I don't think I'm appreciating African-American women any less just because I simply state my feelings on other kinds of black women. Why does it have to be a competition? I didn't come into this forum to cause contraversy, just to share my love for these particular Somalian beauties who have caught my eye. It's just an oppinion, I know many who agree but there might be those who do not. I love all my black African women, but I personally tend to sway more towards the Somalian beauties.

Not everybody from the same culture think the same, you can't say that all Somalians feel that way towards blacks or other Africans. My girlfriend is a beautiful Somalian women, and she obviously doesn't feel that she is better than other blacks as she is with me. According to her, her people are the way they are b/c they just simply want to preserve their culture, they don't like mixing with other people and the elders don't even like them mixing with whites or arabs, its just not blacks. They're ideas aren't as different as the Indians who kill their women, if they are with other cultures. In some ways I don't blame them in their minds its justified they just want to preserve their culture from outside influence. I've met many somalian people since my first girlfriend and I can't say I've met one that shares the views as the ones on somali net thats just a small group of people; and it seems that they're influence by their elders the ones in the west are very very different. I'm not justifying it it's extremely wrong, but I've seen blacks in America hate on blacks whats the difference HATE IS HATE.
tony: good looking out man, I'm feeling those links. The women are beautiful keep coming up with them. I suggest that the people who deny these Somalian beauties check these links out. Their beauty is undisputable. If you notice they're all different shades.

I just simply find Somalian women to be extremely and amazingly beautiful. They do have high forheads, but I don't think that takes away from their beauty, just like it doesn't take away from Tyra banks beauty. Anyways it seems to be an East African trait. I've known many ethopian women who have high forheads too. But their other features out shine that which is no problem for me. I love the overall package I love their faces, their high cheek bones, their features are amazing, the big eyes, the long narrow noses, the full lips and their long beautiful natural hair that ranges from loose curls to soft wavy Indian hair and its all natural. Also for the most part, the ones I've seen have had beautiful curvy bodies with full fattys, not even close to flat, or they are tall and slim.
I'm sorry I myself do not find West African women as attractive as the Somalian women its just a personal thing. I've seen many women from West Africa and they don't catch my eye the way the East African Somalian women do. Although I did see one beautiful West African women but she was mixed with White. Honestly, even the way you describe yourself doesn't fit the image of a West African women to me, but more so an East African somalian women. You are 100% correct the whole African continent is completely diverse and you see all types of women I don't dispute this, however, I do tend to sway much more towards the Somalian East African women. I did meet this women from Burundi, she was quite attractive, when I spoke to her though she said her peoples ancestors where Somalian. One more thing why is it more accepted to glorify the beauty of Ethiopians and not Somalians? I glorify the beauty of Somalians because I think they're the most beautiful, in all shades from the darkest of darks to the lightest of lights.

Your comments are very hateful, I think you're simply hating on these women and people. What makes them so undeserving? Explain it to me. You tell me what it is that I should find attractive since in your oppinion I shouldn't feel the way I do towards the Somalians; maybe I should feel the way I do towards the West Africans would you then feel better? What I want to know is have you had some horrible things happen to you at the hands of these people? You seem like a bigot, and very prejudice towards them as well as the Chinese from your mention of them. I've never heard any body speak about them in such a hateful way as you do. Everybody I know who are in contact with the somalian people accept them, for their beauty and everything else, including myself. If you find "big forheads unattractive and flat asses unattractive" and thats your main and only criteria for defining attractiveness then thats you, I won't tell you that it's wrong. However, obviously many people in the states, in Africa and abroad must find these Somalian women to be attractive as they fell in love with the most typical looking East African Somalian women Iman. People would approach her and state "you're so beautiful you must be mixed with white," she would comment back "NO I'm beautiful because I'm BLACK and I'm SOMALIAN, I have NO WHITE BLOOD in me." Now you say all somalians claim not to be black or look down on blacks or think they are superior, why would this Somalian glorify her black identity?

Thank you too those who did not criticize or demean the Somalian people out of spite, jealousy and hatred like Tyra did.
Adam I'm happy for you and thank you for your kind words and to the rest of the people who wrote equally kind, up lifting words. It seems like you've realized something I've always known. Ever since I was little, I considered the Somalian women I saw to be very beautiful, I still do and am in awe sometimes. But I am bias in a way because that is my culture, I'm sure everybody loves their cultures and considers themselves to be the best at some point or another. I also believe African women are the most beautiful women all around, due to their diversity and different faces.
I've noticed that many people on here are stuck in the mind set that ones colouring is what makes one beautiful. When they comment on black people the first think they remark upon is the colour of skin and then from there determine their beauty from that. F.Y.I if you didn't know East Africans and Somalians don't look so much at their colouring, they come in many skin tones, from ebony black, to a beautiful dark brown, to a cafe au lait, and even light but they remain Somalian, because of their features. I have black friends who when they see a light skined brother, they begin to get excited and praise his light skin; However, when they see a darker skined brother they show no appreciation for them, they even go as far as calling them ugly based on his dark skin alone. Somalis don't look at skin tones, its not at all a factor as it is to African-Americans. They look more at features. Somalis define beauty based on features as do many other people. Thats partly one of the reasons why Somalians don't define themselves as black, b/c back home they don't have to. They don't walk around having to prove they're black and they don't define themselves based on their skin colours. But when they come to the western world, they're hurled into a world where many people define themselves based only on their skin colour. Being that they are Africans with "caucasoid features" they're caught in the middle. So they revert to what they know, they call themselves Somalis and nothing else because that is what they are.
I myself am a Somalian women, who regardless of what people say believe my people to be some very beautiful people, as do others on this forum.

| I am black myself but even if i had drunk ten pints of cider i would never sleep with any one from West Africa as a woman. They are the most repulsive black race i have ever seen. I do prefer fellow blacks normally those mixed with Arabic blood. My mother is Southern Africa and a derivative of Arabic, White and Indian. To be honest this look is very attractive despite what shade a person is. And yes I prefer White men or blacks who look like my people my brothers all end up marrying White girls though their preferences are Arabic women.

It is more of a matter of not appreciating African American women, it's just not you but too many African American ignore or is critical of American sisters but will heap much praise on white, oriental, spanish and nonAmerican black women.

I didn't that your girlfriend in particular disliked nonSomalian blacks but from some of the Somalian sites and some of the experiences post here by other Africans about Somalians, it is pretty obvious that Somalians are prejudice and in favor of whites.

It seems what you like about the Somalian women, Like Ethiopians, is that though they are dark, they don't have the traditional African features. The caucasian like, Indian and Arab like features that you love about them doesn't come from their true African roots but from their arab mix. In essense you have found the what you precieve has is the best of all worlds with these women. First you got a woman with small caucasian features(something the white media has conditioned you to believe as the only real image of beauty). Second you have the exotic and third they come rapped in brown or black skin making it acceptable to worship her nonnegroid features because the true negroid features you have been convinced is unattractive.

Speak for yourself Tyra don't speak for all other Africans. I myself am a kenyan male, there are many Somalian people in Kenya and I am not one of those Africans who does not see their Beauty, infact many of the other non-somalin kenyans consider them to be very beautiful people. Although some are very dark it was very common for other non-somalian kenyans to call them "wazungos" or "mathongos" translated it means (white people) Before I left Kenya I dealt with many Somalian people and I considered them to be respectful and beautiful people especially thier women. Your right everybody from a particular group are not all good looking there will be some non good looking ppl but the majority I've seen and I've seen many were Beautiful, now I am in Canada and there are many beautiful Somalian women here as well as many beautiful African women in general. You state that West Africans see them as all the same and don't think they're beautiful, well I've seen many of my West African male friends chasing after these women constantly; however, of course when they are turned down it builds resentment in them and they begin to insult them. Anyways not all Africans think along the same lines as you do I wanted to make it very clear that I do not, and all the other African I know do not either. It seems to me that you just have had a personal issue with them, that is your problem to deal with but don't make such sweeping statements. I'm out.

I did not claim that you know nothing about East Africans. However, I do feel that I know a bit more being that I am. (By the way Mr. Banks what is your ethnicity?) And see them on a regular basis, (when I'm home at family occasions, weddings, picnics, basically day in and out.) It seems to me that you are ALL hung up on skin pigmentation, you keep stating that the Somalis are "darker" than most Ethopians, and due to that it makes them more "African." It's as if you're saying the darker you are the more African you are whilst the lighter you are the less African you are. If that were true than the North Africans (i.e Algerians, Tunisians, Morroccans, Egyptians) they all would not be AFRICANS now would they? Thats the problem I believe with most African-Americans they're still hung up on that whole lighter is better brown paper bag mentality. Or they gotta establish that lighter is better than darker.
Where as East Africans, don't give a damn about that and just consider themselves first African, than Somalian or Ethopian or Eritrean or Kenyan etc. You people are so stuck on labeling people lighter=better or darker=not so great. The light "less African Ethopian people" that you are so hung up on are mostly the Amharics, there are many other tribes within the country which are as dark as the Somalis, (the Oromos, the Tigriy people etc) Why don't you people praise them, nobody speaks of the Oromos why not? B/c you're hung up on the lighter Amhara people even though with the exception of skin colour they look the same! That country is so diverse into itself. However, ALL of the features are the same. Its the features that determine these Afro-Asiatic people not their Colouring. Other wise any light pigmented person could claim that they are Ethiopian, even if they did not have the features to back it up. Further more, if all Ethopians were much darker, keeping their features constant would that make them any less attractive to you?
When I see black people I just don't jump to the conclusion that they are Ethopian or Somalian b/c they might be dark or light. I look at the features and the ways they behave then I am able to tell. I have a friend that is half-Indian and half-Trinidadian, she is often mistaken for an East African mostly Somali and I even mistook her for one at one point b/c of her features not her skin colour, she is not a high yellow female or a cafe au lait pigmented sister but a beautiful dark brown, but its the features that I believed resembled that of a Somalian female.
I myself to be honest am not persuaded by skin pigmentation but rather features. I mean when I look at Halle Berry, Vanessa Williams, Beyonce, etc I do not say they are beautiful because they are lighter in their complexions, if they were four or six shades darker I would still consider them beautiful, b/c of their features. However, if they were lighter and did not have those features I might be less inclined to consider them as beautiful. Now that statement might cause controversy but take it how you may everybody's attracted to different things. I am attracted to features as is Adam most likely and many of the other male posters who have shared his oppinon about the Somalian women. Its what we find attractive in a person.
Tyra I feel as though something has happened between you and the Somalis and due to that you feel very hateful towards them, the bold font indicates this as does the tone of your writing and the remarks about them thinking they are better, than other blacks (i.e West Africans as this is what you are.) Further more, big forheads are not an unattractive thing, if they were Tyra Banks would not be considered beautiful today, by the way you use her name do you consider her beautiful? Further more why would you refer to the Somalian womens "asses" that comment did not seem appropriate coming from a female as that is what you are.

Why oh why is it that when someone speaks there mind do you imediately assume that the person has a grudge, or somebody did something bad to them. No Somalian has ever done anything to me, I just speak as I find just as you do.
The point I am trying to make is that in my opinion, Somalian women are no more attractive proportionately than any other race. The fact that you have just discovered them Adam, does not catapult them in to the worlds most beautiful women. What also has been echoed more than once on here is the fact that these women are seen by a lot of black men as the acceptable face of Africa, basically they fit all the criteria that people such as yourself want without being with a Caucasian.
Your choice is your choice, but be honest.
Mr Kenyan, how quick you are to take offence on behalf of the Somalian ladies, would they be as charitable towards you I wonder? Im sure if anything were said about AlekWek(model) who comes from your neck of the woods,you wouldnt jump to her defence would you?
Anyway whatever, you can all want who ever you like, it makes no difference to me, I beleive all us black women are beautiful some "individuals" more than others, rather than races and I will never accept that because someone resembles a black/brown European that they are more attractive than those of us of negroid descent.
Good luck with your preferences, mine is a strong black man or even a strong man from any other culture, he could be from Africa (any part), England, America or the Carribean, just as long as he is fine in my eyes and he loves me for the way I am and not because I am of a particular race, creed or religion.

WoooW @ all of this. Adam loool I don't think you knew what you were getting yourself into my man.
One thing that I've heard from mostly the African-American women on here is how unappreciated they feel, how unloved and yadda yadda yadda. They seem to dislike the idea or fact that somebody can praise other types of black women. I bet if it were them that were being praised they wouldn't have said a damned thing, instead they'd be loving every minute of it. And you wouldn't see any East African females on here b**ching and moaning about how they too should be praised for their looks or how other black women aren't as beautiful as them, or about light and dark African-American chicks and their differences, or picking at little things they find unattractive about African-American women.
Forget about all that bullsh*t you women are preaching in here, you treat us African-American males just the same or don't "appreciate us" as much. But instead of it being about ideal features, its about skin colour with you lot. I've seen how you African-American chicks treat these light skinned dudes like they're the sh*t, I've seen females basically drool over them. But what about us dark brothers I mean real dark brothers. We don't get the same love, instead we have to beg for ya'll to go out with us. Then when we try getting with you it's the whole "you aint my type" routine. I've been shot down so many times by African-American women even the darkies like me who have a "thing" for lighter skin. When I'm just as good looking as a darker black male. In America its the wholelighter skin issue, and I guess in other parts its all about features. Seems to me and this is just an oppinon that many African-Americans both dark and light have yet to learn how to love themselves. And so they're quick to jump when anything other than themselves is considered "beautiful" b/c in thier head its not "black enough."

Yes East African women are beautiful, no more beautiful than West, South, North or Central African Women, or for that matter all African, Caribbean, South American and African-American women.Unfortunately the same cannot be said for East African men.

Considering there was a time when there were only
black people walking the planet and concidering every part
of the caucasian races make up is borrowed from the womb of the original woman (be it straight narrow features or thin lips) I'd say we
need to take credit for
ALL our variations. Also once again Spice, as a woman who is in a relationship with a man other
than black would'nt you say you too were a little influenced in your attraction. A little too much Tarzan, James Bond,Gladiators, pirates of the caribbean iono. Bottom line is we are all influenced to some
degree but (as I say time and time again) when one knows
the full scope of who they once were they can once more
become that again and believe me your whole overstanding
of beauty changes when you realise the degrees some have
gone to to make Albinoism the norm.
After years of seeing this all become brainwashed but at
least the men still appreciate a sister, dark skinned at that(even if she dont completely know her own
beauty(blue contacts).
Either way I love all shades and shapes of women and
so do most of the brothers here remember its yall who
are bickering about who's black and not black, im sure if you ask most of the brothers they dont care slong as shes
black, its just a preference and we think with
a different head and two heads are better than one
(swhy we such hypocrites.)
Lighten up we dont really care that much about the
