my friend was on about this today and i was considering buying a cheapo mp3 player 128mb for £30
now i may wait for £20 more i get 512mb
any check out the newest member of the ipod family and what do you reckon

iPod Shuffle: Steve gave a warning to the rest of the digital music player market when he pointed out iPod's figures.
"A year ago iPod's market share was about 31% and flash players had 62%. We introduced the iPod Mini to go after the high end of the flash market. By January 2005, the iPod's market share has doubled to 65% and flash has halved. But we'd like to go after the remaining mainstream flash market."
And this little model is what they want to do that. No screen, and wearable (either pendant-style, sport armband etc), it's probably going to be a much more important product to Apple in terms of volume than the MacMini. It comes in sizes of 512MB and 1GB - not 2GB, which disappointed those of us who had thought it might be on the cards, and costs either $99 or $149. Contrary to rumours before the show, it *can* play designated playlists as well as on random, so it's not going to annoy music fanatics too much.

As far as I can see the 512mb one costs about £70. You can pick 512mb players up for about £50 now. Plus they have a screen and a radio built in.

Not trying to be an Apple basher, but it always seems that when Apple comes out with something thats already been out for years, everybody is like wow and rushes out and buys it.

Yeah thats the only problem with them, you can only get them online. I have only bought from that site once and it was ok, but I can't recomend it to you from 1 purchase.
However I have just checked http://www.ebuyer.com and they have a new range in stock. There 512mb player is a little more costy at £55 but I trust ebuyer 100%, heres the link:-

EDIT: Forgot to mention, the other bonus with these type of MP3 players is that they just show up as another disk in windows. yeah i located that too. i think i will get it as a birthday gift for me. i wonder if ebuyer delivers on saturday
it comes to £60.30 on standard delivery which is £9 shy of apple

| Apple always bringng one thing after another like they were the 1st to invent the sh*t and people follow like zombies today in the train this lowlifeof a girl was trying to impress me by flashing her new ipod just beacuse i brought out my minidisc player this fool was trying to outshine me stupid black fool . i would rather get a 1 gig or 5 gig mp3. but seeing how cheap these 512 mb players are , im tempted to save money. besides i never liked apple anyway.

Thankyou, somebody on the same wavelength as me. A few weeks back at work, they had ordered one of those Macs, you know the dome ones with a huge flat screen.
Everybody was in the office going oooh!!!! arrrh!!! It didn't occur to anyone that as flashly as they are, they're just an expensive under specced computer that can't do as much as their main competitors.
Same with the MP3 player in question in this thread, everybody was on the website today going, wow look how small it is. And I am sitting there, going "hello, look I have had something very similar for the last 1.5 years"
Although I can see why people like Apple, they make technology less geeky and more mainstream style I guess.

I was at a Education show at Earls court with my company, and I went to the Apple stand, the guy showed me the Ipod shuffle, and even though it was really light I think its just another over-priced flashy stuff that Apple has made.
I think its not worth it at all becuase there is no display on it, so you don't know what you are playing, u can only shuffle the songs, which ermm.... most player do.
At £60 I thinks its completely not worth it. I have an mp3 player from japan, 1gb and it even has radio and a dictaphone, and its the same size as the Ipod Shuffle, I thiks its way better.

It works fine, it use just 1 starndard AA4 battery, the buttons are in english, but when you turn it on first time its a Japanese, but you can easily change it the language option to english.
