I guess this is the definative book on LA ganglife.
Monster (Kody Scott) was a Crip in the late 70s and 80s. The book describes his youth being brought up by the gangs and aspiring to be nothing but a banger. Through the crimes he commited and the jail terms he served. The friends he lost and children he sired. The fascinating complicated rituals and rites of his gang. The intracacies of inter crip conflict while still being rivals to other gangs like bloods. His change and awakening consciousness in jail, his freedom and return to normal life.
Great book. Pick it up.

| Definitely agree a good read, how he was able to transform was key. The angry, agressive mindset never really changed at first, it was the redirection of that energy into something positive for Afrikans.
