I was just curious if anyone out there have read the works of Del Jones? Brotha Dels books are an acquired taste because his writing can be very obscene and refers to white folk as "devils" (which I don't personally have issue with), but loaded with jewels and decrypting of current events. INVASION OF DE' BODY SNATCHERS studies the assimilation of the Afrikan, while BLACK HOLOCAUST goes into the ongoing campaign to re-colonize Afrika and the total genocide of all Afrikans globally. He breaks down the theft of Black (melaninated) culture throughout time in CULTURE BANDITS (1 & 2), which gives a very accurate accaount of the past and current theft of Black Rock-n-Roll, Jazz, Hip Hop, etc...while making us appear as if we had no involvement in the creative or mastery of anything. All Elvis (the master theif) and Beatles fans be warned...this is a PAN AFRIKAN writer! No punches pulled and teeth are left laying.
What I like about Del is that he never fails to give credit for referring to the research of Chancellor Williams and Ivan Van Sertima as well as the works of the late John Henrik Clarke and Amos Wilson, who are all masters in their fields. Peace: yes, I recently came across Brotha Dels's books while on a trip to FLA. What a mind-blowing experience! He's sort of a Hip-Hop Franz Fanon, delving into the psychology of both Blacks and Whites but using poetic, imflammatory, street language. His disssection of Hollywood stereotypes of people of color, for example ALIEN as a metaphor for White purity violated by Black monsters, is worth the price of admission.
I was sad to see his web site is no longer active. Maybe somebody could contact him personally and tell him to keep on rapping (knuckles that is).
