It's not about what you have to say, rather, it's your lack of understanding of 'Black issues' that's troubling; your response to everything is, for lack of a better word, limited. Nice response Timeline, I have a good friend that is dark skin and married to a very good male who is dark skin as well; they don't have 'a complex issue' regarding their skin tone nor do they feel inferior. And this is only my experience and dealing with them, both are completely aware of the issue of 'colorism'. I am not justifying Romario's story only were laughing at his classic condition attitude which has not been corrected. However, I'm sure you are completely aware of the colorism issue in the U.S. and it still is burning strong today; Romario's perception I assumed is a common distortion that many Americans have regarding dark skin individuals. This is reinforce in the media where this type of attitude becomes the norm; And Jewish Hollywood plays on this gross perception as well creating more of an impact as to reinforce that lighter is better; therefore the issue does not only lie within his mind; but is perpetuated on varying levels. But I find disturbing is that this 'thinking' is only subjected to America in regards to how they define beauty, and other parts of the world like England where various types of skin tones mainly dark skin women are represented in the English media and regarded as beautiful. Americans still are behind and close-minded when it comes to the 'standard beauty endorsement'. I know this all too well and have counsel a teenage African-American male and female regarding colorism and self-love when I was a counselor in the States and attempted to correct this frame of thinking.

Timeline I want to comment on something that you stated: "How many pale people do you see running around trying to find nonpale people to mate with so that their kids don't turn out pale...."
I am not trying to funny, but I have heard and seem with my own eyes from women that they did not want to marry a pale white man and I have counsel white teenage girls who has 'issues with colour' that only dated black teenage males because they found white skin repulsive and did not want children with their own simply because in their mind brown/black were perceived as desirable; and this is my working experience and this typical were the attitude of young females that I had to work with; so best believe it, some of them have issues as well regarding pigmentation.

I agree that pale skin is also an issue. In posing the question I was expressing that it does not have as negative a connotation as having skin that is too dark. The "ideal" skin in american seems to be "tanned" but pale skin is not looked down upon as much as dark dark skin is i.e. it is not taken as a sign of genetic inferiority etc.

I understand where you are coming from completely, however, some of the girls that worked with had serious issues about their 'whiteness' and equated it as genetic inferiority and wished that they were born black; black characteristics were deemed superior and desirable, so for them there was an element of a negative connotation involving 'the self'; strange as this may sound, and they hated being white and tried to escape it through excluding themselves from their race "all things white" damaging their skin, adopting attributes that they attributed as 'blackness' etc, so this idea of dark skin being looked down upon is only a representation of some Americans or reserved for those who are 'colour stroke' or 'colour conscious' and is not a relevant issue elsewhere outside America. I understand fully where you are coming from believe me and this is a conditioning factor. Negative attributions of 'dark skin' need to be reconstructed and so that a fairly amount of dark skin beautiful women are represented on 'American's world stage' and are viewed on an equal basis as a light skin black female. I recently came across a comment written by a Somali man called 'Khalid' he wrote thus:
"But our women know better and are not allowed to date outside their culture even if the man is a muslim. You somali women know better somali women are for somali men.
let's juz say tha i was disgusted with this comment, Somali women and girls may chose whom ever they want to marry, being a somali girl myself i don't see anything wrong with marrying into another race, as long as you love the person you are marrying there should not be a problem.
I have noticed how some somali men see somali women and girls as there property, someone should inform them that we have left the 19th century behind and that women have rights in this day and age.
I just want to say to Khalid that I think he is a pathetic man whom probably has been refused by too many beautiful somali sisters, that he has become bitter and twisted!
I am sure that many somali brothers do not feel the same way as 'khalid'

MY RESPOND TO MALICKIA ABOUT BLACK
AMERICANS SHOULD LEAVE USA.
My respond will make some people feeling upset, but truth need to be spoken.
I am not mad at any one, but the truth needs to be spoken.
Malickia is saying that black Americans should leave America. I would like to know where are they going to go? I have been living in the United States for some twenty years now. I found out that black Americans do not like any other black national, especially people from Jamaica. They hate the Jamaicans and make fun of us saying we work sixteen jobs. They hate people from Haiti; they hate people from Africa, where in blaze are they going to go? When the black American women get pregnant for Jamaican men they give the baby to black American men, who did not do the grunting.
I went to a bible school that is run by white people, they had a black registrar. He did not like any other black especially the Jamaicans. I went and did some classes with another Bible school that was completely staffed by black Americans. I came to the same conclusions that they do not like Jamaicans. I went to a Mechanic that was black Americans, the same problem. Black American barber, the same problem. Every thing goes well until they found out that the person is from Jamaica.
To go to other people country for asylum, we need to first plant seeds of kindness to such people and give brotherhood to other black national. If a black American need help and we gave them some money they behave as they disserve it, and should have gotten more.
They say that they are the ones fought the white man and the ones that was in slavery and other blacks came in to reap the benefits, so they disserve it. They forget that most of the black leaders that they have today are from Jamaican parentage. They forget that Marcus Garvy was here fighting for their freedom, and many other unsung Jamaicans pave the way long before Garvy came here.
You have to make allied and are able to network, before talking about migrating.
Migrating where? Many black Americans are now running to Jamaica and are opening business, but they forget that they once drive us away and killed us.
They say, Jamaicans taking away the jobs, but do they turn up for work the day after payday?
We black people must learn to love other people, and learn to live with other people, learn to welcome strangers, as said the Bible.
LEARN TO FORGIVE THE WHITE MEN FOR WHAT HAPPEN IN THE PAST.
Learn to live together; even animals have to learn to live with each other to survive in the wild. I saw a bear and a cat team up, what wrong with us? Every black people that came into my business place have to first ask me what country I came from before giving me the job, what for? Why? What does my Nationality have to do with any thing?

Hi everybody, im a new member and i just joined today and feel this is the right place to get some things off my chest. This happened to me only last week and i am still drinking sweet tea to get over the shock..........
I was just walking, feeling happy, munching on my Terry's Chocolate bar, when i look up and catch the eye of a boy/man (he looked about 20 but cos of the things that came outta of his mouth i put him in the former category). My first reaction is to look away and walk faster cos da boy's staring now and i didn't want his his eyes on me.
He starts to walk or should i say stalk after me (prat).
But of course with these types its either splurt in the other direction or endure and give out the disconnected vodaphone number (already preapred that).
He's by my side now sprouting the usual, can i talk u (u approached me wasteman) u look buff today (thanks already told my self that in the mirror before i left the house), where u heading to (no where that u need to know but if u wanna follow me u can). I already started to tune out, but he pulled me from my trance with this heavy-hitter:
'You know you're buff for an african'
Now girls, this boy did not even step back and act all coy when he said either, he looked intently in my eyes as if i was to think that it was some sort of compliment. At first i started to laugh manically (at this point manz was getting happy thinking i was relishing the compliment, idiot), i laughed so much and so hard that manz bredderins were like 'Oi, dis girl likes you, like', and 'Laughing like dat she must be easy to please'.
When i finally caught my breath, i acted all shy and said in my most sweetest voice:'You see that bottle over there (i pointed to an broken bottle on the floor) i would would rather wipe my ass with that, while on the toilet with dysentry(no i didn't really say that because the boy wouldn't have got it) then chat to you'
It actually took the boy about 3 seconds, to go 'Oh....why, you got a man?' Words failed me at this point.
I finally relented and gave Jermaine my old Vodaphone number. Poor fools probably ringing and leaving bare voice msgs.......
This is actually a sad but true story that some warped individuals believe that not looking 'african' and telling some 1 is a compliment. Black people need to change their minds africans are not ugly people. I come from an african family and not member of my family is ugly. But the issue really is whether african are ugly, but why people still think this way is beyond me.
All i can say is Jermaine i have a man and he appreciates my buff african features.
