guys
my friends msn messenger is signing into two versions
so she has the old version and the latest 7.0 but they both sign her in autonmatically. which is getting annoying.
how do you get rid of the old messenger. have already looked in add/remove and the old one is not listed.
any help appreciated

If she can't get rid of it. She should log into it. Then go to "options" then change the settings. Uncheck the box that says "Automatically sign me in" she should uncheck all of the boxes on that page, because they are linked with signing in automatically.
I'll make it clearer lol
1) Sign in using the old Messenger
2) Go to 'Tools' then 'Options'
3) Then go to the 'General' tab
On the general tab, there's three checked boxes at the top with writin next to them, all linked with something to do with signing in automatically. Uncheck all of them. Then save the settings. This should stop it signing in automatically. I'm not sure how you can get rid of the program completely unless u try going to control panel, but sorry if this hasn't helped at all! lol

Hey ladyday...
Assuming we're working with XP (as I'm not sure what the procedure would be with y2k or older versions of windows) ask your friend to try this. Click on "set program access and defaults" in the start menu then click on the "add/remove windows components" tab. Once that opens up, scroll down till you find "windows messenger". If this is ticked, un-tick it and then click on next and follow the steps to completion. What's happened is that this older version of messenger came pre-installed with all the other windows software that came with the operating system hence you couldn't find it under add/remove programs.
Hope this helps.
