An excellent book I read recently was Dark Corner by African American writer Brandon Massey.
Short Review:
David Hunter, the main character left his home in Atlanta and headed for Mississippi to the house where his father, who was a writer had lived, in order to find out a bit more about him due to the fact that his father had left the family home when he was only a young child and therefore he had no knowledge of him. His father had died at sea and was declared legally dead even though his body was never recovered. There is a lot more that will be discovered about his death.
Strange things began to happen once David moved into the small town, Mason’s Corner. Days after his arrival another newcomer moved into town, and into the mansion Jubilee, which was rumoured to be have been haunted. Soon people started to disappear and dogs are viciously attacked. There are evil things happening in Mason’s Corner and the town is being terrorised. Later, David realised that all of the horrific things that were happening was related to his family tree.
There is romance, suspense and intrigue throughout the whole book. There are vampires, but not the kind of vampires we are used to seeing in movies etc. These vampires are very handsome and egotistic and are very human.
What is interesting about the book is that you are led into the plot straight away and it is hard to put the book down because of the writing skills of the author. You really don’t have to imagine anything because it is as if you are one of the characters and that is what makes it impossible to put the book down.
It is one of the best books I have read in a long time; a book that I actually finished in 2 days. I’ve read books that had suspense in them before but sometimes they would drift a bit. With this book, there is no drifting, everything flows and holds your attention to perfection. Usually, if a book does not grab me by the first 3 or four pages, that is the end of it.
I would give Dark Corner 5 stars, 10 out of 10. I am actually going to read it again. I’m also going to buy his other two books “Within the Shadows and “Thunderland because I think he is an excellent writer and should be up there among the big boys. I highly recommend this book.

| I've just finished reading his latest "Within The Shadows". I've never read a book so fast in all my life. 10 out of 10. Will give you a review at the weekend.
