Maximilien François Marie Isidore de Robespierre is one of the best known leaders of the French Revolution. He earned the nickname "the Incorruptible" through his devotion to the Revolution. He was an influential member of the Committee of Public Safety, which oversaw the period of the French Revolution in which the revolutionaries consolidated their power; a period which is commonly known as the Reign of Terror. While the Committee of Public Safety was certainly a dictatorial committee, Robespierre was not in his own right a dictator. In the Thermidor of Revolutionary calendar's Year Two, he was himself executed.
Politically he was a disciple of Jean-Jacques Rousseau, among other Enlightenment philosophes, and a capable articulator of the beliefs of the left-wing bourgeois. He harnessed this talent as a means of rabble-rousing. He is often described as a rather impractical man, who coupled deistic beliefs in the Supreme Being with marked fanaticism.
He was described as physically unimposing. He dressed immaculately - so much so that some described him as a dandy.
& Kunjufu and Blacknet (The African Diasporian Revolution)
I have been on an off Blacknet for a while now, since 1997, what happened last year and the subsequent reformation of the Blacknet, is an inevitable consequence. It is a sad day, but for me Blacknet did try to introduce some checks and balances long before.
It's a shame that the it had not worked. Which is why I posted this article on Robespierre and Kunjufu. Blacknet has had to reform it's self. I really hope that it's original ideals are not diminshed as a result of whatever changes they have been forced to implement.
There is a real power of being a media owner, and provided that this power is enhenced to positive effect "Long Live the REVOLUTION !!!!"

Dada: Hmmmm actually the way i see it is this....they call it the Struggle because that is what it is a 'struggle' and therefor there is going to be times when it things don't work as you plan... But the good thing about a 'struggle' is the one can learn from it and get BETTER......
as the saying goes 'what doesn't kill you can only make you stronger' non?

Happy New Year Kunjufu.
My post of Robspierre was tongue in cheek but to quote Nietzsche's "Thus spoke Zarathustra" that's taking it to another level .
But seriously, you have a powerful Media Platform here, where other Black Media have lost any sense of integrity or progress, I believe that it,the appeal of Blacknet as is has struck accord with the Black Community.
Good Luck.

Thanks dada..even though you analogy with Robespierre was tongue in cheek, in truth there were too many similarities for comfort....but hey.. the longevity of BNV is due to the people who use it and the Mods who work very hard to maintain it... All praise should go to them...
