today 1 august 2006, i lost my father

to be honest i do not know what to think

my feelings are completely different to when i lost my mum

my mum raised me my dad didnt,

me and my dad get along we were cool. we spoke when we could

when i lost my mum i was out of operation for 3 weeks. with my dad passing i feel i can carry on as normal and cope with my lost.

i am being told to take time off but will do for the funeral

dont know what to say really. if they send me home from work so be it. but i got to keep myself occupied

Hey LD you know I know the ball of emotions you must be feeling right now........there really aren't the words.

However, know this,my thoughts are with you and if you need to get stuff of your chest write about it here like I did with my Mum or PM if you like.

*hugs*

Sorry to hear that Ladyday.blkrubhead

If you're not sure about your feelings it might help to write down what you do know, and try to understand them that way.

HTH

p.s take the time off.

when i lost a parent i found that the best thing for me at the time was to write and not think.  i just let my emotions come out on paper and then when i was ready i read over what i had written to understand it.  i still doen't understand it now but ive learnt to live each day without my dad and have found ways to communicate with him in my own way.

the feeling of loss as you know never goes you just learn how to cope to do what you have left to do on this earth.

you don't need to articulate your emotions just ride them out..

peace and hug

Soul

My condolences Lady Day...

I don't have a relationship at all with my father, so I can only imagining how you might feel after losing him.  I am not sure if it would even effect me if I lost him.  I am imagining that you are confused about whether or not you should even grieve.

Anyhow, just want to let you know that I feel you, and I am sorry for your loss.

Just go with it, you are bound to feel dips and peaks of emotion.  Sing, cry, laugh, watch tv, veg out, type on here.  Just make sure you surround yourself with the people who understand you.

My thoughts are with you, so sorry for your loss.

Aww Lady Day...sorry o.

I know what you are going through because my mother just died a few weeks ago also. The loss of a parent is one of the single most disorienting experiences of life. The horizon of your life changes dramatically and substantially.

It was the experiences of the wonderful posters on this board that coped admirably with their own losses that helped me in those first few days.  I remembered DM, Maffie, Jett Black, Paris and others and I knew that this difficult path was traversible.

I wasn't going to share my loss but then I saw your post and saw that we are both grieving at the same moment of time and I felt connected to you; I just wanted to reach out to you, hug you and say "my, sister, e go betta".

God bless your mother, your father, my mother and all the parents that have left us behind. I take comfort in the fact that this is the way of life and that their passing is not a perversion of nature. (at least that helps me rationalise the loss)

stay strong, LD, e go betta.blk2hug

Happiness

LadyDay & Happiness,

So sorry to hear that. I'm sure it's hard even though the relationships you had with both parents were different. He is still your dad.

Go with whatever feels best and gain strength from those who are here for you now.

Deepest sympathy goes out to you and your families right now. I may not be around as much but please don't hesitate to PM if and when you need to okblk2hug

May their souls rest in Peace.

LadyDay, I am sorry for your loss.  May your father rest in peace.

It doesn't matter what relationship you had while he lived, he was your father nonetheless.  This would affect anyone.

Take care of yourself.

Ladyday: saw you message this morning and I didn't really get a chance to explain myself fully as i was on my way out at the time... What I wanted to say to you was that i realise that you had really mixed feelings about your father, and I know because i went through a similar thing recently that its difficult to know what to feel and think..especially when decorum dictates that you should feel a certain way... Anyway what I am trying to say is don't try and force things or feel guilty for not feeling the way other might do... What ever your emotions are, be sure and accept that they are right for you and your circumstances..

K.......
