Just wondering if anybody else has made the big switch from Internet Explorer to firefox?

I made the switch last week and I can say I am well impressed. The browsing seems a little bit more snappy and it seems more stable overall. At first I wasn't to sure about the tabbed browsing feature, but I am really getting to like it now.

Give it a go:-

I used to use IE, but was suffering from too many problems and d/l too many patches for it. Switch over to Firefox, and believe me I won't be going back to IE.

I tried Mozilla for awhile, but encountered its inability to work with flash/plug-in objects. When they develop a media player that can playback web-based files I might stick with them, but its an excellent workaround to all the security issue mumbo jumbo of IE

Nope I would maybe say it is even more user friendly. It blocks popups for a start. Aside from that its pretty similar to IE. Also it should import all your favorites and other settings from IE which is very handy.

Although the updates and addons are much easier to install. You just click "extentions" in the tools menu and it takes to you to a page with loads of extra people have made. One of them is a "view this page in IE" which is very useful if you visit a page which doesn't work with firefox, although this is very rare. All you do is click it and say yes I want to install and it does it....great

My brother put it on my computer (he's one of them computer nerds, hates Microsoft, loves Linux etc). I don't remember encounterging that many problems with flash etc. block-up/dowload blocking is a real bonus.

I just had a big discussion about this at work today.  Unfortunately, we won't be using anything other than IE at work but I do love FireFox's ability to tab from page to page instead of opening new windows.  As far as MS goes, the public has to hit them where it hurts...their pockets.  Since Mozilla released the full version 1.0 MS 's stock has dropped and Mozilla's has increased.  I think that MS has had the market on "lock down" long enough.

i use firefox quite a bit.
to the person who asked the basic firefox is just as easy to use as ie.
but then on top of that you have the extensios that let you add bare different functions on top.
tabbed browsing in one of the main ones that people talk about.
mouse gestures is one that i couldn't live without.
it lets you assign different commands to mouse movements with the right button held down.
for example hold the right button then move up and then down to refresh the page.
don't like much of a big ting but like i said i couldn't be without it.

another good browser is opera, it aint free though(but serials are too easy to find for it)
i'm using opera to view this page cos it's got a function that lets me overrule them butters fonts some of the people here use and just look at normal text

I am a devotee of CrazyBrowser...Multiple Tabs...any new windows are easily opened from a bar at top of window....dont know why all browsers are not like that.

Damn... i just saw this thread after posting my one...

this is a great browser. the reason some webpages dont work with it is cos they are basic and include sloppy written scripts. soon they will have to update as firefox and the like overtake IE.

in a few days ill post the needed extensions for firesomething, adblock, hotmail, etc.
