I went online one day (as u do) then a auto msg came up from one of my friends saying "I know who's blocked me because of MSN Block Checker" with the link next to it. So I installed it, and went through all the steps. It was successfully installed on my computer, but when I tried to run the program, it said something about a "Script Error". Also, whenever I signed onto MSN, it put up the auto msg from my my computer into online conversations, and it keeps coming up throughout conversations. This was annoying me, so I uninstalled it, and my computer said it's successfully uninstalled, but the link kept on coming on conversations still, so I restarted, only to find the damn thing back on there, I went through the same cycle over three times....is it a virus or what? Or has it actually worked for anyone? It's really annoyin me.

You shouldn't install it.  They usually add rubbish to your Internet Explorer window.

I was going to post that.

I too was going to install it but then I remembered Adware and spyware that always seems to find itself on my computer.. buddy.com and all that smiley rubbish. Try going to Control panel and add or remove programs and check if anything has been added there.

This has all the signs of a "standard-issue" IM worm/trojan/virus. You should contact the friend that you first received the message from because they are most likely infected as well.

"a auto msg came up from one of my friends" -- worms forward themselves without the sender realizing it

"the link next to it" -- most likely the location of the trojan installation file

"it said something about a "Script Error"" -- worms/trojans often pretend to not install properly to throw off the user

"it put up the auto msg from my my computer into online conversations" -- it has begun to forward itself

"link kept on coming on conversations" -- the worm never really uninstalled itself

"I went through the same cycle over three times" -- you can't uninstall the virus/worm/trojan without using *both* antivirus *and* spyware programs

Oh ok, so I gotta get rid of it usin Norton Antivirus? Thanx a lot, I'ma try it now, I'ma have to get  spyware detector software though, I'm not sure if it's included on the Antivirus package, but I'll soon find out.

okay so im assuming the only way to get rid of this stupid block checker thing is to use processkill.zip or whatever, since that seems to be what everyone is saying. but i have a problem. Once it's downloaded, i get the folder called ProcessKill[1] that has the program in it, and sometimes a read-me folder or whatever (depending on where i download it from) once i click the program to open it, i click run, but then it pops up saying "Component 'Mscomctl.ocx' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid" WHAT DO I DO?!? (i tried adding a picture to this post of both the folder and the pop up message thing but it's too big)

Hmm... That's weird. All I did was download it and let the download go to the my Desktop (or, if you are using FireFox, just double click the file in the Download window and extract the folder and .exe file to the Desktop). The program itself is programkiller, the icon seems to be a flame torch or something. Just double click it and find the file(s) that MasterFunk mentioned and click the Terminate button. The do the rest MasterFunk says.

Thanx to everyone for all the advice and stuff. I'ma try everythin! lol. My friend told me she got rid of it by doing a scan with her Mcafee virus thingy, then she said she had to download a spyware detector thing online, then the block checker came up on the list as a spyware program that had been detected and she got rid of it that way. I don't know if that would work for everyone, but I haven't had a chance to try it yet, cause my connection's been cut off for the past few days lol. I'ma try everything anyway

Thx agen!

I know the process kill prob does work just did not trust any software that comes from the blockchecker site, the manual removal i described earlier gets rid of evrything, so if you have probs with the process kill program simply remove it manually

ok well i wouldnt trust any downloadable software for msn.
i have found an online block checker but it isnt as reliable now that msn messenger versions 7.0 and 7.5 have been released. you enter the email of the person who you think may have blockd you and it tells you their status. (it actually opens a conversation with them and imediatly goes offline). this is all well and good but in the new msns their is a default setting in privacy "only people in my allow list can see my status and send me messages. this stops people outside your contact list sending you messages (it helps stop a form of advertising that companies such as volvo use). if this setting is ticked the block checker doesnt work.confused2

try it if you want: http://www.blockstatus.com/msn/stcheckerblktype

ps i wudnt trust the other "delete checker" on this site
