Girlfriend i hear you out, but DAMN
We are all african, and at the end of the day we shouldn't be putting one another down, yeah some folk from the west indies maybe wrong for puttin afrikans down but YOU don't make it any better by satarting to put them down your self!
My mum is Jamaican and my dad is Kemtic, Jamaican, Black British, But when folks see me they say DAMN girl you must be FULL Afrikan, You look like an Egyptian!! At first i didn't like that! But now i'm proud to be from the mother land, And even more so I'm a Black kemetic person thee orginal one dem.
But with age i started to mature and over realised that weather your jamaican or not us as Nubians all come from the mother land AFRIKA

I have love for all my people and always smile proudly/nod in respect when encounter them anywhere.
Strawberry, I have to agree with Empress Jazahrah on the point of the putting down others, as our ancestors have endured enormous wrong doing which shows in the state of these generations today. The fact is, that everything and anything in this day and age is taken as 'the big thing'. Theres always something that people crave for because they may find that its fashion and follow like lost sheep. Sadly this applies to us as afrikan people. People will always say and do things that others will not agree with but as long as your true to yourself and your people then those who matter will be the ones to make a difference. Thats how I feel.

Oh and by the way my parentage is Jamaican and my heritage of course is from Afrika. I myself have had it said by people that I dont look either but at the end of the day what is it they really know huh.

Everyone has their own field whether its uni local or national. some may not even go there but whos to say their workships is less important. Nahhhhh all walks of education both theory and practical is useful in this universe.  lets not continue this good topic down the same cussing issues as many others...................

Hey i am jamaican my self and do not beleive that there are no jamaicans at uni.
at some country in this world they must be even 1 at uni.
Anyway are asians allowed to say the word N****r. coz one of my friendz calls me that and i dont mind it as a joke coz i knew him since i waz liitle.
but in general are they coz they are not white and most of them can have skins that are dark tanned e.t.c.
please let me now
coz i wanted to find out.

WELL FIRSTLY I EXPERIENCE THE SAME THING BUT I EXPERIENCE IT MORE WITH AFRICAN PEOPLE, WEST INDIANS ARE NOT THE ONLY ONES THAT DO THIS!!!!
I AM HALF GRENADIAN AND HALF GABONESE (WEST AFRICA) AND I AM VERY LIGHT, AND I HAVE MET PLENTY OF AFRICAN PEOPLE THAT ALWAYS ASSUME I MUST BE A 'JAMMO' BECAUSE I AM LIGHT. WHEN I TELL THEM MY FATHER IS AFRICAN THEY ALWAYS SAY "OH SO YOU MUST GET YOUR COLOUR FROM YOUR MUM???" AND IT IS MY DAD WHO IS THE LIGHT ONE!!! AND THEY WILL ALSO COMMENT ON MY HAIR ETC.
MANY AFRICAN PEOPLE THEMSELVES ARE EXPECTING FELLOW AFRICANS TO BE DARKER SKINNED, HAVE CERTAIN FEATURES / SURNAMES / FORENAMES.
AND MANY OF THEM LOOK AT PEOPLE AND THEN ASSUME THAT THEY AREN'T FROM AFRICA AND THEN START CHATTING THEM IN THEIR LANGUAGE, AND MANY TIMES IN THE PERSONS FACE. MY BEST FRIEND IS NIGERIAN AND SO MANY TIMES FELLOW NIGERIANS ASSUME SHE IS WEST INDIAN AND START CHATTING HER IN HER FACE AND THEN SHE WILL JUST BUST OUT WITH HER IBO AND PUT THEM IN THEIR PLACE!!!!
WHY IS IT THAT ANYONE FROM WEST INDIES HAS TO BE FROM JAMAICA LIKE THERE IS NO OTHER ISLANDS IN THE WEST INDIES???? I HAVE ASKED CERTAIN ASSUMPTIOUS PEOPLE (IN MY CASES THEY WERE NIGERIAN) THAT SAME QUESTION AND THEIR RESPONSE IS "IT'S ALL THE SAME", BUT THEY WOULD NOT SEE IT LIKE THAT IF I CALLED THEM GHANIAN!!
SOME WEST INDIAN PEOPLE DO MENTION THEIR MIXES, SOME ARE CHATTING SH*T AND SOME ARE GENUINE, IT IS NOT ALWAYS TO HIGHLIGHT THEY HAVE OTHER CULTURES IN THEM. THERE ARE SOME PEOPLE WHOSE MOTHER WOULD BE FULL INDIAN AND THEY STILL HAVEN'T GOT MIXED HAIR ETC. ANYONE I HAVE EVER MET FROM AFRICA WHO IS MIXED HAS ALWAYS STATED THEY ARE MIXED, SO ONCE THEY ARE NOT LYING ABOUT IT, THAT'S WHAT THEY ARE.
AS SOMEONE ELSE SAID THEY MIGHT JUST MEAN YOU DON'T LOOK LIKE THEIR PERCEPTION OF WHAT AFRICANS LOOK LIKE. WE ARE ALL BLACK PEOPLE BUT 9 TIMES OUT OF 10 I COULD GUESS IF SOMEONE WAS WEST INDIAN OR AFRICAN BY LOOK.

What people like@ guest need to realise is that all though you may look typical African or from a 'typical African' Country, does not mean your lineage may not be of a mixed on ,even if you have two typically 'African' Parents you may come out with slightly different features.
I am a proud African and it does not bother me when I get the 'you look Jamaican' comments even though I am not, My parents are from Nigeria.
But after a while I noticed things in my family when I was younger and had to ask m parents ,I am dark skin(matter of opinion), but when my younger siblings were born I noticed they were extremly!!! light , having come from two standardly 'Brown' Black parents and both in comparison to me and my other sybling.
Anyway having also noticed my mother's surname was european and even my fathers was,I had to ask , I later found out my maternal Great Great Grand father was a Brazilian(Mulatto) of Mixed African and Portuguese as well as being an Indian (Tipo),also my mothers Paternal side had Sierra Leonne (Krio > creole former slaves from the West Indies, either Jamaica or Grenada) there
After checking my family tree ,I also noticed there was Scottish and English also along my Fahters side there ws Portugese NOW !!! you may all say this is a mouthful but its all there.
I am still African and proud but for any one who see's an African like myself or others who you may typically associate with being a West Indian for obvious reasons ,this just hihglights that the obvious had a starting point and things went on ther to ,also there was a period of colonial rule in Africa for roughly 100 to 150 years.
So anyone like me is or could have a run of non- African blood maybe once through and thats it unlike in the West Indies people were constantly mixed with, or were mixed and mixed with other mixed people;obviously in West Africa that did not happen say in a lineage to the same consistency or severity(no offence1!)
Most of my foriegn ancestors are from at least 100 years back and have now got darker without any interuption, for most west indians its could be the same case but in a 400 year period they could have at least maybe 5 generations of mixed or mixing while in my ccase or other Africans in West Africa its olny 1 or 2.

jamaicans? in University? LMAO!
Jamaicans prefer to take the scenic route to university. Instead of going the traditional route of seeing your education through from begining to end, they hold other things in high esteem i.e. becoming a baby mother/father and living on government handouts or immoral earnings, education is not high on their agenda.
The only jamaicans i ever came across in university were 45+ mature students who wished they had their priorities right in earlier life. Now they are middle aged graduates with bosses who are their own childrens age. this is a shame because jamaicans are the one group of black people in the UK who had ample opportunity to take advantage of the UK Higher education system and they CHOSE not to, if other black people from various cultures can do it, why can't they?
If you wanna meet jamaicans I suggest you frequent your nearest DSS office!

There is no "african" look ...ppl seem to see africa as "the world largest country". For example, a friend of mine who is from "the heart of Africa" once told me that in her native home, there are over 100 languages and ethnic groups...in ONE country! And I belive that`s what`s so wonderful about us (I`m not trying to brag hehe) ...our differences make us GORGEOUS ... Africa is a continent that`s extremly wealthy when it comes to culture...

| To prince hakeem about Russian racism towards black. i would say so what do not go there oif you cannot take the racism. They are doing what they feel is good for them people should be allowed to protect their own spaces and choose who they want to occupy their space. If they fel like blacks do not fit in why should they accommodate them. I know which types I will like to have in my country despite being black. Some nationalities, or characters wouldn's be allowed it is as simple as that. It's time black people stoppped blaming others they need to build their own empires and eprovide employment opportunitites for themselves without running to white people to give them one or protect them people naturally are more sympathetic towrads their own thait is family, tribe, race and those whos share their traits and if you happent not to it is atough world out there. Of course there are Jamaicans who are very well educated. But, it is true that there are far more Africans in British universities than West Indians, and there are official figures that prove this. When you consider that West Indians outnumber Africans in this country by at least 2:1, then you have to wonder. Remember that it was Natalie, a Jamaican woman who lamented over the fact that there were hardly any Jamaicans at her university.

Firstly are u jamiacan or African? secondly does it even matter if black bres are beggin anotha country........hmm? | i see where you are coming from latisha, but the point is, how i see it anyway, is that Africans are using the Jamaicanisms, in terms of their accent and behaviour to do all of the shallow things, such as chirps girls... they dont seem to adopt the jamaican culture as a rite of passage, just instead on a part time basis. I suppose we could say that is versatility, or alternatively, we could say that African people who do this, are using the jamaican culture for their own benefit and not for the development of black people as a whole. Per say, I do not feel as if i have adopted any Africanisms in my life, so why should they adopt another culture. Do you not at all feel even just a little bit patronised, even if overwhelmed with pride that they are trying to step on your turf...? It is the diverse groups within our culture that enable black people to be so diversified and interesting. If we become an element, of patois speaking people, homogenous in fact, are we not simple?

I have never tried to insinuate that I am not African, and that I am Jamaican. I am extremely proud to be African (more specifically Ghanaian). I always get puzzled when I hear of any African trying to insinuate that they are Jamaican. I for one, have never met or know of any African that has tried to claim that they are Jamaican. Some elements of the patois slang/dialect has infiltrated British "street culture", and is deemed as fashionable. So if an African says "wha gwan", it does not mean that they are trying or want to be Jamaican. They are just communicating to you in average London street slang, which British people to pick up as Patois is easier to understand for them as it has a high component of English. If you go to Lagos or Accra, they have this dialect called "pidgin English", which sounds a lot like Patois. This is not suprising as Patois does have elements of some West African languages such as Twi and Yoruba. This is a well known fact. This came about because when the slaves were being forced to speak English, they didn't want to and so tried to retain as many elements of their African culture as possible. This is a historical fact, but many black West Indians will of course deny this and will insist that they are indigneous West Indians.
I have cane rows in my hair, do you think that I am trying to be or want to be Jamaican? That is what some people have said, but I don't remember or know of that style even being originated by Jamaicans. If I wear baggy pants or Rocawerar, or Fubu, am I trying to be a black American?
