I'm a great lover of fictional books written by black authors, one could say that i am a bit of a romantic, having read books like How Stell got her groove back, When a man loves a woman-- which was too deep, deep as in for someone to write a fictional story about love blossoming like that, then perhaps yes love and romance is out there and it can be found.

Normally I like books that have happy endings in that in the beggining and through out the story there were no happy times but in the end something positive occured, some might say that is actually quite sad, or unrealistic but I like to believe that things may happen for the best of in the end things work out, else where in the world would I be if I didn't learn from the negative and switich it into a positive.

Anyways this book was so good I cried in the end because the ending was positive but it was sad, you all have to read this book, it's a continuation of the book Lover Boy.

it's about life in the music world, aspirations to become what you've always wanted, letting down your parents to become what you want to be, in the end it coming back to haunt you if your parents are just as determined as you, and we all know abt that.

Anyways it's about two friends and their transition from being boys to men, and the struggles they went through in the end resulting in a heavy story, it also includes a bit of romance, the ups and downs in the mucis business but there is a really good balance of everything. I do recommend that you get the tissues out near the end and that's to you too men!!!:D

Peace my nubians xxx

Hey

I read that and it cut me deep!

I can't even describe the numbing emotion it gave me.... it also made me wonder if someone so blessed with such a talent can lead a life with so much destruction ....

the one book i  have read of Tyree's, 'flyy girl' i did not like. the story line if i recall was shallow, and the language he used played upon every racial sterotype/prejudice going, it really showed the prejudices that are still prevalent among black people.  if a character was negative he would hone in the point making their skin so black it was 'blue', this kind of thing was so consistent throughout the book.

i read a couple yrs ago, and that sticks out allot becasue i remember telling myself i won't waste my money on his 'work' again.

I have read both 'flyy girl' and 'just say no' By Omar Tyree

They cut deep but on different levels

Just Say So is based around the glamorous lifestyle and some people no matter how talented they are just not built for fame, exploration is expressed here deep meanings throughout.

Flyy Girl. Well its does reflect attitudes of people as do many things a Young girl who grows up before her time experimenting with things, graphic yes untrue no.

Tyree writes with diversity and flair.
