Maybe it's just me, but I'm not offended at all. I don't buy the magazine, nor am I heavy into mainstream model industry and culture. I'd rather black women not get all the attention from mainstream media anyway. Look at the kind of lifestyle and issues they have to deal with once they become heavily visible like that. Somethings are a blessing in disguise. I say anyone who doesn't like it create a better publication. They could start on the local level. Matter of fact there already are true yet smaller scale African centered publications and media, but they dont' have the promotion, once again their low key popularity is okay with me.
We get too caught up in labels sometimes. Labels have deeper meanings and many times we don't look deeper. Just because it says black doesn't mean anything. Black could = we're financially supported by the "man". Just like the NAACP was started by the Jews. Look deeper than the label, same as everything that says Christian, Muslim, Jew, Buddist, Traditional, doesnt' exactly carry the interest of the lay person who follows those categories.

Black men voted a white girl number one in a black beauty contest in America. Ive always thought of our cousins as a homogenous lot who love their women..mainly because most black areas are 95% African... maybe thats changing.. but Im not having none of it/ especially in the states..
The message these so called black magazines are putting out is obvious. Do black people own these publications or is it another BET stunt. But the women are just as bad because its pure white magazine and white celibrity bollocks you see plenty of them engrossed in day to day on road..am I to belive that the black women on the train reading about some hollywood's star wedding/ also has books at home which she reads in private which put black people first and foremost. Maybe Im too cynical.
On a separate note you if you think black man love white women in London go to Barcelona where 98.7% brothers have a Spanish or French women on their arm. For a black man to be walking with a black women in Barcelona you might as well wear a spiderman suit as for the looks you will get. And all black women have white men there..
Imagine there are some parts of Europe where if you walk with a black woman you are seen as a strange specimen that has to be studied by the general public.

I know most sisters who are with a non-black man, felt like they had no choice, and I feel sad for them that they had to lower their standards and settle for anything(plus waking up in the morning with the smell of bacon!). Black men and women should understand that we're a gift to one another, and that we should treat each other with absolute reverence and respect.

Yes it is possible. I am one of those women who may on occasion be reading a trashy magazine on the train. Why? Because I cant read anything serious when in a moving vehicle (car/train/bus)I find it hard to concentrate and take everything in-so dont see the point reading it.
Though of course that doesn't apply to everyone

I don't believe this....... no way people!! Some asked, 'who owns this mag?' I agree with her. I think this is a 'war' against us, a mental war - against our emotions, against our self-esteem, against our essence!! Most of the men on this thread are completely disgusted by this, so how can we believe that black men voted for that white woman to win? I know that there are some warped individuals who would vote for her and who would agree with that result but I believe that the majority of black men are not like this!!!
If they succeed in destroying the inert bond between black women & men, they will be half-way to their goal of destroying us! We are lucky to be able to discuss these issues with like-minded people but I feel for the young, impressionable people who are being adversely affected by this 'war' and don't have the support or imformation to help them through this......
Its so SAD, it makes me feel a whole range of emotions (do not wish to disclose) simultaneously!!

can't believe it...esp. in 2006!!! I know it has been said but if she was preety...
I have always said this and will I continue to say this americans esp. black americans (sorry to all you intelligent ones) are thick, maybe a generalisation but i think this proves it further...
you know the whole latina madness is going out of control. i don't undertsand AA because if you have white/off white or brown mixed race type skin you are a latina...when that is not the case latin is a culture not a race!!! Go to cuba and you will see or santo domingo...to me the girl who won is a WHITE latina, nothing else nothing more...there are some latin people who are so white I would'nt even know they were domincan or whatever until they spoke spanish to me... This is a growing problem in america, esp. in places like new jersy, NYC, florida, boston and baltimore.
When will thick american people learn that latino is not a word, and latina/latin is not a race it is culture, the whole of the caribbean and south/central america is compressed of different races and nationalities. Yes there is white people yes there is black, chinesse, mixed race, indian, native indian, cherokee, arabs, u name it the region has it...so for the people to say she is a latina is a cop out...she is white!!! Why can't these people see this  just becasue she comes from a spanish speaking country in the caribbean pensula she automaticaly becomes a figure of blackness, they must of thought well, she is 'latin' so she must have a drop of black in her somewhere along the line!!! and makes her black!!! In her defence this maybe true becasue it's not like it is not unusual to be white looking or black looking and not have a grand/great grand parent who is either black or white...but that is history she is WHITE...why don't all the black people in the caribbean who have some kind of white whatever history call ourseleves white???
Just becasue the caribbean/south/central america is associated with 'exotic people of all different shades and colours' It dosent mean that if someone who is clearly white can be called black.
does anybody know what country she comes from...would love to know??
what about all the beautiful brown and black latinas, am sorry but white latinas can't touch them...they are the ones who are hot believe me.

 GIRL you took the words straight out of my mouth when I see "latina" who look like her I would classify them as white. I always have and I will argue this point to anyone. In her country of origin she would call herself white and would be treated as such. whereas we all kno the darker you are the worst the treatment ie brazil cuba etc. Some people are shocked when they discover there are black people in Brazil, the fact of the matter is they dont want to promote that there is becsuse they feel it discourages tourism etc! the same with cuba. In america they treat Latinos as different because they are new immigrants etc. the same way eastern europenas are regarded in this country, as not completely white. Whereas they see themselves as white.
I used to work with a guy who was from Argentina and I asked him what does he refer to himself as, he said he is white, so I was like not latino and he said no and looked kind of confused! The deal for some blackmen is too completely deny a womans whiteness and try their hardest to exoticise her some how ie she has a big bum so she cant be fully white. So that they dont feel so coonish, the amount of times I have heard "I dont like white women" but they will go out with anything else non black and then say shes not white. Well she aint black either! Its a joke. Seeing those pictures really did not surpise me in the slightest. Everyday as a black woman you are bombared with images and messages that tell you, you are not beautiful, especially if you are darkskinned. You internalise it. A few years back a similar thing happened in the a black british publication where people had to send in their votes about who they thought was the sexiest BLACK celebrity. J-lo came first for the women. Maybe the men misread who they were suppose to be voting for.....

Uhh, is it really that bad over there? I seeing it as a past problem that continues to grow bigger but damn is it like that? The white girl on a magazine geared toward black men is crazy of course and just reflects some brothers confused state of mind. Thank goodness not all are like that or we would be doomed.
