A friend of mine is thinking about buying a gun....
We've known each other for ages and used to hang around doing the usual. Getting into stupid fights, being drunk, generally being kids on the street with nothing else to do but get into trouble. It was never anything serious, we'd avoid that, never sold drugs or anything so we're the two out of the crew who don't have criminal records.. might have a parking ticket or something minor... Rumors a plenty, people say this happened, jazzing up stories but its all misunderstanding as the both of us had problems at home (story of most) as kids and so hung around on the streets as we had no where else to go and no one to look up to. His sister passed away with an illness he blames himself cause of the situation, drinks a lot. Drink = trouble blah blah.
I'm doing my thing and am keeping out of trouble but I'm guessing that he hung around for that bit longer (hes 21 now). Hes doing alright and rather than sell drugs to do his thing hes working with his brother whos setting up a business in the local area. Pulling out of a crew can be dangerous, I hope theres some bros on here who can relate, stop hanging around and its like a mans prone... gone soft now, not down anymore. It'd be cool if it wasn't for some new prick whos around, moved in from Turkey some while back. We all greeted him but as my friend is kinda popular for being the good bad guy, the type who'd be with the bad ones one second and chill with the ''no bodies' the next they never got along cause the dude is jealous of him more than anyone,
''hes a p***y innit!''
Etc etc...
Trying to gain respect with our friends in our area, annoyed cause my bredwin knows more people than he'll ever know while hes here in England. It all came at the wrong time (from his mouth) cause my bredwin is trying to stop all that at the same time this new guy is starting up. Otherwise everyone would cuss the new guy but hes kinda pulling away its being allowed. They smoke so much *ish they even thought he was a policeman at one point... its that pathetic.
Jealously
When someone has something that another person thinks they can't have.
People are turning their back hearing that his bro is (planning on) getting money legally, that Biggie smalls tune the Ten Crack commandments is right, ''Never sell crack where you rest at''... thing is it applies to just about anything when your friends can't see a way out and a next man can but can't share... the new guy is turning to the Turkish mafia to get his money and respect guessing some people in the UK know about the so called, ''Battle of Green Lanes'' (a google search should come up with something) now guess where his bros record shop is that bit too close to?.... the area was NOTHING when he started planning it, really, no one would even hang about but as time has gone on more shops have come to the area, theres a new pub, maccie ds and trouble is gonna be looking to move in.
Now he's gonna be working in his bros shop which puts him in the center of attention when hes' trying to get away from things. Thats the fear. Even I'm noticing the air has changed, the sterotypical black people + music = drugs + guns when they're not like that and most people know it, its all s*it stirring from a jealous stand point and it might get serious so hes looking to buy a gun. (small machine gun if possible, hes on his own on this one.)
What are they supposed to do?
They don't want any fame, they wanna be legal, now the so called ghetto is moving up bringing all the sh*t with it and they're talking about having to buy guns, bullet proof vests!? When thats the opposite of that they want?... As said everything would be alright if it weren't for the whole mafia thing, I think the new guy is hyping them (bredwin and his brother) up as dealers just to kick it up so he can be some bad man in the area, pit himself against Mr Popular trying to take his place.... it could even start a war cause bwoy, mans well known for being a good man, hangs around but they're known around the place for being good, grew up misunderstood put into a hole with rumors and crap versions of events but if things get nasty bullets are gonna be let off and nuff people are gonna be sticking up for this and that man. They know that (sh*t stirrers) but from what I'm thinking, certain people might want it that way and even egg on the Turkish guy just to see it go down.
What should they do? The police can't do much excpet pass by when the shops open, the Turks might even hire a black bredda to do it to avoid the beef with everyone else, make it a black on black thing.
Its classic people saying, ''He thinks hes bad innit!?''
And then chatting about bringing swords to their shop, should we do this? Should we do that? etc... Check the contradiction... 'He thinks hes bad - so I'm going to fight him'... Well, they're gonna have to show how bad they can get to defend themselves cause that situation isn't a good one. Thats a brick wall situaton.
This is real and F'in scary, I'm looking to move out or something, allow having to stick up for either side...
What would you do? What advice would you give?
P.s; Please don't delete this thread mods, this is an example of a situation that people face out there. My thread about gangster but revolutionary was kinda me looking at this situation from a diffrent angle. They're starting a shop doing good for the community with that whole, 'don't follow my road' thing going on with the youth but a whole heap of s*it is involved due to sterotypes and egos, wanna be gangsters bringing trouble to otherwise good people who have to have that grit in them to survive and get away from it all. Just wanna air it to see what others think.
I hope and pray nothing happens.
Peace
Sphinxy

does this young man have support in his community (strong, positive) from family friends etc? people who can outwardly boost him up for bieng 'legal'
jealousy is one of those feelings that seep deep.it doesnt just affect men mind you, i have experienced it personally as a black woman from white people, simply for living a simple 'legal' life, not bothering anyone!!!
the person may not necessarily resort to using a gun. they may be sneaky about things
OR
they may see your friend doing WELL, without resorting to illegal means and want to do the same! (chances seem slim but there is a chance)

Either he move out and find new friends, or stand about do nothing and risk getting brought in anyway, or join in consciously and set on people before they set on him.
He doesn't sound like he wants to be brought in, and I wouldn't exactly tell somebody too anyway so I'm saying move out and move on. leave all that behind. What's it doing for you?

HES CHOSEN TO HAVE A JOB IN THE 'THICK OF THINGS' THAT TELLS ME HIS STREGNTH TO TUFF IT OUT IN THE FACE OF ADVERSITY.
A YOUNG MAN DOING LEGAL TINGS IN AN AREA WHERE THAT IS NOT THE DONE TING TO BE SEEN AS LEGAL.
YES GO AHEAD AND FIND NEW FREINDS GOOD!
HES A YOUNG MAN AND HE MAY WANT TO IMPROVE HIS SOCIAL CIRCLE
BUT HE HAS EXPERIENCED A HUGE LOSS (SISTER) AND TO TOTALY DISSAPEAR OFF THE SCENE WHERE HE HASNT GREIVED FULLY MAY BE COUNTER PRODUCTIVE. I WONEDRED ON THE SUPPORT OF THOSE VERY CLOSE TO HIM, COULD HE LEAN ON THEM. NO MAN IS A ISLAND WE ALL NEED A 'ROCK'
THE WRITER HAD ASKED US TO SEE THINGS FROM THE YOUNG MANS PERSPECTIVE WHICH IS HARD FOR ME TO DO AS I AM A WOMAN, BUT WHEN I WAS YOUNG, I THOUGHT I KNEW IT ALL I COULD HANDLE ALL, THAT IS A PART OF GROWING UP!!!
BUT THERE WERE PEOPLE I COULD LEAN ON IN TIMES OF NEED.
ITS SIMPLY A SUGGESTION
THE WRITER TELLS US HOW HARD THINGS ARE FOR HIM
YES HE CAN SIMPLY WALK AWAY FROM IT ALL TRUE! BUT.... I WILL LEAVE YOU TO THINK ABOUT IT!!!

Or inability to cope with the big change of moving and unwilling to accept that's what needs to be done.

No point if you're going home to the same old. Because you forget the road it don't forget you, especially if you're parading up and down everyday. You not only need to move out but lock everybody off. Otherwise people will be knocking on your door with road problems bringing you back in.

Walking away is the hardest bit but that's why it's the only thing to do. Anything else is a half arsed measure. And stop with that bloody banana!

Leave, lest you be dragged in and end up on the front cover of the Evening Standard, dead with your family in mourning and the black community further disgraced. Be a friend, tell him its not worth arming himself, the badmen will just trade up to bigger arms and they will certainly gun him when they hear he has purchased a shooter . Tell him how you feel, advise him to set up shop in a new area even, but if his ears are too hard, you must walk away from him.

I AGREE WITH THIS PERSON
YOU CAN LEAD A HORSE TO WATER BUT YOU CANNOT FORCE THE HORSE TO DRINK IT OR JUMP OVER IT !!!!!
THE YOUNG MAN CAN HAVE ALL THE INFO PUMPED INTO HIM BUT HE HAS THE CHOICE TO ACT ON THE INFORMATION....OR NOT AS THE CASE MAY BE.
PEACE TO HIM ANYWAY, IT IS HARD TO BE YOUNG NOWADAYS.
TO TRY AND BE AND INDIVIDUAL AMOUNGST PEOPLE WHO HAVE GANG MENTALITY IS A DIFFICULT BREAK TO MAKE... I FEEL FOR HIM
I WISH HIM WELL!!!
I HOPE HE MAKES INFORMED CHOICES IN HIS LIFE
