| I have never heard of Black AMERICANS (We AMERICAN Blacks overwhelmingly reject the fake ass title "african american") having beef with Jamaicans and vice versa.There is alot of mingling amongst the two groups and our relations are generally amiciable.The Wild Hare in Chicago is generally jampacked with Americans,West Indians,and especially the Jamaicans.The Nigerians are generally perceived as being tribalistic (Nigeria has the largest population of Blacks in the world yet it ranks as one of the the most sqaulid,filthy,and wretched nations in the world that is going nowhere fast.What have they accomplished?They can't even defend the Black people in Africa from genocide.Look at the Euros they put together forces throughout history to save their own (Bosnia,Kosovo,and so on) yet those idiots throughout history have sold their own race into slavery and we call this Nigerian state of affairs "progress".HMMPH...If they are the "Black Superpower" then God damn us ALL.God Bless AMERICA!) and not OUR KIND OF PEOPLE.The Jamaicans,Americans,West Indians,and other Diasporans are a folk people.We're not into putting on airs and such.In other words,we KEEP IT REAL.The Ghanians,Ethiopians,Togolese,and some other African groups are perceived as being generally cool within our American community.The Nigerians generally can't get along with Black people in the US or the UK.It's about time they look in the mirror to figure why they are so despised. | True that Jamaicans get mad respect in the American Black community.Don't downplay my Belizean mamis out there with the Soca but the influence of Jamaicans is global.Even the Americans have to gived props to the Jamaicans.That's why i'm tripping on this.I go to a Jamaican barbershop and I feel like i'm with my brothers out there.They are very focused on what's going on in their homeland and what they can do to help.Their dedication and rightgeous anger at the state of what's happening in Jamaica is praiseworthy.I got nothing but respect for the Jamaians....Some Nigerians putting on airs are not our kind of people.We are a FOLK people.This putting on airs and trying to act "better" than the next man is why they can't get along with the Diasporans in the US or the UK....

This is where some brothers get sh*t twisted between good old tribal laugh and sing song and wanting to bring madness in the place....
DSP is right in many respects no nation has played such a powerful and influential role both overtly and covertly in the African liberation movement than Nigeria. Whether in the front or behind the feild or being the diplomatic table the Naija man and woman have always played their role and a big one too. The paradox is this often many leaders who were poor at home or corrupt etc still performed very well on key issues, such as Africans being dominated by white men which is something which the Nigerian ego and body politic simply refused to accept on the African continent.
Yeah so I have always like the Collective Nigerian ego in the right context such as those simply not being prepared to accept certain things...regardless of what they are prepared to accept. Very similar to Jamaica in many respects tolerate sh*t but certain things will not even consider and they don't care.
Look how JA told the world to f**k off about the 'homophobia' in reggae music most other Caribbean countries would have dealt with it I think in more low key ways..but hold the basic position. Different national ego...at work or manifests in different ways...

@FredB & DSP. DSP is actually not right and he is wrong and off tangent when he said "Nigeria has done more for Africa than any Nation on this Earth", that is not true. The Country that played a Very significant and most important role for African Liberation particularly in Africa and for Black America and around the World is actually Algeria and Ethiopia. Algeria's bitter War of Independence contributed to a set of beliefs and attitudes that implied a measure of suspicion and hostility towards the capitalist states of Europe and North America, and sympathy for liberation movements whose struggles mirrored Algeria's own .
During the time of African Liberation and Independence, many Africans headed to Algeria to recieve military training and weapons for liberation were funneled through Algeria. "Dividing the globe into the rich industrial nations of the North, and the poor former colonies of the South, Algerian leaders asserted their strong opposition to what they saw as a world infected by Imperialism, Zionism, Colonialism, and Economic Domination by the former colonial powers". This belief led to massive support for Liberation Movements through-out Africa. It was in Algeria that many members of the Black American Panther Party recieved support, training and sanctuary. It was also Algeria that tried to take down African Leaders who were close to the Colonial powers because it saw them as continuation of Western powers.
Most of the liberation Armies of Angola, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Guinea Bissau, Zimbabwe received training and support in Algeria and Ethiopia and of course Nigeria and the rest of Africa chipped in to help from Tanzania, Zambia etc etc. Nelson Mandela, Jonas Savimbi ( considered a traitor) all recieved Military training in Algeria and Ethiopia and Savimbi proceeded on to China and back to Angola and many other African Revolutionaries and leaders went to Ethiopia and Algeria. Algeria back in the days was the meeting place for African Revolutionaries so was Dar-El Salaam in Tanzania. In the 1960s Nigeria had her hands tied with its own problems to deal with by the war in Biafra which kept her hands full and in the 1970s had to deal with other internal issues trying to put the house back in order. Nigeria started playing a bigger role in the early 1990s to the present, especially when Obasanjo came to power. The Contributions of Algeria and Ethiopia are very significant in the early days particularly Ethiopia with the formation of the OAU/AU (African Union, formerly Organization of African Unity). I think the Democratic Republic of Congo would have played a much larger important role; probably even bigger than Algeria had Patrice Lumumba lived or survived because of his experience and the brutality of the Belgian colonialists.
In terms of military power in the Continent South Africa used to be the ranking military power with their threat of the Six (6) to Nine (9) Nuclear Weapons mounted on their Israeli version of the Gideon Intercontinental Ballistic Missile that can in theory fire its missiles onto any point on this earth. This threat was neatralized when these Nuclear weapons were destroyed when Mandela took over power. Now the Military powers in the Continent ranking from number one is (1) Egypt. (2) South Africa, (3) Ethiopia comes third, (4) Angola and and number five (5) Nigeria and so on and so forth with Mauritius having no Army at all.
