First of all you cannot say that whites in this generation inspired you to be obsessed with it...because in this generation they do not hull you in chains against you will your ancestors did and if they were alive today they would ask "So how is worrying about looks helping out the black communities?"
You have no right to say white racism encouraged all of it...the KKK says they're oppressed, Hitler said he was oppressed by the Jews.
For all of you people offended with interracial relationships but don't really care if a black woman is dating a white woman it's a f**ken coincidence that the majority of these woman have extremely dark skin but are still attractive with their arms around a white, hispanic, middle eastern, or asian male...that's right the black community's jealous rage prompted that original dimepiece to cease existenance and that explains why the illusion of black isn't beautiful.

our people may be obsessed because your people promote white women all over the place. TV, adverts, Billboards, Hollywood.
You have to promote your women because your afraid of white genetic annhilation.
also im not enraged by your people dating my women, if we hated you, would it be justified?
The sooner your empire comes crashing down, the better. and it will.

Largo,
I once looked that the Oprah Winfrey show. One of the things that she said that I found interesting when she was taling about model, Alek Wek that if her perspective would be totally differenr should she have been brought up to a society where people thought that she ( Alek) was attractive and she's absolutely is correct. There are billion of people in this world who comes is all colors, shapes and sizes. There are people who are also complimenting these people , even with there so called " imperfections", but what predominates TV, magazines and everything, somebody who doesn't look like her.
Black people are no more obsessesed with any other race when it comes for beauty, the only difference(s) is that we've been taught that having our features were wrong and non-attractive. I look at people like Julia Roberts and will compare her to Tocarra( if you have followed americans Top Model, she that full-figured woman who lost to Eva Pigfort). Far as Julia, I have never understood why has this woman been called a " pretty woman" My god! she isn't beautiful whatsoever. She has no jawline ,her mouth is too long for her face and her skin is a little rough,then there is Tocarra. She has pretty skin pretty features etc she's far better looking than Julia , but if you put the two together, everybody is going to say that Julia looks" good" because she 2 things that Tocarra isn't she's White and small. Tocarra is African-American and full figured.
I have often wondered what the world would have been like if people like Alek Wek would predominate and every man in the world would be after her because we would have taught her that her features was all of that. Instead for many generations our views have been highly distorted and we have been taught a lot of crap about ourselves. If the White man didn't do it then ask yourself these questions: 1) What women/people did White slave owners cherish? Whhat were the darker slaves taught about their features 3) In the past, what was the predominate reason that Black women used bleaching creams 4)Who were given more privileges do acquire things . We may have black on Black problems such as those for nothing, it came from somewhere and it certainly didn't orginate from an African man.
I'm African-American and love everything that is African-American from my hair to my toes. It's what god thought was beautiful and what I think is beautiful. I do not desire to be anything else but the African-American me. Even if I wanted to be another person, I would prefer to be another person of color. I like colors and diversity is a beautiful thing to cherish. It would be a mighty beautiful world if we only settled for one style of beauty. As a child I grew up in a White to mixed neighborhood and as a child the 70's, I wasn't exposed to beautiful Black( or any woman of any race) women. Little Black girls had to depend on Farrah Fawcett as their defintion. Honestly, I didn't think that Farrah was the most beautiful White woman( I actually thought that by the time she was going to get old she was going to be dried up with wrinkles), I thought that Jacquelyn Smith was a pretty woman. But the person that came closest to me was a darker skinned Asian woman( Cambodian) with her very dark skinned biracial( Black/Asian )children. Though the were mixed, they were very dark( as society tells that all mixed chidlren are supposed to be fair skinned and pretty). I tell you that those were some of the most prettiest children that I've evet seen! they could have been models because their looks stood out. They were also very unique-looking. Ironically, that is also the time where I learned that Black was really , really beautiful !I don't know about you but I would want my kids to see beauty in everyone, no matter if they are Black , White, Skinny or fat, light skinned or dark skinned. I would like for them to see the truth about life.
