African Visions 2005: New Writing in Africa - A tour of African Writers Sat 8 th to Mon 17th October 2005
Four of Africa 's most talented writers will visit literary festivals and events across England .
Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie is 27 year-old US-based author of 'Purple Hibiscus', her debut novel which was shortlisted for the 2004 Orange prize, won the 2005 Commonwealth Writers' Prize Best First Book, and appeared on BBC's Page Turners.
Alex Agyei-Agyiri, Ghanaian poet and novelist, whose novel 'Unexpected Joy at Dawn' was commended for the Best First Book at the 2005 Commonwealth Writers' Prize.
Lindsey Collen, from South Africa,is the author of three novels, 'There is a Trade', 'The Rape of Sita' and 'Getting Rid of It' and winner of the Commonwealth Writers' Prize, Africa Region.
Binyavanga Wainaina from Kenya is a formerCaine Prize winner and editor of 'Kwani?', the first important literary magazine to come out of East Africa since 'Transition'
