I saw this on the news. It's a difficult situation.  I understand both sides.

The ONLY reason I understand her side is because she's 47 and feels as if her window for giving birth is narrowing.

But I also feel it's unfair for someone to be a parent against their will, then you have the issue of responsibility and child support rearing its' ugly head.

Like DSP I can understand both sides.  But we have to consider the wider principle here.

If we consider that the woman's case should be allowed to prevail, thus making the man a parent against his will, what then about a situation where a woman, already pregnant, wants to have an abortion whilst the man wants her to have the child?  I am not talking about the 'morality of abortion' argument here by the way, but what I am asking is, should she be made to become a parent against her will?

It should not come down to fact that it is the woman's body in the abortion situation, whereas in case of the embroy there is no effect on the man's body............that's just the way nature designed it and should not deflect from the wider principle..............i.e. Should anyone, man or woman, be made to become a parent against his/her will?

Respect

Kunjufu,

I always thought that when a man and a woman get together, they should be compatible in some areas. This issue is one of them. If a woman wants to have children, then she should get with man who share( and continues to share them). While I think that she should have rights to have children,at the same time her husband also have rights. Although there are many women doing it, I would hate to see her give birth to that child and one day telling him/her that " You don't have no father because he didn't want you. To me, she would almost being doing something of a sperm donor, but then again who knows? if she goes ahead with it, he may change his mind.
