| This is open to the floor it is beyond me the lack of unity between black people. The biggest divided is african and west indians why are we so far apart. You find the west indians think they are better than the Africans because of there european names and the other way round the Africans thinking they have more tradition therefore they are better. Even in africa you have an east west divide for example somali and nigerians different culture look and view each other in different lights. Ghanains and Nigerians there are just so many clashes how can we all say we are black if we dont identify with the same culture muslims and christian blacks, music, food i could go on. i just want thoughts and reactions to my point if we are so divided are we really one. Tell me u talk about dating within you race then what about dating out of your culture ie caribean or african. (please a contemporary response not taking me back to slavery or egyptian people and all them things)

We are divided as a community this will not change as long as we aspire to become fully westernised. It is sad but true that most blacks have at some stage in thier life wished they were white or at least equal to the white man. the worst part of this train of thought is that many believe that the white man is some how in a postion that they wish to reach. Many Carribeans want to walk like, talk like, and even look like the white man (and then call themselves professionals) after which they start to look down at anybody who reminds them of themselves including the man in the mirror. thier are many Africans who look down on carribeans not because we have European names, but because we can't speak any of thier native toungs.
Obviosly these veiws are my own wanted to say more but got to run

Black people are just hard-headed and rebellious by nature, not evil or bad by nature, just HARD-HEADED and don't wanna listen to anyone tell us what to do.
Most of us have strong personalities and hot tempers and the ONLY way black people will ever be able to get along together is under STRONG leadership who are willing to bust heads and FORCE us to work and live together.
Word man, I ain't lying! 
Them little bruthaz you see fighing eachother in the street ain't gonna just clean up one day, put on a suit and start acting intelligently. You're gonna have to KILL a few of them, beat the hell out of a whole lot of others and keep them in line under threat of harm or death until a next generation is produced not learning and picking up on our evil ways.
The same way with different groups of black people from around the globe. It's all about sex and money. One group of bruthaz think THEY'RE smarter and look better than the other bruthaz and want to be the leader. The women can basically fall in line and get along but the MEN...if someone who ain't from our neighborhood just LOOKS at us the wrong way we're quick to take offense, form up a little gang, and go to war. Every man vowing to out do the next one.
Believe me, if the were NO Africans around and only Caribbeans from the SAME island, we're gonna find SOMETHING to divide ourselves over and fight about.
When you have 2 or 3 strong personalities in a room together each vowing NEVER to give in, what do you think will happen soon? 
It's not just an African-Caribbean thang, it's an EGO thang.
Black people are fighting and killing eachother in the streets of America, the Caribbean, SouthAmerica, parts of Africa and they are all of the SAME GROUP....but somehow found differences among themselves and started fighting over them.
Again, we need a STRONG LEADER or LEADERSHIP to pick up a bat and FORCE us to put the bullsh*t aside, get along together and work toward success.
Believe me, you'll know that leader when he comes,
Because unlike TRADITIONAL black leaders talking peace, HE'S gonna come with a bloody sword giving us a choice to either,
"UNITE OR PERISH"!

It's would be a sad state of affairs if it comes to a point where it would take someone to "force" a people to somehow come to their senses about who they are. Well I know I won't see that person in my lifetime because as far as I know, it's nigh on impossible to force someone to do anything unless one uses dictatorial means!
Unfortunately, the past does have a reflection on the present as well as the future. The fact that there is no "unity" among our people , I feel was not soley a contributory factor by the slave trade but beforehand there were warring factions between differing tribes, so the question of "unity" is not that convincing to me. Unity to a degree within the tribe as a group but not as a "people". If there was ever any "unity" before, leaders/chiefs of tribes may have thought twice before agreeing to sell their people in the first place.
What I'd like is to hear accounts from west indians who actually live and work in Africa. I understand at last count there are approximately 5,000 jamaicans living and working in Ghana. It would be good to hear from "the horses mouth" on both sides how they feel living and working alongside each other in African society rather than here in the UK.

Thats right this stupid divid is way overdue to stop, we even have problems with names identifying ourselves.
Thats why I like to say brother or sister when addressing my race as to not offend as some don't like the word black, African, British etc and I ain't got time for that bullcrap. But you know what a common mistake is when you say brother or sister some take this so personal and feel that because of this title I find no fault in them and vice versa. This is not true as everyone knows in a family there is or may be sibling rival dated from way back when......don't want to pull out the bible now. What I simply mean is that I am acknowledging you as my race because that should always come first before country and nationality. But this common identity that we can all accept on equal levels needs to come quick for the sake of the new generation, because now you have white people saying "wots up bro" or should I say white guys because I have never heard a white girl use this term yet......hmmmm.

You should see the way Koreans, Japanese, and Chinese interract with each other. They LOATHE each other in a way that most Africans/Caribbeans do not. All they ever do is insult each other. On the anniversary of the rape of Nanking, China by the Japanese, the Japanese went over to Nanking and hired 200 Chinese prostitutes and mocked them. In Japan, Koreans are treated in a way that is reminiscent of American blacks in the South in the 1960s and even if they are born and bred in Japan they are not allowed to become Japanese citizens - no rights either. And they all despise Thais, Philippinos and other poorer asian nations, not to mention the hatreds that exist between P*kistanis and Indians. Don't always be so quick to assume 'all' Caribbeans 'hate' Africans. There is a strengthening pride in the Caribbean for their African roots, Barbados being a key example. (Been there, I know). In the hotels, they treat black visitors better than whites.
When you visit other ethnic websites you get a better overall view of the world situation. I have visited Chinese, Korean, Japanese, East Indian and Black American and Native American websites. Believe me, many of their concerns are just as pressing to them as ours are to us, and they have similar problems concerning racial pride, identity and status in the world, particularly Asians of all types in America.

Just noticed this now it's bumped up.
Just a thought...
But this isn't an issue specific to Black people. White peeps are divided against each other too. In fact people full stop are divided. Many English don't like the French and Germans, Welsh and Scottish don't like the English and hardly anyone like the Americans! (LOL) the reason I bring the white peeps into this is...
What I think this shows is that it is people are generally just divided against anyone they see as not being like them. I reckon some peeps feel they can't 'Belong' without hatin on someone else who 'aint like them'. With some peeps they view themselves as belonging only to their culture, with some it is anyone of the same colour, and with others it is simply as a member of the human race.
When peeps are different enuff to make a big distinction, then peeps reject them and then hate on then. If people start to realise we are all from one set of parents and looked for what we have in common and then also appreciate the differences and the good in other races and cultures, that's a step in the right direction.
Waiting for any human leader to unite everyone (or even everyone of one colour) is not going to happen. Check the last 6000 years and tell me if that's correct. That will take GOD. And for that, we are just going to have to be patient! (and In the mean time, lets all do our little bit...)

- I believe that some not "ALL" Somalis have that mentality that they are better than other blacks because they have never been enslaved.
- They also have a completely different culture, heritage back round etc. from other Africans.
- Somalis generally do not like mixing with other ethnic groups besides their own. There are some exceptions but the majority of interracial marriages with Somalis don't last. They usually go back to their own people
- Although they happen to be black that doesn't make them the same people as African Americans, South Africans, West Africans etc...
- Black is referred to as the pigment of ones skin. If this is so than some Indians and P*kistanis are blacks as well. If there is to be a generalization.
- I highly doubt that one day the Somalis will mix entirely into other races. This I believe will never happen ever.
- I would like to believe that Somali would not like to claim African American accomplishments as their own. BECAUSE THEY ARE TWO DISTINCT PEOPLE. I could never in a million years mistake a Somali for an African American or vis versa.
- It seems that most people on the this website confuse the colour of one's skin with the race that person belongs too. In Africa alone there are 6 ethnic groups ranging from Bantu to Hamitic. There is a group in Africa known as the Mongoloids they share similar traits to that of Mongolians in Asia.
- But what I am puzzled about is why Somalis try to act like Jamaicans and adapt to their lingo. Is it that when they come to a foreign country they try to assimilate themselves into the hip hop culture or what is it?
You can tell me in the eyes of the white man we're all the same. If you ask me that is crap.

Somalis are a mixture of Arab and African blood and are by no means a 'true' race. They are a hybrid people with hybrid customs. Purer-blooded Africans do not see these people as 'one of them' either. Somali language is a combination of Arabic and other indigenous African languages. The Saudi Arabians who mixed in by rape or by intermarriage are themselve a mixture of Turks, East Indians and 'Africans.' The mulattos in North Africa are a mixture of 'Africans, Romans, Greeks, Hyksos (Euro-Turks), Persians and Mongolians (mixed with Turkish blood). Too much mixture and too many hybrid people. This make for explosive situations in Africa.
As for the rest of Africa, blacks are their own worst enemies! Too much ignorance, and stupidity over so-called 'nationality' makes it easy for Arab and European scum to keep control and continue their abuse.... This is tired and smacks of a lack of sense and self-esteem.
