Bismillaah. Salaam, All.
I've only recently received and (quick) tested (disk, runs on windows) this new "ubuntu" linux dist. on my notebook pc. So far it seems O.K. Just a problem with a shaky cursor. It came with two disks "ubuntu live cd' and 'ubuntu install cd' from which I ran the 'live cd' without installation to my HD; it ran O.K., on win XP. The "ubuntu install cd" is for a new pc, as it will wipe out any files that are installed, and install itself. They don't need the 'sexy' pic on the cover, since they already have a symbol, that can be useful to serve the same purpose.

| Look up knoppix and pull down a CD. Anytime I want to test out a PC, I just slap it in and run it. THe guy does a pretty good job with it. It can get ignorant if you try to install it on your HDD, but as a bootable CD it is pretty nice for troubleshooting or if you just want the kids to be able to hit the internet and not download trojans left and right.
