I was wondering if anyone can recommend a city to visit, just for a weekend, for a romantic getaway for my boyfriend and I?
I think somewhere in Europe would be best as its only for the weekend. But I am open to suggestions?
Where have you been on romantic weekend breaks and can you recommend a bueatiful hotel or place to visit?

My friend and her partner recently went to Rome for a weekend and they said it was amazing. Deffinatly the type of place you should visit with a partner. I'm not sure what hotel they stayed at tho.

Trieste Italy. I think it was my best vocation to any European city. The beaches aren't the best, but they are ok. The best thing was, your minutes away from Venice, Verona, and other historic Roman towns of the past.........
As Soulstarr said, Rome is very good, even though it has too many people, and consider it to be less romantic in all Italian cities.........and very expensive......

We were thinking about Rome as a possibilty. I have been there before and loved it, I loved the history and culture and so I think he would love it too! Also thinking about Rejkjavik, has anyone been?

Brussels was a real eye-opener, Its not that romantic but its a good weekend break. I didn't know before I went that at least 50% of the population is Arab and also that because its basically the capital of the EU, the hotels are very cheap at weekends because that's when all the politicians vacate the city. We got the Eurostar and paid what I thought was a very inexpensive rate for a 5* hotel but then we automatically got upgraded to an executive room because it was very underbooked as it usually is at the weekend. I know it sounds silly but I remember going in to the bathroom and the lights would just come on automatically because they had sensors and me and my man kept jumping in and out of the bathroom to see if we could catch the light out! (we were drunk which wasn't so hard to to seeing as they have the best beer I have ever tasted and I'm not even a beer person!). Anyway, the best thing is is that in the summer its even cheaper because all the politicians are on the summer holidays. Fantastic! The food was ace too, I ate mussels until I was almost sick! Everyone speaks English because its the primary language of the EU.
I am going to Bruge next because I have been told by some people we spoke to in Brussels that its beautiful and you can also get the Eurostar there.

Its just so hard to pick becuase there are so many amazing cities in europe (anywhere else is too far for the wkend!) to visit and getting the eurostar would be good because it is so quick.Hum...........! Yes I got it from Waterloo. Its perfect because you can just go straight there after work, be on a 7pm train and be in the dead centre of different country by 9pm!

That would be v useful as my man will be working in the city so it would be v easy just to meet him after work and then head to the train. Sounds much less stressful than flying!
