My 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th prefernce for a partner is an Igbo woman
At this current moment in time the idea of marrying anybody else is not realistic. It just won't happen
Fast Forward 5 years and if 'm still at home playing Pro Evo when all my boys are getting married then I might be a bit more open
I dont suspect that my view is that alien. If we were to start a thread about whre you and your partner are from I wouldnt expect too much deviance. I wonder why that is?
This whole 'rainbow, kum-by-ya, we're all black' propoganda is all well and good but it doesnt stand up to scrutiny
As much as we say Race Matters, Nationalit matters as well. To a lesser extent of course, but it still matters

Ok.
But I swear you're Jamaican? Correct me if i'm wrong though. You seem very liberal. I've read several of your posts in my time here. The same goes for Kunjufu. Isn't he Jamaican as well? It's kind of weird you defending Africans and Africa so much but obviously this is blackchat.
Edit: I just realised how the last sentence just sounded. I don't mean that in a bad way but most people just want to defend their immediate country rather than their ancestors. For example, Americans of English stock don't really defend England or say how proud they are that they're anglo-saxon. Although come to think of it, i suppose they are very proud of their anglo-saxon heritage. Bah, i don't know what to think...
Blaze: can explain this comment because i don't get it......

I don't even know what i'm saying myself, lol. I guess what i'm trying to say is that the pro africanness of posters like Incognito even though they're not from there (officially) is quite strange, but not in a bad way. Most people wouldn't give their children African names if they weren't African.

@ Blaze - now you get why Brits dont get African Americans?
by the way I think Anglo-saxon Americans are very proud of their roots - you just dont see it because it is so much a part of you that it doesn't seem different. They give their Children European names....so why shouldn't a black man anywhere in the world give his children African names if he so chooses??
Want more example of European American pride? what about all the recent fanfare with the Queen visiting Jamestown?
If African Americans defended and held on to their African roots the way other groups do, imagine how difference things would be.

blaze - the strangeness (not in a bad way) is multipled 100 fold by those who share your perspective only when it comes to Africans in the diaspora giving their children African names. Bet you wouldn't bat an eyelid with African diasporans not born in Greece giving their children Greek names
My childrens names come with respect for Africa. When asked what their names mean Africa will be the first place they think of. Africa is the reference point as opposed to Africa is only Africa when compared to Europe. The latter gets you in all kinds of trouble like defining beauty by European standards and sewing white peoples hair into your head

Not in the slightest mate. For a diasporan to be called a greek name is weird for me too. It's just that most Caribbean blacks have European names. What's the history behind the name, 'Jermaine' by the way?
Even in Africa, loads of people have European first names. It doesn't mean they don't have African names either but they are interchangeable if you know what I mean. It doesn't make them less African.
