US town set to ban saggy trousers

Low-slung trousers are fashionable among some young peopleA mayor in the US state of Louisiana says he will sign into law a proposal to make wearing saggy trousers an act of indecent exposure.
Delcambre town council unanimously passed the ordinance earlier this week making it a crime to wear trousers that show underwear.
"If you expose your private parts, you'll get a fine" of US$500 (£254) Mayor Carol Broussard said.
Offenders will also risk up to six months in jail.
Fashionable
Speaking of people who wear saggy trousers, Mr Broussard told the Associated Press news agency: "They're better off taking the pants off and just wearing a dress."

White people wear sagging pants, too

Mayor Carol Broussard
Town attorney Ted Ayo said the ordinance expands on the existing state indecent exposure law by adding underwear to the list of forbidden exposures.
"This is a new ordinance that deals specifically with sagging pants," Mr Ayo said. "It's about showing off your underwear in public."
Some residents say the ordinance targets blacks, as low-slung trousers are fashionable among hip hop fans.
Mr Broussard denied it was racially motivated.
"White people wear sagging pants, too," he said.

I think it's rediculous. Besides the obvious issue of targeting a specific group, why the hell is showing some underwear a crime. Granted it's not a fashion statement I would follow (i.e. the thong peek) but it's covering up your privates. I'm sorry, but I don't consider my underwear part of my "privates". I don't see any action being taken towards Britney Spears et all traipsing around w/NO panties on and showing off everything.
What next, are they going to ban pajamas b/c they're meant to be worn in the home and not in public? America is confused and contradictory, everything is SEX SEX SEX, but this, this is an aboniation. Most of these underwear that they're referring to are boxers anyhow, more is exposed at the beaches w/those speedos, now THAT's offensive banana.gif

I have never heard of anything so foolish in my entire life.... land of the free my ass.  I too, get irritated when I see the boys struggling to walk coz their trousers are down by their knees, but far be it from me to say that it is a criminal offence, or try to tell people what they should or shouldn’t WEAR :?:?:?.   If that is the case let’s start looking around at other groups and let’s see what they wear that is just as ridiculous.

What about the tissue mini skirts that some women/girls wear with nothing on or a thong on underneath,  should we round them up as well? what about Indian women wearing saris where their midriff is exposed... should we round them up?...... I have two words for this mayor and the second word is head.mad-moonie

They need to control EVERYTHING.

This is a good thing, end of.

I'm sick and tired of seeing African MEN walking around like homos and showing their arse as if they're advertising the fact that they want to get backyard action.

From time your past the age of 15 pull up your jeans and stop walking around like a gotdamn monkey, it's looks so damn stupid. Just an hour ago I saw a brotha rocking that style while riding a bike and there's no way he was under age of 25. Blatant coonery.

If I was in power I'd also slap fines on these idiots with girly hairstyles who wear more jewelry than any woman.

@ph
Nah don’t like the thought of people being told what they can and cannot wear... dispite how much we may hate to see it.  By the way my female students LOVE that look, the baggier the trousers the better for  these girls confused3confused3confused3. need Freud to figure that one out,  but just like the fashion  of the 50's 60's 70's and lawd the dreaded  80's  which were condemned at the time, the same thing is happening now... these men will be in their 40's 50's 60 and still be wearing baggy pants, unfortunately. And the next generation will come with something even worse.... but banning and imprisonment???? nah nah nah peer Tom foolery.

Because it's disgusting, same as when blokes think that having one hand down their pants is "cool" while I walk by with my 10 year old niece.

And before people get too carried away it was an African American who propositioned this law in the first place.

I hope they bring that legislation to the Uk too!!!

In my local we ban all hoodies and batty man fashion by asking them to take off their hoodies and pull up their pants or get out of the pub.

What makes it worse is seeing big man wearing their pants like this.   I can understand the yoots as they don't know any better but man ova 30 is complete stupidness.
