@ the Administrator I will keep in mind what you have asked of me.
@ ethio, You are absoloutely correct I am entitled to my oppinion. As far as where my oppinions come from they come from personal experience. From things that have happened to me, and things I've gone through and are completely justified in my eyes, you are not entitled to agree I could care less.
Maybe my comments did appear to be harsh. However, many of the others who posted were very harsh and mean and hateful as well. Why don't you go and insult them and call there behaviour "pubescent." When I come across a forum that shows disregard for my culture, people who start lashing out and name calling. I retaliate for I will not sit back and allow people to demean my culture or my heritage. I am not naturally a hateful person, you might find this hard to believe, once again I state f**k CARES! about whether or not you believe me.
Yes some somalians are prejudice towards others once again f**k CARES! So are Arabs, so are BLACKS (especially to there own), So are whites, so are the Chinese, So are Ethiopians, and every other culture on the face of the planet. Why because they can be, because they're arrogant and deem themselves to be the best. This does not make it any less wrong however, there is not a damn thing anybody can do about this these are believes that have been rooted into peoples histories and ways that they are accustomed to.
whatever I'm so over talking about this. Just thought I'd put in my two cents since EVERYBODY else already did.

I'm sorry but I don't find any other postings on this thread to be 'very harsh and mean and hateful' I understand that you may have problems with certain people because of previous experiences. But are really 100% sure that these people were jamaicans. I know for a fact that alot of people presume that if you are not African then you are Jamaican - you said 'I WOULD NEVER WANT TO BE FROM YOUR COUNTRY. ' and you repeatedly said 'YOU' Since this is Blacknet used by all denominations of black people. I don't quite understand who you are talking to, are you to speaking of Jamaicans or the Carribbean as a whole. I really think you are making sweeping statements. I am sorry that your experiences have left you feeling nothing but negativity.
You asked the question 'WHAT ELSE HAVE YOU PEOPLE CONTRIBUTED TO' Your entry reaks of racism in the truest possible form. It is unfortunate that you are so ill-informed.
Incidentaly, I am not of Jamaican but of Carribbean parentage.

Hi. I feel your pain. i'm in the USA. My husband is Somali and I am African American. I must tell you that I have never been treated so poorly as I was treated by his family. When I would tell my family about the things his family would say and do to me, my parents thought I was talking about white people; because surely other black people wouldn't say and do those kind of things. His family doesn't even realize or care that they are humiliating, disrespecting and embarrassing their son and brother!!
There is work to be done on both sides. But, I must say, in my experience Somalis(especially the women) are some of the nastiest, clannish, unapproachable people I've ever encountered. I have friends from all over, but I am unclear as to how you deal with folks like that. The energy is so incredibly negative.

These comments are clearly written by children. I read an article in Somaliuk.com entitled 'Whos fault is it anyway that Somali children are failing? The main body of the article was this:
'Besides Somali family's often dysfunctional state of family affairs caused by the sudden shock of living in a different world and the frustratingly slow pace of most father's catch-up with his new responsibilities in the western world (I must say fathers bear more responsibility in here. Remember, to become a father is not hard, to be a father is) combined with the fact that for many Somalis, this past decade has been filled with having to endure the scorn of being in despair and displaced, but, still, the recognition of the unique needs of early Somali adolescents in the western world has never been more urgent then now!!
I think the Somalian community should concentrate on the mess that has developed in their own back yards rather than wasting energy critisizing and insulting others.

I Have no problems with somalians they are a black community in the UK to be admired if anything. I have noticed you seem to stick together and do not seem to be mixed up like the West Indians, you seem to have a strong community Bond which you do not see for example in the West Indian community. Its a pity some of the the other black communities in the UK have not followed your examples. And i am saying this is a young Jamaican parentage black women.

i am somali and i so agree with able about all her comments and she is telling what she feels and i give respect to her because what she said is a good representation of the somali views on this paticular topic. also alot somalis dont have problems adapting to the western culture so u better get your facts right also might i ask why you guys were on a somali website because the sight was create for somalis in the western world to talk to other somalis about topics that are happining in the community. ok peaceand to all you haters of somalis you guys can go to hell!!

for awhile i thought to ignore this post. but .....just read via the link and i am not all surprised but shocked at the hate and ignorance. no wonder people say black people cant unite. its mad.
Able sounds very young in the views she/he portrays. you see to fail to realise like many that whilst many carribbean people are mistaken as Jamaican many people mistake africans including somalians as coming from nigeria south africa or as arab slaves. this is based on teh fact that not many people realise there is more countries in these places etc. i have heard all teh negative stuff on Jamaicans all the time. its one thing to be hating but dont use the lingo thats just silly.
as for somaligurl oh please........this is called the world wide web so non somalian will dip their toes there. where i live there is a somali culture that mixes more with the asian muslim culture. they dont mix with black people of other cultures.
@apology.......i find it hard to believe that many jamaicans diss somalians as if you were to go to Jamaica or anywhere in the carribean you would see many locals who resemble yourselves so to speak.
any way that forum stinks and i am grateful for blacknet village.

I AM IN LOVE!!
Brothers I am in love with these beautiful East African-Somalian sisters. Ever since I came across this Somalian sister a few years back I've become insanely infatuated. I'm an African-American brother and was stuck in the ignorant mind set that Africans all looked like the ones in Amistad or were all starving. But I was lost and ignorant!
Don't get me wrong I think all my black queens are amazingly beautiful, But these Somalian Queens have something besides beauty. Oh they are beautiful my god! they are BEAUTIFUL, their hair, their sultry faces, their figures, their skin,their GRACE is undisputable. They're pulling at my heart strings, and I'm just in love with them. And now I've finally found my Somalian wifey and I couldn't be happier. I'm in love. Fellas congratulate me.  I'm in love!

This is sad and part of the problem between black men and women in the U.S.. Why can't you show as much admiration for our own African American women with all their diverse beauty as you do for the Somalian ladies. What about us beautiful African American Ladies below?

Infact most East Africans in general have a negative view of other blacks.
An Ethiopian resturant opened up in the downtown section of the city I stay in (the only one in the region). And since I never had Ethiopian food, me and a lady friend of mine decided to go down there the other night. The place was packed with white folks and we seemed to be the only blacks planning to eat there that night. After about 20 minutes of being ignored....the head waitor stood at the door of the lobby and REFUSED to allow us in saying that there isn't enough room for us.
We walked toward the exit puzzled and embarrased over how can a new resturant run out of room...and meanwhile crowds of tipsy giggling white folks were being escorted to their seats by Ethiopian waitors eager to serve.
What the..
I'm sorry, their's more to the story but since it's I'll just stop there.
Yeah man East African women are pretty beautiful but most of them seem to be too high maintanance when they come to America. Plus the men are almost as racist as the Arabs and Indians when it comes to their women dating black men.
Are you sure those women you have pictured up there are Somali?
They look more Ethiopian (Etoobian) to me.

Your right in some aspects some east africans can be cocky and some actually believe they are not black and because of that treat others wrongly. I'm sorry that happened to you, it sounds extremely rude. I hope it didn't ruin your feelings towards all other ethiopians or east africans.
Hi Mr. Banks, actually I don't think that there really is much of a difference between ethiopian and somalian women they all look alike. I myself am both somalian and ethiopian. The women above look very much like somalian women and ethiopian women b/c they look alike they come in all shades. However, their features are all the same, long narrow noses, high forheads, big eyes with a hint of a slant long hair etc, same general body shapes. In fact somalia was under the same empires as ethiopia such as The Aksum empire. And physically are considered the same. In fact they are both Hamitic-Cush*tie people. Their physionogomy is the same and they look the same.
Most Ethiopians and somalians pride themselves on being able to distinguish between one another, something most non East Africans are able to do. Most non-East africans see them and think they're the same. By the way, the majority of the time they confuse themselves for somalian or ethiopians, untill they start speaking their languages. Anyways I guess I'm saying yes the women up there are very much somalian. And very much East African.

Thanx sis.
Actually, being a Muslim I can usually tell most Ethiopians from Somalis by skin shade and body shape.
Somalis look more like other African because they have more of us mixed in with them.
While most Ethiopians and those from Eritria look more like their original Asiatic ancestors who migrated there thousands of years ago.
Kenyans are another mix.
Just like the Somalis generally have more African blood than the Ethiopians...the Kenyans have more African blood than both but still have some of the genetic traits of their Asiatic lineage.
My views and feelings about East Africans aren't tainted one bit because if I was angry at everyone who looked down on Africans and AfroAmericans I'd have to hate the entire world.

Skin shape is the only factor although both somalians and ethiopians come in various skin shapes that does not distinguish them. Ones skin shape is established based on the region in which they live. They are known for their "caucasoid features." These features are prevelant in both ethiopians and somalians, (some may say in somalians more so). Try to remember the first black Supermodel Iman (somalian) was said to be "a white women dipped in chocolate" by the popular black womens beauty magazine Essence I believe. It was an insult of course stripping her of her dignity and "blackness" (whatever that is). However, that is the lasting empression about somalians that she left. Their "Caucasoid" or "Asiatic" features.

Actually no you are wrong. Just ask the majoritie of West Africans if they consider Somalians to look more like them. I'm pretty sure the majority of them would deny that, trust me I've experienced that whole "your not black your somalian mentality." First and foremost, somalians have been classified as caucasoid by many Anthropoligists meaning non-negroid. Their features are said to be closer to those of the Arabs and Caucasians than to other Africans, mainly the long thin noses, the skeletel shape, the long wavy hair, the long necks and the body shape. At one point somalians were believed to have a Yemen-Arab ancestry they were said to be decendants of the arabs that passed through Africa, because they did not look like other Africans but more like the Arabs, They were known as dark arabs and at some point decendants of the prophet mohammed, who fled to Africa when his people turned against him. Also for your information, Somalians are known as Afro-Asiatics just like the Ethiopians and Eritreans are. All three are.
In fact Ethiopians are not all the same, there are many tribes in Ethiopia, you might even be shocked to see west african looking Ethiopians who are very much ethiopians, Ethiopians have many tribes that differ in looks. Where as the Somalians are a homogenous group of people meaning they are all the same, in looks, culture, language, and religion. Further more Somalians and Oromos are very similar in looks, cultures and religions. To go into detail even more, the somalians are said to have migrated from southern ethiopia into somalia, Not yemen. Although they are said to have 40% Arab/Caucasoid admixture in them. Somalians are very much Afro-Asiatic as are Ethiopians and Eritreans. In fact mogadishu the somalian capital is said to have come from the Axumite language.
Trust me on this Mr. Banks I'm a mixture of both of these beautiful cultures and have both Ethiopian and Somalian relatives, not to mention ethiopian and somalian parents. All these relatives of mine all look alike, I would invite you to one of our weddings you would barely be able to tell the difference, untill the languages are spoken.
Also from you writings I'm assuming you don't know that much about the somalian people or you don't know many somalian people.

Why is this sad? The man is just sharing his oppinion and his happiness. He doesn't state that he doesn't love African-American women. He just shares his love and appreciation for Somalian women, what's so wrong with that its not like he's talking about another race. African-American women and Somalian women are both the same race. You know whats sad, you stating that his happiness is sad and "the problem btw african-american women and men in the U.S," is what is sad to me.

sad pissed off emotional, broke and I thought,Im going to

I am Sudanese and can see where your coming from. Alot of my family- especially the elders don't accept themselves as being 'black' and wont associate themselves with people that come from the Caribebean for example as they think they are just drug dealers/ whores/ etc, basically everything they preach not to be like. My mother would always say that when I was young, she didnt want me hanging around with 'Jamaicans' as they were 'bad'. I couldnt understand how my mum could be so racist towards people of her own colour.
Having said that, the majority of Sudanese people are the kindest, caring most humble people you could ever meet.
btw- Hesaid, where is that Sudanese restaurant? I might give it ago myself!
