24 May 2007 Greetings Family,

I trust that you are well.  I am okay.  I am now in Juba, Southern Sudan.  I arrived early yesterday morning.  I was supposed to arrive the day before but the flight was delayed from Uganda and when we arrived over Juba we were told that it was too dark to land and we had to return to Entebbe! So here I am.  I have to say that Juba is the most impoverished urban area that I have been in anywhere in the world.  It is really rough here.  For most of the city there is little clean water and hardly any paved roads.  Indeed, these are the worst roads I have ever been on.  The electricity is highly irregular and there is only one tv station.  There are only a few internet cafes and most of them are no good.  There are only a couple of hotels and they charge astronomical prices for extremely rudimentary rooms.  What I am experiencing is the result of a fifty year racial war between northern (Arab/Islamic)Sudan and southern (Black African/Christian-traditional) Sudan. The Blacks in the south fought the Arabs in the north to a standstill and are prepared and even expecting to fight again.  The Blacks are determined to hold onto Africa for the Africans and I cannot help but admire them for that inspite of the hardships imposed.  More than two million people died here during the war but the people have survived and maintained their culture. I am proud of them. The people are not very welcoming here and are suspicious of strangers.  But here I am!   And there is positive news to report.  Yesterday afternoon, for example, shortly after my arrival I had a big press conference.  The room was full of reporters and I was given about two hours to get our message out.  I talked about the importance of looking at history from an African perspective and the history and significance of Pan-Africanism.  The response was absolutely excellent and a slightly edited version of the press conference was aired on Southern Sudan TV last night.  You would have been extremely proud.  I am supposed to get a copy of it shortly. This morning I met with a leading Africanist bishop in the church here and he gave me a comprehensive report on the war in Southern Sudan and Darfur.  The people here have the view that the Arabs and Arab wanabees in the north are determined to exterminate all of the Blacks and seize their land.  They are very clear and uncompromising about this.  They sympathize with the Darfurians but recall that it was the same Darfurians who were used by the Arabs to fight their sisters and brothers in the South.  They also tell me that what is going on in Darfur is even worse than what was perpetrated in the South.  In 2011 there will be a referendum to determine if the Southern Sudanese will form their own country. So there is a great deal to share with you but I am hurrying to go and give a big lecture at the University of Southern Sudan in a couple of hours.  I am to speak on the subject of the Global African Presence. This note is just to let you know that I am okay.  I am learning a lot and sharing a lot and the people seem very excited.  I hope to write more either from Uganda or Tanzania over the next couple of days.  In the meantime, keep a positive thought out for me and forgive the rush. By the way, I suspect that this email is going to anger some of my Muslim sisters and brothers but I am only reporting what the local leaders and ordinary folks are telling me and what I am seeing with my own eyes. All the best. In love of Africa, Runoko Rashidi Okello in Juba, Southern Sudan

An intresting article. Not sure about some of it, don't think InI African peoples are so easily malipulated as they make out to be and it glazes over the fact that the Arabs want to take the region but its got info on the SPLA and a bit of background stuff.

*From The Ramparts*
Junious Ricardo Stanton
*War and Thievery in The Guise of Humanitarianism*

/"It is apparent that one of the principal reasons behind the
unequivocally hostile United States policy towards Sudan is the current
administration's independence from regional U.S. geopolitical objectives
and interests. Sudan's stance of economic independence in particular has
brought the government into direct conflict with U.S. interests. The
independent Muslim journal Crescent International affiliated to the
Toronto-based Institute for Contemporary Islamic Thought (ICIT) noted in
1999 that Sudan "has vast agricultural and mineral resources, is blessed
with two large rivers, the Blue Nile and White Nile, and is Africa's
biggest country." Sudan is also brimming with oil fields and began
exporting oil for the first time on 30 August 1999 in contravention of
U.S. interests. "Sudan is now producing 150,000 barrels per day, and
intends to increase this soon, while domestic consumption varies from
60,000 to 65,000 barrels per day. Sudan is not only self-sufficient in
oil now, but also in a position to earn valuable foreign currency".
Domestic resources in Sudan are liable to be utilized in emerging
policies of independent development." /United States Terrorism in the
Sudan The Bombing of Al-Shifa and its Strategic Role in U.S.-Sudan
Relations y Nafeez Mosaddeq Ahmed

George W Bu$h recently imposed economic "sanctions" on the government of
Sudan, because of the alleged "genocide" and ongoing conflict in the
Darfur region. "United Nations, June 1 (AP): Sudan's UN ambassador
accused President George W Bush of imposing new economic sanctions
against his country for domestic political reasons and said Americans
should feel "ashamed" because the government is making progress on
peacekeeping, political, and humanitarian issues in Darfur. In an
interview yesterday with The Associated Press, Ambassador Abdalmahmood
Abdalhaleem Mohamad, said US sanctions 'will cripple the humanitarian
situation in Darfur' and elsewhere in the country, because they target
railways, airplanes and other transportation links. But he noted that
when the US first imposed sanctions nearly 10 years ago, 'we make
miracles ... and we emerged as an oil exporting country because of their
sanctions. Now maybe it is a blessing in disguise,' Mohamad said. 'We
will prove to them that we are resilient and we will grow stronger than
what they think. We will transform the challenges into opportunities.'

Most folks have been hearing about the conflict in Sudan for the past
four years but have not taken the time to peek beneath the headlines of
the corporate mind control apparatus to see what is really going on. If
we were in our right minds as African people, we would be extremely
skeptical if not down right antagonistic towards any and all Europeans'
calls for intervention in any part of Africa, let alone a country like
Sudan that is blessed with abundant natural resources coveted by the
larcenous West. Is there actually conflict in Sudan? Yes. Will
intervention by the West, NATO or a puppet African Union resolve the
core issues in this struggle? Probably not because the last thing the
Europeans wants is real and lasting peace and stability in the region.
Is there conflict in the Horn of Africa? Yes. Does this conflict
threaten to destabilize the whole region? Yes. Is this conflict because
of the megalomania, ineptitude and corruption of the African leaders?
Partly, but most of it is based upon the geopolitical realities of
Neo-Colonialism and the resource wars that are heating up between the
West, its surrogates like Israel and emerging powers like China.
It's no secret that most of the nations targeted for regime change by
the Bu$h cabal are Muslim and just coincidently (if you believe in such
coincidences) happen to sit over massive reserves of oil or other
natural resources coveted by the larcenous Western powers and their
client state Israel. Europeans long ago realized they were a minority of
the world's population and the only way they could dominate the world
was through maximizing the tactic and strategies of "divide conquer and
rule". Everywhere they've set foot on this planet outside of the
Eurasian continent they have employed this strategy. A cursory review of
European contacts with non-Europeans going back several thousand years
will reveal how they developed and modified their divide and rule
program over time. In the modern era they did/do it by fomenting strife
and conflicts between differing ethnic or tribal groups, arming both
sides and sitting back watching them(or prompting and helping them) kill
each other. This is exactly what is happening in Sudan and Darfur.
"From the early 1990s onwards, the U.S. implemented a two-pronged
strategy against Sudan designed to destabilise its government. The
policy enlisted the support of three of Sudan's neighbours - Uganda,
Eritrea and Ethiopia – and involved support for rebels from the Sudan
People's Liberation Army (SPLA) fighting in the south. According to the
National Security News Service (NSNS) reliable reports in the French
media show that: 'The SPLA rebels receive political and indirect
military support from the United States, via American military
assistance to Uganda, Eritrea, and Ethiopia.' The NSNS reports that U.S.
military support of the SPLA has been confirmed by Roger Winter,
Director of the U.S. Committee for Refugees, and was further confirmed
when U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright officially met SPLA
leader John Garang in January 1998 during her trip to Africa. Africa
Confidential, for example, reported that in Uganda the SPLA 'has already
received U.S. help via Uganda", while U.S. special forces are on
"open-ended deployment" with the rebels.[39] As the Boston Globe
elaborated: 'To the peril of regional stability, the Clinton
Administration has used northern Uganda as a military training ground
for southern Sudanese rebels fighting the Muslim government of
Khartoum.' Eritrea and Ethiopia are used similarly to provide military
assistance to the SPLA. The Sunday Times reported that: 'The Clinton
administration has launched a covert campaign to destabilise the
government of Sudan... More than $20m of military equipment, including
radios, uniforms and tents will be shipped to Eritrea, Ethiopia and
Uganda in the next few weeks. Although the equipment is earmarked for
the armed forces of those countries, much of it will be passed on to the
Sudan People's Liberation Army (SPLA), which is preparing an offensive
against the government in Khartoum.'"
United States Terrorism in the Sudan The Bombing of Al-Shifa and its
Strategic Role in U.S.-Sudan Relations

http://www.mediamonitors.net/mosaddeq16.html#2
The Sudan People's Liberation Army has been co-opted by the West and is
being used to destabilize the central government in Khartoum. "And so,
while John Garang's Sudan People's Liberation started out as a true
African liberation force, liberation is something the Western world will
not accept for African populations, especially when there is American
oil under their soil. Every single liberation struggle has been co-opted
or curtailed by Western powers. John Garang's Sudan People's Liberation
Movement/Army (SPLM/A), through clandestine deals with powerful Western
institutions, was transformed, fairly early on, from a people's movement
to just another mercenary army serving the imperatives of power and
private profit. The SPLA leader John Garang was a Christian of the
southern minority Dinka tribe with a degree from Grinnell College (Iowa)
and advanced degrees from Iowa State, and with military training from
the U.S. Army's Fort Benning Georgia, the U.S. military academy which
includes the infamous School of the Americas, notable for training Latin
American militaries in torture, massacres and assassinations." Oil in
Darfur? Special Ops in Somalia? The New Old "Humanitarian" Warfare in
Africa by Keith Harmon Snow
http://www.globalresearch.ca/index.php?context=viewArticle&code=%20SN20070207&article

"There is no mistaking this: the conclusion that can easily be drawn, if
we reduce the Darfur situation to the simplest terms, is that it is
about oil, the Chinese and Arabs have it, and we want it. Who is 'we'?
While some powerful corporate factions connected to the
Anglo-American-Israeli power structure are cooperating with the
Government of Sudan, others are excluded from the profits to be made on
oil and, as we will see, other things. So how do powerful corporations
excluded from a piece of the Sudan pie get at that pie? Divide and
conquer. Covert operations. Psychological operations. Unwittingly obtuse
English professors jumping up and down and screaming, 'atrocities,
atrocities, atrocities.'

Here's the scenario.

First: create instability and chaos that gives the appearance of Arabs
fighting Africans (it's always those other people over there killing
each other). Second: wage a media campaign that focuses a laser beam of
public attention on the rising instability. Third: whip up public
opinion and fury among a highly manipulated Western population who will,
quite literally, believe anything. Fourth: make sure the devil—this time
it's the Janjaweed—comes on horseback. This latter point underscores the
tight, unwavering narrative of good versus evil. Fifth: demonize the
'enemy' [read: dirty A-Rabs] and their partners [Chinese oil companies].
Sixth: onward Christian soldiers and their 'humanitarian' armies; enter
'Save Darfur!' and, voila!, a movement is born. Seventh: continue to
chip away the power of the enemy by chipping away at their credibility.
Eighth: under the banners of high moral approbation, and with full
support of a deeply caring Western public, overthrow the malevolent
forces [of Islam and the Orient] and instill a benevolent, peace-loving,
pro-democracy government. Last: wipe away the sanctions, no longer
needed, and bring much-needed 'development' to another backward country.
And there you have it: yet another civilizing mission to conquer those
barbaric Arab hoardes, and those starving, helpless, uneducated,
diseased, tribal, Africans." ibid

The US is not the only mischief maker in the region. Israel which covets
the water from the mighty Nile River (Sudan hosts both the Blue Nile and
the White Nile) as well as other mineral resources has also been active
in fomenting and supporting discord in the region. "Just as it was
becoming apparent that peace would break out in the south, in 2003
another civil war flared up in the Darfur region in western Sudan.
Starting in February 2003, well-armed rebels of the Sudan Liberation
Army (SLA) and the Justice and Equality Movement (JEM), supported by USA
and Israel through the intermediary countries of Eritrea and Chad
respectively, launched a series of attacks on police stations in Darfur
killing many hundreds of police officers. With this police
infrastructure gone, Darfur, a remote region (in an impoverished
country) with many groups competing for farm and grazing land, turned
into a violent lawless zone with many armed groups fighting each other,
e.g., SLA, JEM, the Sudanese military, the Chadean military, local
militias of all ethnicities and aligned with all sides of the conflict,
and bandits. The situation deteriorated through 2004. Thousands of
Darfurians were killed by violence by the various armed groups. Life was
disrupted so agriculture, on which most people in Darfur subsisted,
became difficult or impossible. Hundreds of thousands of people became
refugees. Tens of thousands died from disease and famine." Stop the War
Against Sudan

Don't go for the okey-doke. Any time whites speak of humanitarian aid or
altruism, double and triple check to see what the real deal is. Always
go beyond the rhetoric and propaganda, seek the real facts. Usually you
will discover most of what the corporate media is saying is a sham,
another lie one more wolf in sheepskin con game out to devour the
unsuspecting uninformed and uninterested so they can continue their
unbridled and ongoing legacy of pillage, rapine and plunder.

Apedemak,

Here is the problem with people like Junious Ricardo Stanton (African American) who I happen to know. If we are to follow the logic of Uncle Ricardo, then I would be justified to say that the “American Civil Rights Movement and its leader Martin Luther King were terrorist bend on destabilizing the peaceful Country called America. Furthermore I could safely say that Blacks in England particularly Caribbean immigrants to England are terrorist bend on destabilizing the peaceful Country of Britain. Rather than appreciate the UK, they went and started riots of the late 1970s and early 1980sâ€?. This is how Ricardo sounds when he speaks about the Sudan, except in this case I used the examples of Diasporan Africans.

We did not start this war, but it was imposed on us by the Government of Sudan based in the North of the Country. Right after independence in 1955, the Government of Sudan started a policy of Arabisation and Islamization. The Southerners resisted and hence the start of the first war from 1956 to 1972. A peace agreement was reached and the war stopped in what was known as the Addis Ababa Peace Agreement. The former rebels of the South were then absorbed into the Sudanese Army and officers like Dr. John Garang were sent to the US under the Government of Sudan of National Unity to come for training. So Dr, Garang was sent to America by the Government of Sudan because he was an officer in the Sudanese army of National Unity. In 1982, the Sudan Government decided to scrap the 1972 Addis Ababa Agreement and re-instituted the policies of Arabisation and Islamization.

This decision prompted mass Rebellion in the South and the Southerners in the Sudan Army mutinied and went to the Bush to from the Sudan Peoples Liberation Army/SPLA with its Political Wing the Sudan Peoples Liberation Movement/SPLM. Colonel, DR. John Garang emerged as the leader of the SPLA/SPLM with Dr. Riak Machar as his deputy.

During that time period of 1956 to the present the North received considerable help from the Arab World both Financially and Militarily. Even in the early 1980s the North received support from the US because the former ruler of Sudan was pro-Western and Anti Communists. The SPLA/SPLM had no choice but to seek support from Cuba and the Soviet Union. After the fall of Communism, things on the ground changed. The Pro American ruler of Sudan was overthrown and replaced by hard-core generals who were Islamic zealots and were hostile to the West and America and they in return welcomed Osama Bin Lade to Sudan. It was then the American government decided to help the SPLA/SPLM. But the Objective still stands and that is fighting for the rights and survival of African people.

We receive support from who ever give us support. Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Nigeria and Ghana, Israel, USA, Cuba, Russia all gave us support. Even the so called “Arab Worldâ€? gave us support at one time or another. For instance when Iraq invaded Kuwait in 1990, the Government of Sudan decided to support Iraq. This decision caused the Saudi Arabians to go into a rage and they decided to give over some of the weapons captured from the Iraqis to the SPLA/SPLM. When the Government of Sudan fell out with the Libyan leader Muammur Ghaddafi in the late 1980s, the Libyan leader decided to support the SPLA for about two (2) years in retaliation against the Government of Sudan. We get what we get and we will not turn down any offers of support. We are not stupid and we know that usually support comes with a price, but we are playing the game just like everyone else is. We have our objectives and that is always the driving force, the others are just side shows.
SPLA/SPLM on the Move.

Intresting. Thanks for the info. What diffrent tribes are there in Southern Sudan? Would like to read up on the culture there.

*War and Thievery in The Guise of Humanitarianism*
Date: Wed, 6 Jun 2007 05:38:32 -0700 (PDT)

As a strong supporter of the Sudanese Liberation Movement I would like to add
a little light to besmirching of the name of President John Garang de Mabior.
The indigenous people of Sudan have been fighting National Islamic Front since
the 1960s and the Arab invasion and occupation for over 1000 years. In recent
times the Arab Nationalist government of Sudan  has tried to introduce Arab
Sharia laws throughout the country and impose other aspects of Arab culture into
the nation of Sudan . At the time that the indigenous African people rose up
against this foreign oppression the great leader Dr. Garang pulled together a
fighting force to maintain African culture in our most ancient land. The
Arabized Northern portion of Sudan was and is supported by Arab governments
including Saudia Arabia and Palestine. With overwhelming support of the Arab
nations and very little support from African nations Dr. Garang accepted support
from the Europeans, Israel and the US . It is not unusual for a liberation
movement to accept funding and training from the lesser of two evils. The
Americans fought along side Toussaint O'loverture, Osama Ben Laden and Fidel
Castro. Just because some of our Liberation leaders had to accept support that
was lacking in our community does not lessen the vision of liberation by Dr.
Garang. Yes he went school at Grinnell, that’s how I knew of him, through my
wife, his classmate. When Dr. Garang came to the states the last time, he asked
to meet with me after finding about the death of my wife. Although he had to
rush back to the peace negotiations I had a standing invitation to meet with
him. I am friends of many of the Liberation fighters and trust me; their goal is
a Sudan free of all foreign control. I strongly suggest that you speak with the
indigenous Sudanese community and learn about their struggle. You will find that
indigenous people of Sudan want to build an African nation with the help of
fellow Africans at home and in the Diaspora. Dr Garang was a great leader who
left us far too soon. If anyone is interested in aiding the indigenous people of
Sudan you must talk with the refugees and see what they have endured. At the
urging of a Sudanese friend, the late Khalid Muhammad went to Sudan to see the
situation for himself and returned stating that the Arabs would pay reparations
for what they have done, and then he was dead.

Congo and Somalia are but a few of the reasons for a true liberation strategy
that will aid and guide us to an Africa free of alien influence envisioned by
Osagyefo Kwame Nkrumah, Marcus Garvey, Inggonyama Shaka kaSenzangakhona.

Who are the people that are bersmirchin Garang and the Southern people? Can you point me to their direction so I can Educate them. People like Uncle Junious Ricardo Stanton are Opportunist, Outright Evil and care nothing about Africans. Somehow people who are living happily in the West sometimes think they know better than those on the ground facing annihilation. I would like to know the time period in which the SPLA/SPLM stopped being a Liberation Army to one that Uncle Junious described as Mercernary?

I would to see how Ricardo would answer this question. When we were first attacked by the Sudan Government in 1956, we had nothing and we had to face up to Tanks, Planes and Machine Guns with nothing but Bows, Arrows and Spears. And my God we were mowed down by the thousands just like Shaka Zulu's army was dismantled by the British. Had it not been for the support of Israel in the early 1960s the North would have finished us. How then did he expect us to defend ourselves when someone is pummeling our faces for no reason at all and the rest of Africa and African Americans like him in America were nowhere to be found if he thinks he cared?

First of all, lets stop blaming all our problems on Zionist, the Americans and all other scapegoats. America, or the Zionist never told the Islamic Government of Sudan to impose Islamic law and a Policy of Arabisation and Islamization to begin with. Second the Israelis came to our aid in the 1960s, not because they wanted to but because they felt they were provoked by the Government of Sudan. That was the time of the Arab Israeli war of the late 1950s  and 1960s. The Government of Sudan declared  its support for the Palestinian people and then send troop from Sudan to fight alongside Egypt in their war with Israel. The Israelis did what any rational person will do, and that is support the Southerners in their struggles in return. If the North never send troops to Egypt to fight for Arab rights the Israelis would never have supported us in the first place.

I think Junious Ricardo should just enjoy his luxury life here as a Freelance Journalist and if he needs more money to supplement his income then he should find something else to do.

The War in Darfur and How it Started

Now let me focus on the Darfur issue. The Darfur issue is separate from the South. Darfur is in Western Sudan and not part of the South. To suggest that the Americans or the Zionist started the problems of Darfur is being outright dis-ingenious and not practising Good Journalistic Ethics. Darfur is the creation of the Government of Sudan and Dr, Hassan El Turabi the Islamic Ideological leader responsible for the genocide in the South and the declaration of Jihad against the South. The Islamic Generals and rules of Sudan are the Students of Dr. Turabi. It was Turabi who urged the current President of Sudan to cease power and Turabi was the really power behind the throne until he felt out with the President and ousted. Turabi is now an opposition figure and some of his students in the government of Sudan went and started the Darfur Rebellion.

Here is Dr. Turabi speaking last week upon hearing that America applied sanctions agianst the Government of Sudan and hearing that one of the Darfur Rebels were being sanctioned too along with the Sudanese Government. "I don't understand why the Americans have embargoed Khalil Ibrahim the leader of one of the Darfur rebel JEM (Justice and Equility Movement)  fighting the Government of Sudan. I do not understand why he was blacklisted. I thought that the Americans wanted all the Darfur opposition groups to work together, to get to the negotiating table with the Sudanese government," Turabi told Al-Ahram Weekly.

"I am convinced that the Americans and the Sudanese government work hand in hand. This is all a charade. They both claim that Khalil Ibrahim and JEM are an offshoot of Al-Qaeda, that they have links to Osama bin Laden. All that is rubbish, false accusations". "JEM was with us and the current regime in the now defunct National Islamic Front. We were all in it together. We parted ways with the Sudanese government because they have no understanding of democracy and human rights. They cannot understand the concept of a viable opposition. They cannot shed their militaristic roots."
Turabi is admitting that they were all in this together in the massacres in the south in the past along with the Darfuris and they parted ways in 2004.

The People in Darfur allied themselves with the Northerners based on Religion and they layed waste to the South. The Darfuris called us back in the days of our resistance in the South as kafirs (infidels) and declared a holy jihad war on Southeners. More than 70% of the sudanese army and jihadis who destroyed the South are from Darfur. Most of the rapes and atrocities carried on our women and children were committed by Darfuri soldiers in the Sudanese Army. Most of the police in North who beat and detain southerners were from Darfur. The Darfuris were in it knee deep. When the War in the South ended, the Northerners turned their guns on the people of Darfur.

The people of Darfur should get on their hands and knees and thank God that the SPLA/SPLM and Southerners did not in the year 2004 join the Northenrers in genocide like they (Darfuris) did in the past against the South or they would have been wiped of the map by now. Rather the Southerners are a very forgiving people. The people of Darfur are now crying for the Southerners to come rescue them. They wante the very people who they helped kill in the past to come save their souls. And the South has responded favoribly. The Government of Southern Sudan is now working to solve the Darfur episode and we are pressing the North to stop their aggression against the Darfurians. A peace effort to stop the war in Darfur is now going on in the South and hopefully results will be achived.

I would to see how Ricardo would answer this question. SO FAR, SO GOOD.

Had it not been for the support of Israel

NOW YOU ARE PUSHING YOUR LUCK. AT LEAST YOU ARE HONEST ENOUGH TO ADMIT THAT THE ZIONISTS ARE THE REAL MOVERS BEHIND THESE WARS. INTERESTING ENOUGH, WE HAVE FOUGHT MANY WARS OF NATIONAL LIBERATION ALL OVER AFRICA. SO YOU SHOULD NOT BE SURPRISED TO LEARN THAT WE DISTRUST ANY AFRICANS WHO HAVE TO GET INTO TO BED WITH OUR KNOWN ENEMY, THE ISRAELIS. IF YOU HAD A 1000% LEGITMATE CAUSE, WHICH YOU DO NOT, YOU WOULD LOOSE EVERYTHING AS SOON AS YOU CONTRACTED WITH AFRICA'S NUMBER ENEMY, THE ISRAELIS.

How then did he expect us to defend ourselves when someone is pummeling our faces for no reason at all and the rest of Africa and African Americans like him in America were nowhere to be found if he thinks he cared?

DO NOT EXPECT ANY SYMAPATHY FROM ANY WHERE IN THE AFRICAN NATION AS LONG AS THE ISRAELIS ARE YOUR BEST FRIENDS.

First of all, lets stop blaming all our problems on Zionist, the Americans and all other scapegoats. America, or the Zionist never told the Islamic Government of Sudan to impose Islamic law

ILAMIC LAW? WHAT IS SO WRONG WITH LAW, IN GENERAL? DO YOU KNOW HOW TO OBEY AFRICAN LAW? IT IS AGAINST THE LAW TO COMMIT TREASON BY REBELLING AGAINST A LEGITMATE GOVERNMENT.

AS FOR ISLAMIC LAW, IS IT NOT TRUE THAT THE CURRENT TREATY IN THE SOUTH IS COMPATIBLE WITH THE EXISTING LAWS OF THE ISLAMIC REPUBLIC OF SUDAN? IS THIS NOT "ISLAMIC LAW"? IS IT NOT "ISLAMIC LAW" THAT PLACES A SOUTERNER IN THE SEAT OF THE VICE-PRESIDENCY OF THE ISLAMIC REPUBLIC OF SUDAN? IS IT NOT "ISLAMIC LAW" THAT GUARANTEES YOUR RIGHTS AS A CITIZEN OF THE ISLAMIC REPUBLIC OF SUDAN TO NOT HAVE RELIGION FORCED UPON YOU? DOES NOT "ISLAMIC LAW GIVE EVERYBODY A FREEDOM OF RELIGION? IS NOT "ISLMIC LAW" THE FIRST SYSTEM OF LAW IN HISTORY TO GRANT FREEDOM OF RELIOGION?  DO YOU HAVE ANY SUCH RIGHTS UNDER CHRISTIAN OR JEWISH LAW?

That was the time of the Arab Israeli war of the late 1950s  and 1960s. The Government of Sudan declared  its support for the Palestinian people and then send troop from Sudan to fight alongside Egypt in their war with Israel.

THIS IS WHAT PAN-AFRICAISM IS ALL ABOUT. WE HELP ONE ANOTHER WHEN WE FIGHT THE ENEMY, NAMELY THE ISRAELIS. WE AMERICANS DID NOT SEND TROOPS. BUT, I ASSURE YOU THAT WE SENT OUR HEARTS TO FIGHT ALONGSIDE EGYPT.

The Israelis did what any rational person will do, and that is support the Southerners in their struggles in return. If the North never send troops to Egypt to fight for Arab rights the Israelis would never have supported us in the first place.

SAD. BUT PROBABLY TRUE. IT SURE MAKE THE SOUTH LOOK BAD TO ACCEPT ISRAELI SUPPORT.

I AM NOT A PROFESSIONAL JOURNAIST. SO I WILL INFORM YOU THAT YOU HAVE JUST STATED THAT ISRAEL WAS INVOLVED FROM THE VERY BEGINNING. THEY ARE TRYING TO DESTROY SUDAN BECAUSE IT IS AFRICA'S LARGEST AND PROBABLY MOST PWERFUL COUNTRY. THAT MUCH IS CLEAR ENOUGH.

I THINK PEACE WILL COME AS SOON AS THE ISRAELIS AND THE BUSH GANG PUT PRESSURE ON THE REBELS TO SIT DOWN AND HOLD HONEST AND SINCERE NEGOTIATIONS WITH THE GOVERNMENT. PEOPLE ARE DYING AND SUFFERING BECAUSE THE REBELS DO NOT GIVE A HOOT ABOUT THE CIVILIAN POPULATUION.

^ Yeesh, where did this guy come from!?  Gotta lay off the caps lock man, it comes across like you're barking when theres no need.

So the situation in Darfur is bad but as they helped the Arabs in the first place its kind of like a bit of Karma coming round for them? The people in the south are able to defend themselves with the help of the SPLA and are ok for the most part? One article said that they hope to become a seperate state altogether.

With the way the west talk about it I thought that the Arabs were attacking the south and commiting acts there.

@abdurratln. I am not going to waste my time. I know you are a Palestinian masquerading as a Black person here on BNV. Just to let you know, we the Sons and Daughters of Africa, the Great Warriors of Kush who never ran from battles by Arab and European Aggressors detest Arab Sympathizers and those who tried to enslave us be they Europeans or Arabs like you. We fought the Arabs your people for 1600 years and counting, way before there was a Country called Israel or Palestine. We defended Africa and its interiors and we did a Good job at that, sacrifising millions of our people. Had it not been for us, half of Africa would have been Islamized and Arabized by now.

But Good luck in Palestine and Good luck fighting for your rights. Wish you all the luck and when you need help, ask us and just like Darfur we will come and help you fight for your rights in Palestine.niceone.gifniceone.gifBy the way Good luck fooling the Africans of the Diaspora. You guys did a good job with the NOI (Nation of Islam) and other African Diasporan Groups.

The Sudan situation can be very confusing. Yes it was the Arabs of the North attacking the South until 2002 and Commiting genocide and the Arabs were aided by the Darfuris. Sudan had been at war for 50 years since it got its Independence. The first war took place between 1956 and ended in 1972. At that time Israel helped us and our very own Uganda helped us through Idi Amin who is actually from Southern Sudan. In 1982, the second war erupted and this time we recieved almost all the help we needed from Russia and Cuba.

This time around many African Countries supported us such as Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, Zimbabwe, South Africa. Nigeria and Ghana and many other African Countries. They helped us both Politically, Financially and Educationally by giving Scholarships and openning their Universities for us among many other things. African leaders who fought Liberation wars in Southern Africa in Zimbabwe, Zambia, Angola, Mozambique, South Africa, Namibia welcomed us and gave us all we needed. Our civil servants were also trained in these Countries free of charge.

The Darfurians allied themselves with the Arabs in the North. In 1982 when the SPLA/SPLM was formed, it was formed wih the aim of fighting for all the marginalised people of the Sudan. The Darfurians were also marginalised just like the South but they opted to remain marginalize and follow orders like good servant boys respecting massa in the North, and they rebuffed our offers of joining forces together and liberating Sudan from the 30% Arabs who are ruining everything for everyone.

Instead they/Darfurians joined the Sudanese Army enmass and formed about 70% of the fighting Men and Women. The Darfurians were brain-washed and were the fighting men in the front lines dying. The Military officers were Arab Northerners and the men doing the dirty work were the Darfuris. The people of Darfur lacked Men and Women of Vision and most are un-educated and are more prone to follow Arab orders then think for themselves as free Men and Women.

And so they alongside their Arab colleagues wasted the South in the most vicious and inhuman way one can think of. But the Southerners persisted and defended themselves bravely. We not only fought the Arabs in Sudan, but we were fighting the entire Arab World. They came at us with everything they got, Chemical Weapons, Tanks, Fighter Jets, Helicopter Gunships but we held them at bay. The Southerners readily and simply annihilated everything they came at us with. By the late 2002, the Northern Government lost all the grounds they held in the South save 5%, but 95% of the South were in our hands of the SPLA/SPLM.

Not only that, the SPLA/SPLM decided to take the war to the North so they can feel the heat too and taste their own bitter medicine. The SPLA/SPLM was in force in the North in places like the Blue Nile Province and the Red Sea Province and it was then the North decided to sue for peace because they knew they were loosing the war.Since then the guns have been silent in the South. During the Peace negotiation between the North and the South, some of the hardcore and main Negotiators on behalf of the Government of Sudan were Darfurians such as men like Ali Elhag. They were opposed to the peace in the South.

When the North accepted all the demands of the South, it was then that the Northerners in the Government of Sudan turned on the people of Darfur. People of Darfur realized they were cheated and they saw that the South got its Freedom and Autonomy. The Darfurians in the Government of Sudan such as Ali Elhag went to Chad and started their own movements modelling themselves after the Southerners and they called their movement SLA (Sudan Liberation Army). Too little too late for Darfur. The same rebels fighting for the Darfurians were the same people who were fighting alongside the Government of Sudan all against the South. Israel and America had nothing to do with Darfur when it started. True many of the people demonstrating in Western Capitals are Jews, but they did not start the Darfur mayhem.

Dr. Hassan el Turabi the god-father of Jihad in the South and the man who holds real power in Sudan is the main instigator in Darfur. When he lost power and became irrelevant in Sudanese Politics he helped forment the troubles in Darfur, even though Turabi is a Northerner. Through his students such as Ali Elhag and Khalil Ibrahim the leader of one of the Darfur rebel JEM (Justice and Equility Movement) they formented some of the troubles in Darfur to get back at the Government of Sudan that has thrown them out and into the opposition.

That was why Turabi said we were all in this together. Maybe the Americans have an interest in Darfur right now, but then it was the Government of Sudan that gave them this opportunity by starting the mayhem in Darfur to begin with. So blaming everything on the Americans and Zionist will not solve anything at all. We need to blame ourselves and hold those people who started all the mess into account. Only and only then will we be able to keep the Americans and the zionist at bay. If you keep your house in order then nobody will attempt anything.

There will be a referendum in the South in 2011 and the people of the South will decide whether to stay in one Sudan or secede and form their own Country. We tried to live together for fifty (50) years and the people of the South will have to decide if they had enough or they want to try Unity with the North one more time. According to the polls, 95% of the people in the South voiced their opinion to vote for a separate COuntry. We will see if they still believe in Separation in four (4) years time from now.

they are alright because and only becasue the khartoum government implemeted islamic law by extending a peace propsoal to them.

With the way the west talk about it I thought that the Arabs were attacking the south and commiting acts there.

it just goes to show us how the zionists and the bush gang have implemetnted a systematic program of pumping this community full of lies and propaganda about what is goning on in sudan. the only place i know to get the truth about what is going on there is from sources outside the usa. bbc news is a good place to start. brother gamal nkrumah occasionally writes there. brother gamal is osagyefo's son and abd el nasser's grandson. he is an exepert pan-africanist in his own right.

here is what brother gamal said about sudan (keep in mind that brotehr gamal does not agree with everything that el-bashir's government does. but he would be nothing other than a traitor if he was fool enough to call for the bush gang to attack sudan):

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/africa/6177287.stm

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/africa/6058920.stm.

brother gamal also writes regularly at al-ahram weekly on pan-africaism. he is an editor at al-ahram weekly. here is his report on the situation in somalia, another bush gang farce:
