Paris created a good thread the other day about reading. Look it up.
Exactly!
I just read Lady Vee saying "I will not excuse somebodys crimes because he's the same colour as me".
Nobody in this thread did that or came close to it. Nobody defending or excused him yet people are bawling and carrying on as if they did.
Lack of literacy. Or concentration. Reading what you THINK people said. Extremely annoying.
@ Backataya
Why do you feel the need to say "NO helpless and defenseless person (regardless of race, sex or creed) should be set on in this way by another, for ANY reason.
That is just plain sick and wrong however you slice and dice it!"
Who on earth argued anything to the contrary?
You people need to lookup a "strawman argument"
Not one person defended this. Nobody justified it. Nobody laughed or expressed pleasure or satisfaction of any sort.
Dm dont worry about it. People like Chi, Miss Nellia, and Le Moor are on here trying to twist peoples words to make them seem worse then what they actually were, only to suit their own purpose. Go ahead and let them make fools of themselves.

@Liberian
I've read and re-read your post and I still come to my same conclusion, but I have aired my disapproval as you did, we are going to have to accept that we disagree on this one, if my words seem like twisting what you have said then so be it, but I am not going to back down from them as you won't either, that's what make us indiviual and different, on another thread I may be in total agreement with your views on another topic, so "people like Chi, Miss Nellia and Le Moor" at least fight for their convictions and BTW, it wasn't us that made fools of ourselves.
I'm out on this one now have fun!!!

Some helpful reading
http://www.nizkor.org/features/fallacies/straw-man.html
http://www-personal.umich.edu/~lilyth/strawman.html
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Straw_man
As a rhetorical term, "straw man" describes a point of view that was created in order to be easily defeated in argument; the creator of a "straw man" argument does not accurately reflect the best arguments of his or her opponents, but instead sidesteps or mischaracterizes them so as to make the opposing view appear weak or ridiculous. An example of this is when person A says "I don't think children should run into the busy streets". Person B will say "I think that it would be foolish to lock up children all day with no fresh air". This insinuates that person A's argument is far more draconian than it is.
Will this help... I doubt it. It would require reading skills

Exactly my point. You have read and re read my post. Notice that you said post, not posts. And I understand that we can disagree on certain subject, but when I disagree with someone I atleast do it in a constructive manner without all the name calling and meladramatic bull. I wont say that "so and so said something" when it was not stated in their posts for everyone should know thats its foolish to try to prove that someone else implicated a certain thing, you not being in that person's head. So trying to say that I said " the woman deserved it" or that I condone the man's actions when it was not in my posts, or when I repeatedly stated that I did not, is beyond stupidity and calls to question a person's level of reading comprehension. So in that sense yes, you people did make a fools of yourself. And of course you can defend your convictions as others here are defending what they believe in.
So have a nice day.

@DM, The Peace and Mos Def
The foolishness is in implying i should now be desentisitized in seeing an old lady being beaten up. To the extent that i shouldnt react to a dibi dibi girls ridicule over the incident. To me thats more an accurate summary of the crux of this foolishness...
Im sorry that there were only 5 replies to another thread, but hey thats life as much as it pains me say it. Its not right and i agree with you wholly. But guess what....wrong place wrong time. Wrong place, wrong time and just incase you misheard wrong place wrong time.
You began this arguement on the back of this:
Its not like she has that long to go anyway.
Wrong place wrong time and furthermore whilst you're there telling me why havent we responded to other threads, equally i could point that finger back at you by asking why didnt any of you make a point of it yourselves. How come i never heard any of you commenting on PHs thread about there only being five replies. If my asbsense is wrong then surely yours must be too.
Your arguement shouldnt be used here. The minute you said that idiot had a point was the minute all of you failed in your judgements. And that my friends is the ONLY arguement im willing to entertain on this thread, as the arguement of whether there is enough love for black incidents is totally wrong when discussed on the back of support for dibbi dibbi.
Right after watching that video the issue should not be one of black awareness but one of humanness.

No, idiot, what Dm and Mos Def were implying is that if you are desensitized to seeing black on black crime, then you are certainly in no position to be condeming someone else for being desensitized to this white woman getting beat up. People in a glass house shouldnt throw stones.

You are a damn liar. You have just proved Dm right. Even Dm said that while he agreed with some of what I said, he did not in anyway condone that statement yet you still want to try to twist his words arounds. Give it up, its not working.

The reason why none of us made any comments about others behavior is because we don't go out of our way to try to judge others and what they do. No I dont thinks its unfair, just that it doesn't make sense(as usual) because:
A. if you possess involuntary emotions about certain types of crime, then who are you to condemn others for possessing, or in this case not possessing emotions about other types of crime? You have just stated in so many words that people cant help what they feel or dont feel, yet in the same breath you want to condemn someone for that very same thing?
B. And if you do happen to be desensitzed, which by the way in itself is extremely cold and inhumane, then who are you to critizize someone else's reactions to another incident, despite the fact of what that reaction may be?? Since when was it your judgement to decide which reaction is worse or better?? comprende???

Yet you want to call me dumb, idiot, and try to put sense into my head when you can barely read the words right in front of you, LOL thats funny. But yes, to answer your question I can still support Dm, because unlike you he looks past that one sentence deeper in the point I was trying to make.....doesnt mean he has to agree with everything I stated, but gets the gist of what I said and able to see eye to eye with me on that.... @DM, The Peace and Mos Def
The foolishness is in implying i should now be desentisitized in seeing an old lady being beaten up.
No one implied that, the gist of what we all were getting at is that some people react decidedly different to African/Black tragedy when compared to white tragedy, for whatever reason. Nothing more, nothing less.
Rather hypocritical, bruh.
I wouldn't have responded to either, because I'm rarely shocked at the callousness that takes place in inner city Detroit, DC or any other 'hood;' it happens everyday. It disgust me when I read and/or hear about it everyday. What truly shocked me and caused my response to this thread was the overwhelming sympathy for one victim and relative lack of regard for another, as evidenced by the response each thread received, respectively. But that should come as no surprise, I'm usually more interested in the ensuing conversation that takes place in a particular thread than the original topic of concern anyway.
In short, you're comparing apples to oranges. I didn't react to either crime; I reacted in this thread to others inaction in the other thread. Inaction wasn't a concern with this thread. The same stimulus wasn't present on that thread that caused me to respond to this one; so there was no incongruity in response on my part, that's where we differ/differed.
On the other hand, similar stimulus was present on both threads in the form of each threads initial post. The differences being one victim of crime being a young African/Black male being killed compared to a old white women being mugged, both on video. One would expect the reaction on a Pan-African site to be, at the very least, similar, if not totally reversed, but that wasn't the case for some reason? That's what caught my attention, not the crime. Remember the movie "Jungle Fever" and Samuel L. Jackson's and Halle Berry's characters'? That's how I expect crack addicted homeless people to behave.
There's always room for differing viewpoints.

Your reaction was not involuntary through environmental conditioning and was inhumane. It was very much a conscious, voluntary reaction. So you have no excuse. I can safetly tell you i would never stoop that low no matter what the envirnoiment, so i have every right to codemn you.

Your reaction was not involuntary through environmental conditioning and was inhumane. It was very much a conscious, voluntary reaction. So you have no excuse. I can safetly tell you i would never stoop that low no matter what the envirnoiment, so i have every right to codemn you.
Now you are really not making sense. Explain to me how my reaction of indifference was voluntary and concious whereas someone being desensitized, also another form of indifference, is involuntary???? Where exactly is the logic in that argument?
B. And if you do happen to be desensitzed, which by the way in itself is extremely cold and inhumane, then who are you to critizize someone else's reactions to another incident.
Correct, but im not, so why would i wish to agrue this point. However you are cold and inhumane so i do wish to argue this point.
I never said that you were. Read carefully, I said that if you do happen to be desensitized. I was posing a questions to you, not making any direct accusations. And i see you cut out my last sentence and choose to focus only on this one, a tactic that is getting rather stale. But thats ok, I'll post it again so you wont be able to side step out of this one:
Since when was it your judgement to decide which reaction is worse or better??
Regardless of your personal reactions or not, since when was it your judgement to decide which reaction was worse??? And since you want to talk about you, then fine lets talk about you. You can sit here all day condemning me for being cold and inhumane yet I dont recall ever seeing you on threads like the Duke Rape case, or other threads where blacks are being victimized and people are on there saying so and so deserved what they got. I didnt even say the woman deserved to get beaten yet here you are trying to judge me calling me evil etc, etc. In fact, I dont even recall seeing you once addressing Jay Jay for his comments making fun of the woman getting beat up. If ridiculing the woman is so horrible, then why havent you addressed Jay Jay for what he said? Or in fact, why didnt you first address me for what I said? No, only after I addressed you with the quotes from the Morehouse proffesor did you want to start on you whole tirade of how evil and degenerate I am. LOL, what a coincidence. If you're not the most phony and pretentious poster on here, then I dont know who is.
The fact DM agrees with you is no reason for me to as well. You're a clown and your both wrong on this issue so whats your point.
Oh the old "I am entitled to my own opinion". LOl, I was just waiting to see you pull this one. I was never trying to get you to agree with me, my goal was to see how you would respond to the quotes I made concerning the definition of racism, but I see theres no having an intelligent debate with you, as you continually attempt to change the subject.
Oh and just to let you know, just as you're respect for me is zero, my respect for you is even less. For I have no respect for conniving, phony, cowards such as yourself who want to put themselves on some moral pedestal all for the sake of attempting to win an argument.

LOL you summed up the crux of this whole foolishness right there. One sentance. No more needed.
Indirectly Mos Def yes you did, but you need to add the following sentence in order to not take my words out of content To the extent that i shouldnt react to a dibi dibi girls ridicule over the incident.
You see yall stated that she had a point and why do we react to her and not other issues. This came as a direct result of us being offended by her comments. So thats where the implication arises.
Rather hypocritical, bruh.
You would have to point out the hypocracy, more than just with highlights, as i dont see it honestly.
You began this arguement on the back of this:
Its not like she has that long to go anyway.
