The day before yesterday the lady whose son she wanted me to write in jail let me hold this book that is off the hook. The book is called Flower's Bed and it's by an author by the name of Antoine Thomas. Thomas is following in the tradition of Shannon Holmes and Sista Souljah as far as writing gritty urban drama is concerned. I started reading the book yesterday and already I'm on pg. 120. When she first gave the book to me and I read the back cover I was like oh no another one of them boo hoo books because when you read the back cover you automatically think it's about this girl whose molested and her struggle to get through her molestation. I've had another downers for one day so I really wasn't that excited about reading it. Last night I didn't have any more books so while in bed I decided to pick up the book and boy I got the shock of my life.
Flower, the book's main character is off da hook. Homegirl will immediately remind you of Winter from Sistah Souljah's novel The Coldest Winter Ever. Her and her friend Rosalyn are straight up freaks. This book has everything sex, drugs, murder and surprisingly love, because Flower eventually meets a guy who really seems genuine. You guys will not be disappointed by this book...And that's fo' real.
