Basically Im finding myself in a position now as I grow older in a lot of contact with white people. It seems the higher I go up (as in education) and my volunteer work there seems to be less chances of me meeting a new boyfriend if I wanted him to be Black... I meet White guys at work, college and groups Im in and I have opportunities to get to know them like that but I dont because I worry about what people will think.

My Dad told me a while ago that he wanted me to be educated and succesful but "not one of those succesful Black women who get married to a White Man". I think of my Dad as someone with his head screwed on most of the time but surely this is racist.

I have friends who screw up their faces if I mention I fancy a white guy "I could never go out with one" vibe "theyre not nice". At the same time we are asking white people to see us as attractive and smart, when someone says that they dont understand how a black woman can be pretty its offensive to me but the other way round its ok?

One of my friends at school went out with a few black guys and her friends took her aside oneday and asked her "Whats with all the black guys, are you a n***erlover now?". But when a black or mixed race girls goes out with white boys its like "shes on a white flex" and "Aww she likes her white man...". Its never said in a nice way. How can people expect white people to stop racist attitudes when we have them too?

Since you seem to be sincerely looking for advice, I'll give you my opinion before this thread gets locked.

Okay, you shouldn't be basing any potential relaitonship on how many white or black people you come in contact with on a daily basis.  If we all did that, there wouldn't be any black couples in the West.  Think of things this way, white, asian, arab, etc peoples go out of their way to date members of their own race so why is it racist if you do the same?  If a white woman can choose to date a white man despite how many black, asian, etc men she comes in contact with then why can't you make the same choice?

If you do find a white man that you're very attracted to and want to be with, then that is your choice, knock yourself out.  But don't rule out black men based on something as trivial as their proximity to you.  There're more important things to consider when trying to build a relationship with someone and I'm sorry to tell you but in this race obssessed soceity, race is one of those things.
