No N Word Debate planned for African History Month

The BTWSC in partnership with Ligali will be hosting a debate on the use of the n word during African History Month.
As part of its African History Month programme, BTWSC and BritishBlackMusic.com/Black Music Congress, are organising a debate which puts the use of the n word within a historical and political context, by examining its beginnings in 17th century America and questioning the appropriateness of its use in 21st century Britain.
The event, which will be chaired by Kwaku of the Black Music Congress, will also explore the effects of the n word in and outside hip hop culture and discuss its role in the manifestation of insidious racism.
Director, Bhavna Malkani will be on the panel screening and defending her short film 'Guilty Or Innocent Of Using The N Word', a sympathetic documentary on the use of the n-word among the hip-hop community filmed in Delaware, Philadelphia and New York City and featuring contributions from M1 from Dead Prez, Grouchy Greg CEO of Allhiphop.com, the Last Emperor and Delaware rapper and music producer, Marchitect.

Event details
Other panel contributors include Toyin Agbetu from the Ligali Organisation, the former 57th Dynasty front man ‘Paradise’(now of The Good Samaritan Music Project) and Onyeka of Narrative Eye.
Youths aged 13-17 are also welcome to enter the n-word competition. All short-listed entrants and their parents/guardians will be invited to an award ceremony which will precede the debate.
The event takes place on Saturday October 14 2006, 6-8.30pm at the Council Chamber, Harrow Civic Centre, Station Road, Harrow, Middlesex, HA1 2XF.

I dont know about the situation in the UK, but here in the states the N word is heard in public in the streets used in general conversation with regularity. Its not uncommon to hear and see a Black American yelling "YO N****r" across the street or room in public places. I hear it almost everytime in ride the metro/subway in DC or NY.

From the M25
Leave the M25 at junction 16 and join the M40/A40 for central London.
After passing Northolt Aerodrome (on left) take the second slip road exit. in order to join the A312 towards Rayners Lane
Continue to follow the A312 into Harrow.
At the fifth roundabout join the A404, Lowlands Road toward Kenton.
At the next roundabout turn left onto the A409 for Wealdstone.
The Civic Centre is now three quarters of a mile on the left hand side (see map).
From the M1
Exit the M1 at junction M4 and follow the A41 towards Edgware.
At the first roundabout turn right onto the A410 for Stanmore.
After two miles turn left at a roundabout onto the A409 and travel through Harrow Weald to arrive in Wealdstone.
After crossing over the Railway bridge take the next left turn (just prior to Shell petrol station), in order to pass under the A409 (see map).

From Harrow & Wealdstone Station
Use exit on Platform 1 and outside the car park, turn left and walk down the slope.
Cross the road, walk up the steps and then across the car park.
The main entrance of the Civic Centre is the opposite side of the car park, on your right hand side.
The main line station offers prompt travel into London, taking only 12 minutes to get to Euston. Travelling in the opposite direction, Watford, Milton Keynes and Birmingham can all be reached by train.
By bus
140 & 182 from Harrow Weald, Heathrow / 186 from Belmont, Edgware, Hendon, Brent Cross, Central Harrow, Northwick Park Hosp. / 258 from Bushey, Watford, Central Harrow, Sth Harrow, Harrow on the Hill / 340 from Stanmore, Edgware, Harrow / 182 from Northwick Park Hosp, Wembley, Brent Cross
Underground Stations
Harrow on the Hill - The Metropolitan line links easily with Baker Street.
Harrow & Wealdstone - The Bakerloo line links straight into central London.
Harrow & Wealdstone - British Rail links straight through to Euston.

It's not uncommon to hear WHITE people yelling the N word at brothers here in Ohio. This is what happens when we allow our youth to admire slave rappers and integrate with trailer trash. It's shameful and I can't scrape my fingers together hard enough (shame, shame!).
