class="bigteaserpic"Children murder probe 'to take weeks'May 11 2007
MURDER detectives may have to wait weeks before finding out exactly what killed two young children whose bodies were discovered in a flat in Thornton Heath on Saturday. At the opening of the inquest into the deaths of Mickael Bousson, five, and Mary Bousson, six weeks, yesterday (Thursday) police said post mortems on the children had not established the cause of death. Toxicology reports may take several weeks to provide further vital clues. However police have said it was clear they did not die of natural causes and have launched a murder inquiry. Examinations did, however, reveal Mary had fractured ribs and Mickael, who attended Woodside Nursery and Infant school, had facial injuries. The children’s mother was sectioned under the Mental Health Act after the bodies were discovered by police at an address in Melfort Road on Saturday.
Detective Sergeant Ian Crank, who is leading the investigation, said police are still trying to trace the father of the children, who is believed to be living in France. He also appealed for any members of the children’s family to come forward. He added: "We are keeping an open mind as to whether someone else could be involved."
