Does anybody knows what this below shown error message means?. I was trying to set up a Data Source Name (DSN) to a Microsoft SQL server Database 2000, when i encountered it. Look forward to hearing from you.
connection failed:
SQLState: '01000'
SQL Server Error: 53
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][DBNETLIB]ConnectionOpen (Connect())
Connection Failed:
SQLState:'08001'
SQL Server Error: 17
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][DBNETLIB] SQL Server does not exist or access denied.

I don't know what it means but a Google search on this:
"SQLState: '01000'" "Error: 53"

In XP or 2000?
Also were you using NT authentication or SS authentication?
Another goofy thing about SS is that sometimes you have to check your network libararies. You may have to go TCP/IP with the determine port box checked in. Sometimes Named pipes just does not work
Even better question, is the name of the server, the database you are connecting to, the user name and password spelled correctly? I cannot tell you how many times that it has looked correct to me only to later come back and see that ws the culprit. LOL
Also are you trying to go from server to server or connecting an application to the server?
