Hi fam
just need your help. i am eagre to give my hubby a book to read. he says that he will read a book and doesnt mind. he is not like me and i read constantly whether on the net or a paper bined book
so all i need is some good reccomendations of books of any topic that you think a man would find interesting or beneficial. that way i can buy him one and he can read as and when he feels.

paul beatty is a nice place to start for black men.absolutely the funniest black writing you will ever read. i was busting a gut while reading his books, and i have a very dry sense of humour.

Good fiction
Alex Wheatles East of Acre lane, Brixton Rock, Checkers. London based crime fiction novels Good feel to em.
Good sciencey books I enjoyed
Desmond Morris Naked ape, Richard Dawkins Selfish gene, Bill Bryson Brief history of everything. Not entirely accurate and some ideas are dated but still entertaining and educational in a way.
How mumbo jumbo ruined the world. Cant remember who wrote that its very funny and interesting.
A book I enjoyed was Lenny Mcleans autobiography THE GUVNOR. This guy was a unlicensed boxer back in the day, famous in East London still. Very interesting read.
Or
you could try one of the books in the thread "books to read" or one of the ones Free mentioned in her bookclub thread. Chancelor Williams Destruction of black civilisation was the one that lots of us here really enjoyed. I think everyone should read that one.
You could get him a biography of one of the greats... MLK, Malcolm, Mandela, Ali, Nkrumah etc etc We like that stuff

Im currently reading Arthur C Clarkes Trigger. Its about a grup of scientists who while working on some other project discover their machine can stop exploxives working. It has the power basically to render defunct all firearms and bombs etc. Its starts off as a sci fi thing but becomes more political and espionage as it goes on. Lots of people obviously dont want such a device despite the idealism of the scientists.
I been reading this all day (its cold outside) and its a very good book, if you like fiction that is.

Sci Fi is my thing bro
Arthur C Clarke and Assimov are the masters and to be sure, Ive read most of their stuff, especially the main long sagas foundation, robots, Rama, 2001 etc etc but their other good ones out there too.
