I am a member of nappturality and it is a good source of info on napptural hair. I must warn you that they don't really take to women with relaxers. you can regisister to get tips etc but i wouldn't suggest you post
the link again http://www.nappturality.com
Yes I know! whenever they hear the word Relaxer they go mad. that is a pity. I wear my hair natural, but use the Natural laxer to soften and strenghten my hair (just as the Maroccan woman use ghassoul to cleanse and soften their hair). the Natural laxer that I use is all herbal (sage, rose petal, fenugreek etc etc), but just because there is the word "relaxer'" in the name, they just removed my reaction on nappturality.
many woman that are natural use products to soften their hair of give more definition. It's a pity that they refuse to look or listen to something just because of a name........ In my opinoin you should give people as much info you can give them in order for them to make their own decision
They also won't allow you to talk about hair type there. Oprah's hair stylist wrote a book about various hair types 1a - 4c usually blacks fall in the 3b-4c range but it will just show up as "nappy" if you type those number/letters in which was silly because all blacks don't have the same type of hair.
I know this from experience because I tried to treat my napptural hair like a friend of mine who had 3c hair (I have 4a hair) and my hair was very dry and I started getting a lot of split ends. It was because we had different hair types that needed to be cared for differently (i.e. I couldn't wash my hair every single day or even every other day) It is important to know your hair type and take hair advice only from those who have a similar hair type to your own. But when you aren't allowed to even reveal your hair type

you are soooo right!!!
Nappturality is a good forum, but they need to recognize that indeed not all "nappy" hair is the same.
my hair is very curly and I use products to give my curls more definition, but it is also very dry. I cannot use the same products as someone with 3c, even when it looks like it.
I do not think they should withold information, because that is how I see it. We do need to learn from eachother, but we also need to know that there are many mant different types of nappy hair!!!

| I used to use Organics - but dat dun BUN UP ma scalp. Dat was paaiinful. So I started usin Gentle Treatment, an didn't feel any burnin whatsoever. Organics does produce good results tho, and so does gentle treatment, different people will have different reactions, so I can't say what the best one is, but the best one for me personally is gentle treatment. I heard Dark and Lovely isn't that good (numerous people have told me this) but I don't know cause I've never tried using it

As I said befor, I myself wear my hair natural. My sister however uses Motions and I have to say het hair looks really healthy!
I think it is essential for people to see what works well on their own hair instead of just using something because everyone else does

That's funny....I've been in the hair business for twelve years now. There's no such thing as a natural relaxer. In order for African American hair to relax, (as in straighten), there has to be a chemical added.
A good relaxer, (if you prefer relaxed hair), is Vital. They have several different strengths. I find it better than Affirm. I don't really care for affirm nor KeraKare. I have fine hair and Kerakare products are way too heavy. The Affirm line has products that are lightweight. It's an excellent line. Not to knock Affirm. To be honest, it all depends on your hair type. What's good for me may not be what's good for you. Affirm and Vital are apart of the same line. One's just a bit heavier that the other. If I had to pick I would definitely say go with those two lines. Dark & Lovely products, relaxer and color are very harsh and drying on our hair.
I personally have been natural for eight years now. When I became pregnant my hair would not accept any chemicals and I've been natural ever since. I try to convince my customers to try it. Especially if they have fine hair. When you go natural, (the way God made you), you'll find that the hair is much healthier, much stronger. It even grows faster, simply because you aren't feeding it with unnatural things. It's definitely a personal choice. I love my natural hair and wouldn't go back for anyone.

And that's great...for you. Why can't people stay ON topic without coming into a non-natural hair thread and sneaking in their personal choices? Aren't we all grown and able to make our own choices without being policed and treated like children? It's not allowed for those of us relaxing to come into a natural hair thread and impose our opinions. Why do you think it's okay to do it here? It's rude and disrespectful....
