I had the same problem and I'm sure I cleared it by control panel, add/remove programs or I removed it through taskbar & start menu, not quite sure.  Anyway if that hasn't worked install spybot-search & destroy, and lavasoft ad-aware, that will definitely clear it.  You can get both of them from http://www.download.com.  I installed both of them because what ad-aware doesn't clear spybot will, but they are both good.  Anyway after u have done that and restarted the computer everything should be back to normal.  I don't know what norton u have, but i have the one that does the one button check, I would run that after restarting the computer to confirm it has gone.

Good luck!

@ladyday

i had the same problem...

its a very hard problem to get rid off...

very complex...

it involves u running regedit

and maually deleting the files...

which are hard to identify..

a lot of coresponding files also are hiding in your winint folder.. and common files...

i would not advise u trying to run regedit if u are not extremely experienced or u could mess up your computer by deleting wrong files...

get someone who knows what their are doin ..to help u out.. this is a very deep problem... also download mcafee the latest version i think its version 7 or 8.. when the problem has been fixed... to protect your computer... running out of date virus software... is like having no anti virus protection

you can download the full version from kazaa

Yeah sorry, You have to download the programs. Heres the direct links, just click them, download the file and install/run them. The first one is a pretty simple program and should kill the spyware, without having to edit the registry. If it doesn't itslikely that the second one will:-

Don't worry about that, its a known bug on some systems, it just mis-detects it. As long as thats the only thing showing, your clean.

The best thing about Spybot is that you can immunize your machine (have a hunt around for it), this helps to block any future attempts, although that spyguard is probably doing it already.

If you still have MyWebSearch problems and you already used spybot and ad-aware then I would use AdSpy Eliminator . You can download a trial version for free. I found that in most cases it found everything else.

Good Luck!

some other methods ive come accross.....

Firstly you need to run Hi-Jack this (download from:http://www.download.com/HijackThis/3000-8022_4-10307556.html?tag=lst-0-1)

R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - {00A6FAF6-072E-44cf-8957-5838F569A31D} - C:\Program Files\MyWebSearch\SrchAstt.bin\MWSSRCAS.DLL

O2 - BHO: MyWebSearch Search Assistant BHO - {00A6FAF1-072E-44cf-8957-5838F569A31D} - C:\Program Files\MyWebSearch\SrchAstt.bin\MWSSRCAS.DLL

O2 - BHO: mwsBar BHO - {07B18EA1-A523-4961-B6BB-170DE4475CCA} - C:\Program Files\MyWebSearch\bar.bin\MWSBAR.DLL

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [MyWebSearch Email Plugin] C:\PROGRA~1\MYWEBS~1\bar.bin\mwsoemon.exe

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [MyWebSearch Email Plugin] C:\PROGRA~1\MYWEBS~1\bar.bin\mwsoemon.exe

O4 - Startup: MyWebSearch Email Plugin.lnk = C:\Program Files\MyWebSearch\bar.bin\MWSOEMON.EXE

O4 - Global Startup: MyWebSearch Email Plugin.lnk = C:\Program Files\MyWebSearch\bar.bin\MWSOEMON.EXE

O8 - Extra context menu item: &Search - http://bar.mywebsearch.com/menusearch.html?p=ZSYYYYYYYYUS

How Do I Remove Smiley Central?

First, uninstall Smiley Central from Add/Remove Programs

1) Click on Start, Settings, Control Panel

2) Double click on Add/Remove Programs

3) Find "My Web Search (Smiley Central)" in the list of installed programs and click on Change/Remove to uninstall it. You may also want to uninstall any of the following items associated with FunWebProducts.

* My Web Search
* My Way Speedbar (Smiley central or other FWP as applicable)
* My Way Speedbar (AOL and Yahoo Messengers) (beta users only)
* My Way Speedbar (Outlook, Outlook Express, and IncrediMail)
* Search Assistant - My Way

4) Reboot your Computer and run HijackThis

5) With HijackThis, scan for and fix any of the entries shown above that may be remaining.

6) Next, open My Computer, Drive C, and double-click on the Program Files folder

7) Right-click and delete the folders for:

*FunWebProducts
*MyWebSearch

8) Smiley Central should now be completely uninstalled from your computer.

If that dont work Try this dedicated removal tool!

http://www.download.com/Smiley-Central-and-MyWebSearch-Removal-Tool/3000-8022_4-10341552.html

or try Start > Run > Regedit

Search for the guilty party!

or look at your startup folder?

Usually found in Docs and settings > start menu > programs? Because it doesn't matter how many times, you've cleaned/deleted the syware, there could be an .exe residing in your start up folder which could re-install everything!

or try

Ok - so've done the startup folder stuff, I found a pretty good guide from cexx.org

This is how to do it from the registry!

1) Open REGEDIT. It should have been installed when you installed Windows. You can most easily do this by clicking Start > Run, and entering REGEDIT in the box. (Click OK). The Registry Editor window will appear.

If you have used Registry Editor before and are comfortable with it, skip the following paragraph. If you are a newbie or you've never used REGEDIT before, read on--standard warnings and stuff.

You may have heard somewhere that editing the Registry is dangerous. Incidentally, this is why so many makers of trash apps place the start-up information here-- many users have never heard of the Registry, let alone edited it. The Registry is an important part of your system, so don't go randomly changing stuff in there if you don't know what you are doing--this is how problems happen, and this is why people tell you that you shouldn't go messing with your Registry. Carefully follow the instructions below and it will be a very safe process. Randomly mess around and change/delete stuff, and you may end up reinstalling Windows--which isn't much fun.

2) Once in Registry Editor, press the F3 key to bring up the Find dialogue. Type "RunServices" in the box. This probably won't find your trash app, but it will bring us to about the right location in the Registry. When the Find completes, you should have a folder named RunServices highlighted in the left pane, with several similar-sounding folders (Run, RunOnce, etc.) listed nearby. Click on the first one, "Run". The righthand pane will list the applications that run at start-up. Under "Name" will be the program names, and under "Data" will be the path and filename of the program.

Look carefully at the list and see if you find the program that is annoying you. If you find it, highlight it and use Edit > Delete to remove it. If you don't see it, cycle through the other nearby Run-like folders (there may be several) and look for them there. Be careful not to delete anything unless you are sure it is your trash app.

If you have looked through all the visible "Run"-like folders and *still* haven't found the trash app, press F3 again to find the next RunServices folder, and repeat the steps above. On some Windows setups, particularly where several people share the same machine, there will be several of each Run folder. Continue in this manner until you receive a message such as "Finished searching through the registry." You should have found it by now!

3) Close Registry Editor. The next time you restart your computer, the trash app will not bother you!

if none of that works then try running adaware, spybot, spyhunter and giant anti spyware in safe mode, and delete any dodgy programmes you have.

one more

Try downloading and using this executable : http://www.spychecker.com/download/download_hijackthis.html

Its a program called "Hijack this" and lists all the add ons that have associated themselves with intenet explorer - be carefull though removing the wrong thing (if its a needed component) can cripple internet explorer.

Also make sure you do a full system scan whilst loged in as an admin making sure yoy scan other users' temporary internet files directories.
