Looks like there will be a broadband war coming soon, how does 24Mbps by the end of the year sound?
This allows Easynet to sell ADSL broadband at speeds up to 8Mbps, and it is aiming to offer 24Mbps services before the end of the year.

Only tip I can give is take out a monthly contract if possible not yearly, as there is a lot of price cutting going on.

That's what I thought DM. I went from the fastest to the slowest and as long I can still get onto sites, what real difference do they make?

| That depends - If an ISP is in violation of its terms and agreement then it's basically ripping you off without you knowing.

I have 5mbit/sec cable internet here (I often get those speeds to servers both in the US and in Europe), but our local phone company has implemented a fiber-to-the-home service that allows speeds of up to 30mbit/sec. (I haven't tested it out because I stay in an apartment that I don't plan on keeping long-term). Many places in Asia (like Japan, Korea, and China) already have 50-100mbit connections. Of course, most of the bandwidth only speeds up "local" traffic (as in, traffic to servers in your country or local area).

| Mine says 10.0 mbps. Is that bad? Does 'bps' stand for 'bits per second'? What does the 'bb' mean in '10mb bb'?

Mbps Stand for: M=mega b=bit p=per s=second
you have to check if it say "speed", if it say speed that is the speed of connection, it also depend if you are in local network of ethernet 10Mbps connection. If that is the case it will not give you the real spead connection from the back bone. easy way to see this is to tranfer a file and see the rate of tranfer
