Paris Hilton released from jail  
Paris Hilton will not be allowed out of her house for parties 
 Release statement Celebrity heiress Paris Hilton has been released from jail after serving just three full days of her sentence. But the 26-year-old will be kept under house arrest and must wear an electronic tag for another 40 days.
The decision was made as a result of a medical problem, but officials refused to give details of the condition. When Hilton was originally sentenced to 45 days for violating probation on a drink-driving conviction, she was told there was no prospect of early release.
But the sentence was later cut in half after being given credit for good behaviour. Hilton has now been "reassigned" to house arrest 20 days before her revised jail term was due to end.
'Privacy reasons'
Steve Whitmore of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said: "After extensive consultation with medical personnel, it was decided this reassignment should be done."
The Simple Life star would be "confined to her home", must wear an ankle bracelet and would not be allowed out for parties or social functions, he told reporters.
 The socialite was in a special unit reserved for high-profile inmates No details of the medical problem could be given for "privacy reasons", he said, but insisted she had received no special treatment.
US reporters at the press conference questioned the move, however, asking if authorities had "cut her a break" and whether the heiress had feigned illness because she did not like life inside.
Hilton's full sentence - including the house arrest - has now reverted to the original 45 days. Mr Whitmore said she had officially served five days in jail - including late on Sunday night and the early hours of Thursday morning - meaning 40 days of house arrest will complete the sentence.
The socialite and pop singer was arrested for driving under the influence last September and was given probation, which she violated several times by driving with a suspended licence.
Solitary confinement
She was held at the Century Regional Detention Centre in Lynwood, California, where her lawyer said she spent 23 hours a day in a solitary cell.
She was separated from the main prison population in a special unit for celebrities, public officials, police officers and other high-profile inmates.
Before turning herself in to authorities on Sunday, she told reporters: "I'm definitely scared, but I'm ready to face my sentence."
Hilton was accompanied by her mother as she arrived at the jail. She was then fingerprinted, photographed, medically screened and issued with the jail's regulation orange jumpsuit.
After her first night in jail, her lawyer said she was doing well and would "reflect on her life, to see what she can do to make the world better".

The sentencing of Scooter Libby was the last in a series of acts that has resulted in a shocking injustice – one created by and enabled by federal officials. As I’ve been saying for many months, this is a “he said-she said� case about political infighting that would have never been brought in any other prosecutor’s office in America.
The CIA started the ball rolling by sending the Democratic partisan husband of one of its employees to Niger on a sensitive mission. Knowing an opportunity when he saw one, he returned and blasted the Bush Administration (the fact that he blatantly falsified a few important things along the way is another story). It should not have been a shock to CIA officials when people then asked, “Who is this guy and why was he sent to Niger?� The only mystery in Washington is why the CIA employee-wife’s name, Valerie Plame, took as long as it did to leak.

Nevertheless, the CIA demanded that the Department of Justice investigate the leak of her name (not surprisingly, the fact that the CIA was making such a request was leaked). This put pressure on the DOJ. The DOJ, in turn, promptly caved to the media and Congressional pressure to appoint a Special Counsel to investigate the Plame leak. However, there were two glaring problems for anyone with a sense of justice, or who may have gone to law school for one semester.
The Justice Department and the new Special Counsel knew that: 1.) The leaking of Valerie Plame’s name did not constitute a crime because she was not a “covered person� under the relative criminal statue and, 2.) They already knew the name of the leaker: State Department official Richard Armitage.
Yet small matters such as these do not matter much to Justice Department officials trying to cover their own fanny, or to a newly minted Special Prosecutor with a reputation to make and members of the media to satisfy.
Special Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald proceeded to make public statements and employ tactics that would have brought condemnation in any other setting. He moved heaven and earth for a year and a half in order to come up with some sort of “process� crime against a high-level Administration official -- so that he could try them in one of the most anti-Bush Administration places in America, Washington DC.
The best he could come up with was a man who was not well known to the public, but who was basically working two full-time jobs after 9/11 -- trying to prevent such a thing from happening again. The White House physician says that, “Mr. Libby worked himself to exhaustion day after day reviewing national intelligence estimates.� Of course, he had to make time for hours of testimony before Fitzgerald’s grand jury and Fitzgerald found inconsistencies. At trial, practically every government witness not only was inconsistent with other government witnesses, but was inconsistent with regard to their own prior testimony.
During his closing arguments, Fitzgerald did what has caused many a prosecutor to get a mistrial: He asked the jury to consider “facts� that had not been placed into evidence or proven in any way. It was so egregious it was even too much for the judge, who admonished him.

Americans please explain: it seems to me watching your justice system from the other side of the Atlantic that something is seriously wrong.....
Paris H..for example gets convicted of a drink/drive offence for the second time if memory serves, gets sent to prison....but is allowed OUT  to argue whether the sentence is justified... Then when she finally goes into prison at her leisure, she is released after 3 days!!!!
At the same time Scooter Libby, in what must be the most protracted court case on earth, gets sentenced to 3 years and fined heavily...HE is allowed to walk out of court and plead for a shorter sentence in the community....and I learn that he may never see the inside of jail as Bush may pardon him anyway..
Now can I be the only one who thinks this makes a mockery of the so called justice in America, and if the risch appear to be above the law, how does the Administration expect Joe Blogs to feel when he is NOT offered the same treatment....Crazy!!!!

There is no justice if you have the money. I am surprised that the judge made her go back to jail, but after the public outcry (Mothers Against Drunk Driving is big here) something had to be done.
I have been telling people for years that the LAPD and LA Sheriff's dept are as crooked as can be. how in the hell did they decide to overturn a judge's ruling?
Plus man California law has its own logic.....
Scooter Libby on the other hand......... Think man how can you even relate Bush and Justice in the same sentence?
His VP is profiting from the war directly, his VP has gunned down a man, his VP's family goes against everything religious he has said with a gay daughter with a baby out of wedlock, an illegal war, Karl ROVE, his questionable election based on Florida...... Should I go on? You get the picture.......

Jailed Paris Hilton claims 'dumb act is over'

Paris Hilton says she has learned that acting dumb is “no longer cute� and claims she is a reformed character after being sent back to jail.
Hilton: 'I'm not the same person'The US socialite and heiress to the Hilton family fortune was taken back to prison screaming and in floods of tears last week after she was released only three days into a sentence for drinking driving.
Hilton had been told she could serve the remainder of her 45-day jail term at home wearing a tag. But after reports emerged that she was planning a party to celebrate her homecoming Supreme Court Judge Michael Sauer ordered her to appear in court.
After waiting two hours for Hilton he said she should be remanded for the rest of her sentence.
In a phone call to ABC News the 26-year-old, who was dragged from court screaming "It's not fair, It's not right" following the judge’s ruling, said: "I'm not the same person I was. I used to act dumb. It was an act. I am 26 years old, and that act is no longer cute.
"Now, I would like to make a difference. God has given me this new chance."
Seen by many as a spoilt rich kid, Hilton claimed she had been deeply affected by her time in jail. She claimed she had told her lawyers not to appeal against her return to prison and described her sentence as "by far the hardest thing I have ever done".
"I was not eating or sleeping. I was severely depressed and felt as if I was in a cage," she said. "It was a horrible experience." Hilton, who must wear a jump-suit behind bars and is not allowed make-up, reportedly told ABC she would like to help in the fields of breast cancer or multiple sclerosis when she gets out.
She also said she thought she might get toy companies to build a "Paris Hilton playhouse", where sick children might come, and the toy companies could donate toys. She said a "spiritual adviser" told her that her spirit or soul did not like the way she was being seen, and that is why she was sent to jail. "I'm not that superficial girl,� she said. “I haven't looked in the mirror since I got here."

It's all about race and mostly money. I was hearing on the news where Niki,Paris's sister were able to by-pass other jail visitoes without being processed to go in while other visitors of the inmates( including theri lawyers) had to wait. I wonder what would have happened if Paris Hilton would have been considered an internatioal threat like Osama bin Laden? I guess it will be fine, because he's rich!

CeeCee: you are totally right that it is about RACE & PRIVILAGE...however just to extend this a little, I think that America and especially the ruling class of America needs to be very very careful... Because this could be another watershed much like the Rodney King beatings were..
Black & white are looking on and seeing how the law is applied, and I suspect I'm not the only one thinking that if this is how its gonna be f***K it I'm gonna do what I want to hell with society..
To draw a parrallel I think it is the same contradictions that occured in foriegn policy that gave if you like a justification for the Terrorism visited on America... I think this type of BLANTANT contradiction could have a dramatic effect on American society..

Defintealy agreed! and not only that, but I think about 9/11 and all of the problems with terrorism. I was looking at how Paris was being taken to jail. The cops were gentile on her, going in like she was a little girl,no hand cuffs or nothing! Now what if Paris Hilton were associated with terrorism? What does this show the world when they do such? Yeah, it's ok, long as you're rich and White. Even with OJ, ironiclaly who was rich, wasn't even treated that way. He has all of the LAPD around him, but then again he wasn't the right color. Paris could have killed somebody with her actions and all she get's is a slap on the wrist( may no quite be that!). This is a classic case how money talks and fools walk.
