Own up here. Hidden amongst the clever and fancy stuff on your bookshelves are books you'd prefer nobody knew you'd bought.

I wont start..

A whole heap of Agatha Christie murder mysteries.  I bought em on ebay for £3 for 7 of em.

The worst thing is that I actually enjoy them:( And I cant guess who the kiler was in most either... frustrates me till I read to the end.

That is sad.

The last Harry Potter book (Order of the Phoenix). I only bought it to see what the hype was all about...

Some mills&boons books i borrowed at my old local library when i was a boring teenager. I have no idea why i have never got to return them, because i only read five pages of one of them and thought what a load of rubish.

I have got other even more embarrassing books about, but since i am gone be here for a lot longer i refuse to wash too much of my laundry in the village just in case...;)

@Coltrane, well sir why don't you do us the honor and tell us what are your embarrassing books.......don't be shy, you started and its only fair non?

Homer's the illiad and the odessy.

The books themselves aint embarassing but I got them to try and be deep and intellectual or whatever and couldnt read em... Written in annoying verse.  Now they sit in my shelf looking pretty.  The height of pretentiouness I know I know.

I saw the odessy on TV and thought it would be like thatconfused3 like Jason and the Argonauts or something but it was just poetry *hawk spit* boring as hell.

btw

I dont have any Harry Potter!!

I have the first Harry Potter because my under grad degree was writing and publishing studies.  One of the modules was childrens fiction and it was on the book list.  That was before the major hype started.  While i thought it was good, i also found it derivative of Jill Murphys worst witch and enid blytons boarding school stories.  I have loved books from a very young age and have kept every book i ever bought from thr age of 7 so i guess alot of my collection could be deemed 'embarrasing' (gave most of the younger stuff to my 4 year old nephew)  but they remind me of more innocent times before real life got in the way of my imagination and dreams (mainly to be a writer), so i keep em around.  As an adult, i don't think i have any books i am embarrased about.

Beat 'RHS Good Plant Guide' for the most embarrassing book, not for me, but I gave it to my fourteen year old nephew. It was worth it just to see the look on his face lol! smoking-devil
