Ubuntu Linux is actually a good stable build of the windows alternative Operating Systems. But like Linux you gotta do a little bit of tweaking and things. Cant complain because it is free and functional!

Bismillaah.   Salaam, All.

Ubuntu, is giving me trouble.  I couldn't login as root [admin.].  Only as a user.   It later asked for a host name during install, then inserted 'debian'.  At the next prompt it claimed that 'debian' was invalid as a host name.   At login, I was presented with some type of argument, stating that 'debian' could be allowed if I wanted to add it using a shell command, or similar words.  I haven't decide what I want to do with the program.  I didn't set it up.  I only perused it.  It lacks some of the features I am used to in linux, but maybe I can DL them.

I installed Ubuntu on my Dell Laptop, I reinstalled it and left most of the fields Blank, you may want to try it, when you want to skip a proces during install hit esc to move on. I prefer to set all that other stuff up once the installation is complete. I've had bad experiences with Suse and I got locked out over a password. You also have to have all the devices hooked up in order for the system to recognize them upon installation. If you still have problems goto the Ubuntu forums for support.

Peace Kat!

Bismillaah. Salaam, All.

Baron_Samedi, Basic_Meo, much thanks for the information, and link. I'll try to make time for a follow-up on the Ubuntu, install. I have Ubuntu, on another drive that I had purchased for my notebook. My plan was to move to linux. I still have that in mind, but I can't find the time to work things out. It may be a while before I can complete it. It calls for removing the old drive, each time. Also, I may have to re-install Ubuntu, for 'best results.' I've noticed (link) that Ubuntu has added a new edition,5.04.
