Sorry I'm not sure if this is going to be much help to you. I had no end of trouble with the same problem.
I even paid for a hotmail account where one is suppose to be able to recieve hotmail in Outlook Express but to no avail.
The only easy way I know where you can have hotmail if you have Outlook, but I have not tried it yet to find out whether that is true.
Having said that, one is suppose to be able to set up Hotmail in Outlook Express as your other accounts.
From the toolbar in Outlook Express, click on Tools, Accounts, Add, then Mail.
Providing you have all your details such as your hotmail address, your password, the wizard should take you through the rest.
Good luck!

| If you had an account way back when, say 1998 your account can be set up with outlook even though they say it is now a pay service. I don't pay and I configured mine to sync with it. If you add email service as HTTP once you put in your password and username it should be automatic. If you are paying for Hotmail and can't sync it with hotmail you need to contact Hotmail support and get it resolved.

i know this but work for an internet company and many customers have to pay for pop3 access such as outlook microsoft outlook etc. even though its a web based service they are able to restrict the mails being retrieved by pop3 servers.

| You used to be able to sync your hotmail account with outlook express by clicking on tools, then accounts, and adding the hotmail account info...but I was recently emailed by hotmail, saying they are no longer offering this service. So chances are if you had'nt previously set this up, you may ever be able to do this. If you are paying for it (hotmail) then you should be able to sync it via the new outlook express live in which you also have to pay for! Good luck!

| Exactly like stylish said. I've been receiving messages from Hotmail for a while with that warning... that new Hotmail accounts would not supported by Outlook or Outlook Express. Same sh*t from Yahoo as well. Unless you want to pay for it!!!

| AOl has its own Outlook email interface, I've seen it but never used it. In theory if you are paying for Internet service and there is a web service you should be able to configure outlook or outlook express for http mail and any pop3 account, I even use a different email config with mine. Keep trying or better yet, go to aol mail's support page and follow the email instructions.
