I am a long time viewer, first time writer to the forum.

My question is this: What are the residual psychological effects of slavery, colonialism and institutionalized racism on the African Diaspora? For example, is the disproportionate tendency of some blacks to administer corporal punishment a bi-product of being victimized by the whip for hundreds of years or just a common theme in African culture? Is the emotional state of depression more or less common within the Diaspora and can its roots be found in the oppression of our past or even present? These are just couple of examples.

What modern day social or cultural problems prevalent amongst the Diaspora would you attribute to the residual psychological effects of slavery, colonialism or institutionalized racism?
