So..it is Bank Holiday Monday, and I am just lazying around the house doing nothing.
Then i had the bright idea that a warm glas of milk would do my body some good. Next thing I know, is I have poured all the milk on my laptop.
I have tried all the tricks in the book I know, but the laptop just wont back to life.
It is an IBM thinkpad T-series.
Anyone got any suggestions on what I can do to bring it back to life? I havent backed up my data in 6weeks. I have over an extra Gig of music since my last back up, and I practically has my lifes work on it.
ANyone had this experience or know someone that has, what did they do? and how was it solved.

i havn't had this specific problem, but i had one similar. I spilled orange juice down the back of my TV. I called some repair people and they said it was a good thing i did. If it had been water it would have dried out and been fine. But as it was juice, it would leave a sticky residue which would have caused further damage.
My advice is, as it is milk, get it professionally looked at as soon as possible as the longer you leave it, the worse the damage may be (not to mention it will start to stink lol)
I recently had to replace the hard drive in my laptop (not because of spillage, just because it was knackered!!) it cost me £80 for the hard drive (£65 plus VAT).
The guy who fixed it couldn't retrieve the stuff on my old hard drive there and then because it would only load up to 80% but he said he could take it away and retrieve all the lost stuff. I had nothing really important on it so i didn't bother. But it is possible, depending on the damage. Like i say, the sooner you get it sorted, the less the damage will be. Good luck!

I hope you unplugged it quickly and turned the laptop upside down to try to minimize the amount of milk that went into it. The milk may not have gotten to the drive in which case at least it can be connected to another computer and data removed.
Cleaning that laptop could be a real b***h. I would think any place that does laptop repairs regularly would have a reasonably efficient technique for this but they can't know if electrical damage occured until after they cleaned it and tested it. That might mean a new motherboard. Significant bucks, I mean pounds.

Thanks a lot guys.
@ Umbra, I did exactly that, turned it upside down, and switched it off immediately.
@Madam butterfly, I already removed the harddisk and retrieved and backed up my data. It even started up on another pc. SO I am still hoping. (Got sentimental attachment to that laptop (lol)).
But thanks for the advice. I will keep you updated.

I can totally relate! i was pissed when mine was out of action for a couple of months. I would rather fix it than get a new one!! when the repair guy put in the new hard drive, i said it had a new heart!! of course, he understood completly lol
