PRESS RELEASE
The Global Afrikan Congress (GAC) UK considers the current situation in
Zimbabwe to be a direct result of the betrayal of the Lancaster House
Agreement by the United States of America and the United Kingdom and
association supported from their fellow European family.
The Global Afrikan Congress wishes to inform the world that it is holding
its 3rd Biennial Family Gathering in Harare, Zimbabwe from the 1st – 6th
October 2006 in solidarity with the people and Government of Zimbabwe.
Afrikans globally will come together in the spirit of oneness bounded with a
positive agenda of the way forward in securing our principal objectives in
obtaining justice and equality for the emancipation and economic development
of Afrika, Afrikans/Descendants across the world and to establish the means
as we collectively see fit for eliminating all forms of exploitation,
servitude, degradation and all its ramifications that are affecting our
people globally. This assembly will convene on the principal theme –“
Reparations - paying close attention to the European perspectives for the
forthcoming years.
2007 will mark 200 years since the British Empire was forced by Afrikan
resistance to officially end the illegal and inhuman enslavement of
Afrikans/Descendants (Please note that 1833 was the Abolition of Slavery
within the British colonies and that a compulsory apprentice period had to
be served in which the slaves were expected to be tied to the land and this
they rejected which heralded in the indentureship of Asians and poor whites
from Europe). The ‘slave trade’ was organized and supported by European
governments, Church, military, commercial companies, and families including
the British Royal Family.
Afrikans’ economic, social development, cultural and spiritual
marginalization globally is inextricably linked to slavery and colonialism.
Reparation must be considered the most reasonable and just remedy for the
unjust barbarity upon our nation which suffice to say, such abuses have not
abated but continue today in more covert forms. Repair for damage done to us
must take place without further delay and the Global Family
Gathering/Conference will be the vehicle that will provide us with the
ultimate authority and direction for redressing past and present ills
globally. With regard to that historical declaration by the world at the UN
Durban 2001 Conference Against Racism, Xenophobia and other Related
Intolerances all Afrikans now have a moral duty and an obligation to support
and promote reparation for our race and should at all times agitate and
fight for it as a right.
In support of the Zimbabwe Family Gathering Conference, GAC UK will be
holding a Fundraising Dinner at a cost of £25 per head at the Heritage Inn
on Cricklewood Broadway, London, UK in the presence of invited Dignitaries
from across the Afrikan/Descendant’s world. In addition to this Dinner,
there will be a family discussion forum where views and opinions may be
expressed concerning the issues affecting the people and Government of
Zimbabwe.
The Global Afrikan Congress (GAC) notes that the Western blockades against
Zimbabwe are totally illegal and unjust and above all have no legitimate
mandate or approval from the United Nations. The GAC by decree of its
Congress at the historical Gathering of Afrikans/Descendants in Bridgetown
Barbados 2002 fully supports the people and Government of Zimbabwe to break
the British/US Western illegitimate blockade, and calls upon all Afrikans to
be at the forefront of this struggle against this unjust act of blatant
racist imperialist ploy.
EDITORS NOTE:
The Global Afrikan Congress was established in 2002 in Bridgetown Barbados
immediately after the United Nations Durban World Conference Against Racism
that declared enslavement and colonialism as Crimes Against Humanity.
Crimes against humanity have no statute of limitations.
As a global organization created by and for Afrikans/Descendants, the GAC
has representation in all regions of the world and is actively establishing
National and Local Chapters in each country of the world working towards
re-orientation and upliftment of all Afrikans through participation in both
local and international forums. The GAC in accordance with its Bridgetown
Protocol put together by Afrikans/Descendants from across the world is a
Garveyite institution for the 21st Century dedicated to the advancement of
our people across the world.
The GAC Family Gathering/Conference is held every 2 years for its membership
in different parts of the globe. The first gathering was at the Durban UN
World Conference Against Racism (WCAR) 2001 – before the name GAC was
coined. At the Durban Conference Afrikans/Descendants united to form an
effective forum for themselves for putting their case to the world against
the US, British and Jewish opposition to Afrikans/Descendants’ demand that
the Afrikan enslavement and colonialism were despicable crimes against
humanity.
After the Durban historical victory, Afrikans/Descendants called for a
Conference of their own which took place in Bridgetown Barbados in 2002. It
is from this Conference that the Bridgetown Protocol was born. Subsequent
to this was the GAC Constitutional Conference in Suriname 2004. We are now
at the third stage where our people will gather in Mama Afrika in October
2006. For the first time since the Europeans divided and scattered us across
the earth we are finally returning to the continent of humanity’s birth and
our homeland, Afrika for such an auspicious gathering.
GAC is an Afrikan institution for Afrikans/Descendants. It meets biennially
at Congress the supreme authority , where elected delegates from across the
global spectrum sit and deliberate all matters relevant to Afrika and
Afrikans everywhere. The normative day to day functioning of this august
institution is vested in an elective body, ‘The International Working
Committee (IWC) comprising of members from across the globe who hold office
for a period of two years. Grass roots organizations at community level are
responsible for implementing the GAC’s aims and objectives as mandated by
Congress. To learn about what we do and how you may be helpful visit our
website http://www.globalafrikancongress.com) .
Membership to this mass movement is opened only to Afrikans/Descendants and
interested organizations or individuals should in the first instance contact
their GAC National Chapter’s Secretary directly or consult our Website to
find out who they are
