After many many years of avoiding reading this book I recently picked it up...

I can't help thinking I wasn't meant to read it all those years ago.

I love this book.  Zora Neale Hurston is such a wonderful "storyteller."

I thoroughly enjoyed 'Their Eyes Were Watching God'. It was amazing to me to see a character who resembled my own Grandma in many ways. Zora Neale Hurston really illustrated the Black rural life and culture of that time period. I respect her so much that my daughter is named after her. Zora Neale Hurston was definitely a pioneer of Black womens' literature in America.
