are so arrogant sometimes when it comes to talking about other parts of the black diaspora - why is this? You see your country the best?
If you don't know something then ASK don't ASSUME.
An African American poster on BNV said that Jamaicans don't know where they come from? What is that?
AA girl thinks that Jamaicans don't come from other parts of the world and finds it 'interesting' when they claim some Asian origin.
Stop generalising.
If you wanna carry on following the stereotype then click google or yahoo or even read some racist books.
If you wanna know from a personal or more accurate perspective about Jamaica then ask me or other Jamaicans...
Bloody hell...lol.

I think the same could be said of Black people in many countries.
As far as Jamaicans and the "asian" bit...I'm getting really tired of hearing that. Go to India and see how "Asian" you are. They hate your guts as soon as they see your Black skin.

I can say the same thing to you as most think that because a lot of us do not know a lot about the rest of the Diaspora or Africa we are arrogant when the reason may be that we are so busy fighting our own battle we have no time to stop and see what is going on else where in the world.......
Or the fact because BET and rap videos are on television around the world or people went to college in the US, have a lot of people thinking that they have PhD's in African American life styles throughout the country LOL Which is really one that makes me laugh just thinking about it now as someone cuts on Fox to add to their expertise LOL
For some of us you have to forgive the generalizations because to many here Jamaica is a vacation island period with white sand and white beaches. Only when you know real Jamaicans and visit the country do you see what is really going on. When I originally came here, I thought that all the AA people in the UK acted like Jeffrey on Fresh Prince Of Bel Air because they NEVER show anyone who is not "English Proper" here. I was surprised as hell to find angry Africans on here who felt generally the same way we as we do here.

*This whole post is a generalization... In response, not all African Americans think this way so erm yea really aint much else to say. Cheers! Oh, and I've dated a jamaican, and still don't understand EVERYTHING about their culture because even within the culture, there are other aspects that only experience will help you to understand. Jamaicans living in New York, or Cananda I imagine would be different , or grow up different than those from the actual country.

Er...did you read the thread's title? SOME of you Americans...so how am i generalising? Obviously I have enough sense to know that not ALL Americans act this way. If it don't apply to you then don't get upset. I was just wondering why.

It just the same dumb arrogant and cockness they have.
Am guessing the Fat Juicy Fried Chicken the Africa American eat is rubb with Arrogant-Cream.

As someone who is predominantly Jamaican in culture, raised in a predominantly African-american community and now lives in the UK... I can honestly say that there is PLENTY of arrogance to be had all across the diaspora. No one has a lock on it. Not a day goes by when we don't have to correct assumptions all around us.
Now, can we move on to more productive dialogue?

| Well, alot of us AA's are arrogant even though we are the most far removed from having knowledge of self and alot of Jamaicans, other west Indians and African americans included don't know there true history due to slavery so that part is a generalization but has some truth in it.

Sir2Fine and how would you know that? You make a statement as if you are sitting at the top of all Africaness when really you just made comments close to what Fuzzy Zoeller said when Tiger won a Golf tournament.......

I don't know about that many of us are arrogant but not in a white supremacist way. No more than Continental Africans when you call them African, they look you up and down and proudly tell you where they are from......Ever had a Haitian do that after you called one of them black? Same pride. So should we not have some pride as well instead of walking around meekly in this country?
THe majority of us do not even take pride in America, just the pride of "being black" or African American

This guy called Sir_2Fine does not answer questions. As someone previously noticed, he comes around and makes provoking and outragious statements and when he is called on it, he disappears like a blood sucking ghost. You will not see him again until another controversial topic comes up then he will drop his bomb. Don't be fooled into thinking that he is African (Continental). I have my suspicions already.

| You ain't seen nothing yet,when i was living in Atlanta some years back, an african american woman, thought i was a mexican for crying out loud and when i responded to her by saying " do i look mexican to you? she wanted to start a fight. Alot of so called African americans think that theres nothing else that exists outside the united states.

AA women do not like to feel as if someone is getting an attitude with them especially in the south. Suprised she did not pull out some grease and throw her hair back in a pony tail. LOL
No arrogance there, just a misunderstanding being that the south not near the ocean like ATL usually gets more Mexican or oriental immigrants than anything else. LOL
