We will never see a film clip on the internet of a women's poetry reading competition, its never going to happen. My man has broken it down for me and I accept that men and women are different. He told me straight that he came up to me because of how I looked, not because of how smart he thought I might be, although he has stayed as long as he has because I have a brain! The swimsuit comp looked to me like it was aimed at adults, it wasn't on BET or MTV being watched by impressionable kids like these rap videos so I really don't see the problem, its not that serious but as I said before if you see differntly that's your perogative.
I agree, we are all different and there is no offense in appreciating the outer package....we all do it, male or female.....its just that it seems that its the only way black women especially are openly celebrated (bar a few), maybe it not just black women, but its getting way too predictable. Maybe its time for a bit of balance.
There are classier ways of appreciating black women physically, although maybe not in a swimsuit contest. In itself there is nothing wrong with it I think, but even adult women need to know they are more than a big bum and hips....let alone the young ones, they may be raising the young ladies too remember.
Men will be men, whatever the colour, but what are women turning into.
Nothing wrong with having a swimsuit contest though.

Actually there are many, many men who are not like that, in the same way that they are many, many women who are not purely interested in what car you drive and the size of your bank balance (yeah we can all resort to stereotypes because it means we don't have to do much thinking).
Has it occurred to you that as long as if all you do is flash your body, all you get would be those who are interested in your body? So you never get to meet the ones who passed you by because they assumed there was nothing more to you than a body?
Food for thought.
Respect

Why is this now in the open forum if so many people find so objectionable???
Just dash it weh already.
If Blacknet has an ethos which it abides by, you do what you want, you dont have to ask questions regarding this.
