The anti-war movement is organising a national demonstration on Saturday 23rd September 2006 in Manchester which is expected to attract thousands of participants. The last demonstration on 5 August S attracted almost one hundred thousand demonstrators. The Guardian journalist, Gary Younge, has warned that the so-called war on terror is the new "Tebitt-test", which has serious implications for all black people. Not surprisingly, the racist backlash that has been going has equally affected the African community, notably the Somali community in particular.
The demonstration is also the lobby of the annual conference of the British Labour Party which is the ruling party in the United Kingdom. It is an appropriate time for us to organize our lobby of the Labour Party conference as part of this demonstration. The African Liberation Support Campaign Network (ALISC Network) and SOAS Friends of Africa has been bringing African issues to t he fore in the anti-war movement.
The Stop War Coalition has consistently adopted resolutions on Africa at its annual conferences for the past three years and had a workshop on Africa =EF=BF=BDs Forgotten Wars at its most recent annual conference.
I am putting out this clarion call to invite as many people as possible to join the contingent on Africa at the demonstration in Manchester. If you are going from London, you can join us on a coach leaving Hammersmith at 7am from Shepherds Bush Road (Old Fire Station, just near the Hammersmith Police Station). Kindly phone me on 07984405307 for tickets.
(Employed =EF=BF=BD15; Unemployed =EF=BF=BD6).
Before the journey, those in London can also attend the Hammersmith Stop the War meeting in Hammersmith Town Hall on Wednesday 13th September at 7pm where Dahabo Isse of "Stop the War in Somalia" will be speaking.
In preparation for the biggest anti-war demonstration on 15 February 2003, the African People's Socialist Party/Uhuru Movement, the African Liberation Support Campaign, Campaign for Political and Human Rights in Uganda (CamPHRU) and the Free Congo Campaign (Hewa Bora), with the support of the Peoples Socialist Party of Cote Ivoire (USP), had a joint meeting and noted that the imperialists are waging war against the African people through proxy wars and sometimes direct intervention. Taking note of the war in the Congo where 5 million people have died since 1998, the imperialist backed Museveni war in Uganda where over 1 million people have lost their lives, the genocidal war against the Africans of Southern Sudan, the French-imperialist encouraged genocide in Rwanda, the proxy war in Somalia, the French-USA rivalry war dividing Ivory Coast, Africans have serious issues to raise on the anti-war platform and to utilise our participation to give it an anti-imperialist shape. As a result we initiated the campaign "Stop All Imperialist Wars Against African People Now''. We called on all Africans and friends of Africa to come out to march in a special contingent on the demonstration on 15th February raising the anti-imperialist anti-war demands of African people which was joined by the All African People Revolutionary Party (AAPRP).
The demands of the campaign included:-
(1) We want to end all unjust wars imposed on our people in order to steal our resources or as a genocidal tool to maintain the oppression and exploitation of Africa
(2) We want to end all illegitimate Black governments whose main function is to implement imperialist policies
(3) We want a liberated and united Africa
(4) We want a consolidated African nationality for all African people wherever we are oppressed and exploited throughout the world due to machine nations of imperialism
(5) We want a unification of all fronts of the 500 year old African Liberation Movement to complete the International Black Revolution throughout the world
(6) We want reparations and social justice in our life time!
Please, join us to lobby the Labour Party national conference on 23rd September.
Thank you.

Very nice. I wonder if ASI which is part of UHURU also still insisting on UNITING with arabs against the wishes of the Africans?
A bit of a contradiction i thought.

Are they a part of Uhuru? Not sure they are... I'm, 'with' Uhuru and haven't heard them say anything about being with ASI. They do unite with other groups like the Palestinian Alliance, can see what you're saying, need to keep their cause seperate from ours.
Some groups need to fix up a bit in my opinion like they just aren't progressive enough. Obviously good is good so its besides the point but certain groups seem more afraid of progression than anything, left overs from the 60s - 70s when times have changed... E.G; The, ''we need our own businesses'' cry is old, people should know that by now, we're in near enough every industry just need to be working together.
Things are progressing though don't wanna put anyone off, love seeing the same faces about at book readings and stuff just think people need to sit down and define what the, 'revolution' is nowadays.

Didn't say I didn't belive you .lol. I just wasn't sure, they need to fix up man I'm gonna say it haven't heard ANYTHING from those guys for ages, a phone call would be nice an email something.
Would LOVE to comment on recent goings on at Uhuru... really would but I'll hold my tounge...
Sure they've learnt a lesson or two in how to treat people.
Mr Omali needs to fly out here and sort out his UK base (opinion) they need a resuffle to be honest I prefer UK groups in the UK, the situation is diffrent in America unless its a cultural group then it can cross the seas alright but with politics its diffrent.
What do you get up to Abi? Do you keep in touch with any groups?
