Can I just buy an amount and stick it in? Is it all universal? Does any RAM card I buy suitable for my PC? How do I know what specs my PC needs to have to buy a particular amount of RAM?
My PC hasn't been upgraded in a long time and the slowness of 256 is annoying me. Any other suggestions on how to speed it up short of buying a new bloody thing.

Have you tried defragging your hard drive?
That might speed things up a bit
As for your ram, you could download CPU-X
http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php
and go to the memory section

You mean I download that little thingy and it will tell me what RAM I can buy? I've done the defrag thingy but it didn't really speed anything up that much.

| Yeah, you just need to download the program and go the memory section, the program will tell you what type of ram you are currently using
