Absent of any fresh input from new membership, the place is like a damp cellar full of cobwebs and little creatures that scurry about senselessly in the dark. The air is stagnant and has an aura of decay that is overpowering.
The occasional light from that shines in through the cracks in the walls ;-) sends the creatures into a furry panic and makes them shrink in horror.
They'll all rush to the barricades to block out that light quickly.
