| I'm quite digusted by brothas dat only go for lighter girls. I don't mind so much that they date them but saying that those r the only type of gals you go is just wrong. Personally I prefer dating black man, but I don't deprive myself of dating other people just because they are of another race. I think ppl shoulld stop focusing so much on the race, but on the person. I'm fearful for our generation.

| im a black girl who is light skinned- talking alicia keys beyonce complexion. And i dont think that i get that much attention more than my lovely dark skinned friend. We live in kent, and its bare white ppl, so when we go ravin its mainly white boys, but there is gradually a growing number of black and mixed race mans were seeing out and about. Now wen we wos out 1 time, there wos this nice lookin black boy who wos lookin our direction. He came over and didnt pay much attention to me but started chattin 2 my friend i woshappy for her cos they got on good. Not always does a black boy chose a light skinned girl over a darker skinned girl. But i also do kno boys that prefer light skinned girls, indian, or white. Even tho im not a dark skinned honey myself, i do think that its shocking that man can think like dat. Down here in kent most of the black boys are with white girls, and i gotta admit sometimes i do screw. I remember once i got chattin 2 dis white boy, he said he loved black girls, the boy knew about perms, weaves, rice and peas, hair grease, i wos totally shocked. we kept in contact and i told my mum bout him and she couldnt wait 2 have him round for sunday dinner! lol There was also another white boy frm essex who prefered 2 date black girls, he showed me a picture of his ex girlfriend and she wos a dark skinned girl. This jus goes to show that there is much luv for the darker skinned honeys from other types of boys, who appreciate a black women.

People people people........I have been reading some of the comments here, some made me laugh  , some made me cringe !!!!!!!
WHY DO WE CONTINUE TO SEPARATE OURSELVES INTO DARK SKINNED AND LIGHT SKINNED BLACK PEOPLE!!!!!!! I am all to aware that this way of thinking was brought on us during slavery to cause further mental torture to ourselves. Why are we still thinking this way and destroying ourselves???
Can we please move on from this and treat all black brothers and sisters with the respect they deserve???? Praise those that have done well for themselves  , and where possible help those that need that helping hand.
From a black sista wishing we all just get along and accept each other regardless of our shade and educational background.

I mean no beef, Quiet.L , but that was the reality I was born into, so we can only tell it like it is. I saw the ways many acted, the ways many were treated...repeatedly and continuously...a pattern in itself... and let's be honest.. there are millions of black people in this world who have a certain approach/attitude towards certain things... and it would take much time to change them, in addition to that... their willingness to change...which from many people, you will never get... coz at the end of the day everybody wants to live their own lives and aren't about to take any 'sort' of 'correction' ( if u get me). I, personally, love my people, and would not seek to divide them in that sort fashion, of my own accord. I encourage 'realism' if anything. This 'division' was already done, before 'I arrived'. I'm not saying because so and so did it, it won't make a difference for me to do certain stuff, but I simply deduce my opinions from reality and realistically. With regards to the division of light/dark, 'when I arrived' ( on this planet and as I continue to live in society), I saw and still see, everyday, many dividing or separating themselves from others rather than a certain something being imposed on them. But many people can't see the truth, because the truth always has to get mixed up with stuff that's not true, specially when the accused do not want to accept the 'truths' said about them.
Like I said, personally... I encourage 'realism' and I totally understand where you're coming from, but unless millions of peoples attitudes change ,things will continue to be so.
Not to challenge what you said.. but that's my opinion and views confirmed.
In retrospect, it gets me thinking... so...To anyone, who may 'stumble' across this post (as they always 'seem to do' ) I do not take back a SINGLE WORD, of what I have said in this forum.
Couldn't have said it better Quiet.L, but me.. personally.. until things change and EVERYBODY makes an effort... I'm just gonna have ta deal with some - who want things to stay the same/ who make things hard - in a way which may not always promote the ultimate goal > our unity/solidarity.

You know, I think it’ sick and sad.
Why have I seen this thing over and over again ?
I said 'white approval' before because when people like Viola have a problem with black boys checking too much light skin/white chick (and I have a problem with it too) they seem to take on this competition stance where if they gain attention from white boy too it’s as if they’ve won one over on those black boys. It shows and is as if certain people are just fighting over white people power and status, like their still your masters; you being below them and all good things must come from them and everything measured by their standards.
Any compliments I get from a woman who isn’t black pertaining to my physicality/appearance I’m viewing with suspicsion becacause they probably want something. They can stick their compliment back down their throat where it came from.
And your Mama in it too ! Oh Lord ! That’s the end of you then I suppose in terms of being ‘black’. At a young age that white boy probably has a fetish for black girls (too much black music culture on TV and American-African media influence in general), AND YOUR MAMA IS GIVING THEM A PASSPORT INTO YOUR HOME BECAUSE THEY OPEN THEIR MOUTH ABOUT WEAVE AND PERM ! Lord, say it aint so. ***slaps forehead*** Are we going backward ?
Imagine, an ‘outsider’ opens his mouth about aspects pertaining to our identity and culture, suddenly some of you go all starry eyed, "Wow, a white person who knows about the thing of myself that I hate so much. Yes, that makes me feel all the better about myself and hate about myself because a white person likes/is attracted to those things.

I definately understand..the 'viewing with suspicion thing'. They, if anyone, are the ones to look out for and be wary of. Especially P*kis! That is a way of trying to gain your 'trust', never trust ANYONE who is trying to GAIN YOUR TRUST' by way of how much they know about blacks... THEY ARE USUALLY THE WORST ONES. WATCH DEM! OR BETTER YET.. KEEP A DISTANCE.. MY INSTINCTS HAVE NEVER! Failed me. Even 'they', who try and gain your trust will think you are foolish to have let them do so, because they certainly would have not, they know what it is 'to be black' more than you think ad from an even uglier perspective, because people do not 'hide their prejudices against blacks' around them, but rather, 'teach them' these prejudices. They see how 'blacks' are treated and hear how we are talked about. They would not want to be YOU for a day, honey, let alone ever 'trust' a non-black' if they were in your shoes for a day. yea i wos shocked at the fact that this boy knew about the perm, weave, and chicken rice and peas. But i didnt say nothing bout how i thought i had won over the black boys. Wots wiv puttin words in my mouth? I would have a black boy over a white one any day, thats my personal preference. Are you sayin that its not right that a black woman is shown appreciation from a different colour or ethnicity? Are you cussing those who like the appreciation shown from those other colours aswell? yea its my turn 2 put the words in your mouth. Im not saying all black boys prefer light skinned and white girls, but instead of cussing down the girls who recognise this and comment on it, you should be cussing down the black boys who will walk straight past a beautiful dark skinned girl, but not a white or asian or light skinned. but Of course as much as a person who isnt black reads up on black history , they will never be able to understand some of the struggles and prejudices black people go thru. Looking in the mirror and seeing my skin colour, my broad nose, my thick lips, seeing black people being recognised for their achievements. THAT KIND OF STUFFF MAKES ME FEEL GOOD. As a white girl with a british black boyfriend, i find it insulting for many of u to insinuate that he is with me simply because i'm easy. Do u think he asked me to marry him because i'm easy? No, he asked me because we're in love, not because i'm a 'skanky white girl' as some of u so eloquently phrased it.
As for white women being easy and black women respecting themselves, theres a half truth in both statements, the truth is that some WOMEN are easy and some WOMEN respect themselves. It has nothing to do with race or colour of skin. It has to do with how you have been raised, black, white, yellow, whatever.
And thats all that i have to say on the matter, you can say that 'skanky white girl' has took one of our good black men all you like, so long as i respect my partner and he respects me i'm happy. Neither of us could give a damn aslong as we're happy.

Dont get upset......if your guy asked you to marry him, you know it goes deeper than just physical, don't let people's generalisations bother you............sometimes people use it to make themselves feel better about a particular situation.
If I see a mixed couple, I dont go thinking about the reasons they are together..................the same way that if I see a black guy with a black girlfriend who has a big behind or chest, I dont go round thinking that he only wants her for sex.
In fact I just mind my own business..................If I was that much of a psychic heavyweight, I'd use it to win the lottery instead of trying to reduce people's relationships into shallow unions, just because a man's choice makes me feel overlooked.
Nowadays I think there are easy girls and guys in every race on earth.

However....I must say most men in general will never disrespect a woman who they think is beautiful.......................................no matter what race or shade they are, if you look like Naomi, trust me they will not disrespect you.
The best way to find out though, is to ask them directly................................
BTW showing interest in a woman of another race is not necessarily a direct disrespect of a beautiful black woman. Unless it's one of those guys who is inclined to discredit black women in his pursuit of a woman of another race.
